Davis is able to eat 20 cakes in the time limit and, despite a bit of custard that smeared on his chin and shirt, is able to keep going, but the contest is over and besides, they’re almost out of cakes!
The halfling carnival worker who was officiating the contest stares at Davis in awe, mouth agape, speechless. Other fair-goers honor you with applause and cheers!
Davis, you are also awarded a special glazed custard-filled cupcake that, when eaten, functions as a potion of invisibility.
Pal will congratulate Davis and offer his hand to shake, "Good job friend!" He will then pull out his spellbook and set it in his lap as he sits on the grass. He will keep the book closed and tap on it with his hands in an attempt to but a back beat to the jam session under the pear tree.
"Then play with me this merry song, it isn't hard, just follow along." Viola says to the gnome and starts playing a cheerful folk dance song from back home, nearly irresistable for the listeners to start joyful dancing. Performance: 16
The gnome leaps to her feet, standing on the swing, and gets it swaying back and forth as she plays her lute. She nimbly and skillfully compliments and harmonizes with your music, as if she were as familiar with the tune as you are yourself.
Those in the Feasting Orchard impulsively gather up to enjoy the performance, and it doesn’t take long for most of them to be dancing twirling, spinning, laughing, clapping along.
The gnome hollers out, “My name’s Ellywick, by the way. You’ve got spunk, kid, I gotta say. Should serve you well while in the fey!”
As the performance winds down, the fair goers collapse in laughing, gasping heaps, while others cheer.

Viola, your instrument glows forest green for a few moments, then it appears normal again, but you understand it to be charmed so that you or one of your companions can have advantage on an ability check or saving throw, so long as you are playing the instrument and they can hear it. This can occur 3 times and then the charm expires.

"Well thank you there friend Ellywick a little spunk will do the trick." Viola hollers back nodding and smiling while continuing to play.
"Things we lost, now would you mind, helping us these things to find." She asks Ellywick as they sit and rest after the performance. Persuasion to get help from Ellywick: 7
Calanon claps once more as the two minstrels perform in near perfect harmony. As he does this his eyes once more sparkle to a brighter color to show that his mood seems to he changing. As they stop though it fades back to the dour blue. "Well done. I have only ever heard a group of Saytrs play anywhere near as well."
Davis smiles and accepts the congradulations. he puts the custard given to him in his pack, though wraps it so it doesn't just get squished all over the place. Once done with that he moves over to listen to the music, smiling broadly and enjoying the enthusiasm of his companions.
”Those satyrs must’ve been quite drunk if they sounded near as good as us. They always play better the more wine’s in ‘em.”
To Viola, Ellywick says with a wink,
“Who’s to say I haven’t already helped you on your way to righting what’s wrong? Still, you’re very persuasive. Fine, if you need more help at the carnival, later in the evening, come looking for me and I’ll do what I can. For now, I suggest you continue to enjoy yourselves. You’ve had quite a positive effect already tonight! Keep it up, and good things are bound to happen.”
With that, she gets to her feet, settles her lute on her back, and bids you all adieu before heading out into the crowds.
"Thanks my friend that's all I ask some helpful guidance with our task." Viola says and bows to Ellywick before the gnome departs, a little confused over how she already helped them.
Viola then dances over to her newfound friends. "Well my friends, whereto? pray tell, maybe to the carousel." She suggests, ready to continue enjoying herself until more leads to what she lost so long ago presents itself.
A procession of wooden unicorns stands motionless on a circular wooden platform. Fairgoers clamber onto the unicorns' backs, and a female of unusual shape and size (see picture) sets the ride in motion. The unicorns shake their manes and creak to life, cantering around the carousel to the delight of their riders.
"This place, my friends, has amazing things look over there, a centaur with wings." Viola says smiling warmly to the others as they approach the carousel. "How amazing, riding a unicorn that I have dreamt of since I was born."
The horse-person clears her throat as you approach and says,
“Beg pardon, only I just overheard what you were saying, and I must correct you. I am not a centaur, I’m actually a human who… made a bad deal.”
She grows misty eyed for a moment, and her mood is melancholy, which contrasts with the generally otherwise boisterous atmosphere. You also see that the wings are merely strapped-on cloth ones.

"I'm sad I made your good mood fade please tell me of this deal you made." Viola says compassionately and lays a warm comforting hand on Diana's arm. Persuasion if needed: 18
Bramble brings up the rear and follows the others as they head towards the carousel. At first, the wee Fairy is intrigued by the centaur but when she discovers that the female isn't really a centaur but an enchanted human who made a bad deal. Bramble was not at all surprised by this for the Archfey could be cruel in their bargains and that is just how it was, it is their nature. Still, Bramble felt sorry for her and flew up beside her and asked politely in a honey-sweet voice. "Who did you make the deal with, if I may ask? Often there is usually a backdoor, an escape clause of some kind if one knows where to look depending on who you've made a bargain with as some are clever than others."
The eladrin raises a brow at the comment the centaur makes but shrugs it off as he knows that strange things happen when the fey are invovled. He moves to present his own ticket, doing his best to not let the mood of the woman effect him.
The not-centaur shyly says, “You seem nice. My name’s Diana, and I’m not really supposed to talk about it, but I think there are some things I can tell you… I was once a warrior in… another place, and I got separated from my warhorse in a heated battle. I couldn’t find her anywhere, and she was my best friend! I sought the help of a, um, a…. person, I asked to be reunited with my horse, and she, well, she….”
At this point Diana gestures to the equine lower half of the body and then shrugs helplessly. She’s caught up in her interaction with you now and has quite forgotten about taking ticket punches or getting the ride started.
"I'm sorry Diana to hear what you tell, I hope that in time all things will be well, til then I do hope you don't on this dwell. Can we now still go on the carousel?" Viola asks, still with warm compassion, presenting her own ticket for punching.
