Gus latches his shield to his pack and approached the young dragon slowly, "I've no reason to harm you little one, you can trust me."
He gently touches the dragon's neck to try to soothe it. "What's y'r name? I'm Gus. You're in a place called the Sunless Citadel, underground. Not sure how the Kobolds came to have you, but, despite their foolish methods they mean to idolise you."
Gus looks at the carnage in the room, "I promise I'll not let anyone else try to break you. My friends are outside, we can trust them. Meepo's with us too, he's been worried about you. I know y'think him an idiot, but his people just want you back safely."
"As for the Gob's, we have one guiding us, he said he had no idea where you were, but I think that may have been a fib. If the bugbear you mentioned comes back, he'll not be happy with what meets him." Gus looks slightly upset as he touches the Dragon's hide, pained to see a creature treated so badly.
"Calm now Meepo, I'm sure Gus had his reasons, he doesn't strike me as one to try and take on a dargon single handedly." Weber turns to the Goblin "Who is Balsag and what would he be doing here with the dragon?"
"He is what you call a bugbear, he lives down below also, same as the Druid. He is a great hunter. The dragon is hiding something and he's is trying to find out what exactly."
"hmm, if you haven't killed Meepo already, I may have misjudged him. I will say the kobolds hold me in great reverence and this is a great place to be a dragon. I could get used to being here but they need to account for the theft from my nest. Something else, I have seen these kobolds fight, they fight with real skill and use excellent tactics. Goblins I would not trust at all. I will be safe with the kobolds for the time being if you can get me back to them. I am afraid I will be a just a burden on your quest. Don't tell them I can speak, I want that to be a surprise."
as you observe him more closely, he does have a slight silvery tint to his white scales...
"Meepo's stayed by our side through these halls and helped us at every turn, he's a good soul, jus' think he and his need some guidance on how to be better. Think you might be the one to show them the path o' light." Gus smiles at the Dragon as he speaks, hand still resting on the gleaming scales of it's neck.
"I'll trust these Goblins just enough to see our quest through, an' no more'n that. They've not proven so far that trust is deserved. An' if meet this bugbear, he'll learn a lesson on how to treat intelligence creatures," Gus sounds angry at this last sentence.
"Let's get you out of here, you look hurt and Meepo will ensure you're cared for. Once my friends and I have completed our task, I'll come check on you."
Stepping back into the centre of the room, Gus hefts his hammer from his belt and, with a sideways swing, snaps the stake holding the chain in place.
He walks back to his new friend, "Here, it's not much, but it might make sure you get back safely," Grasping the scroll shaped pendant round his neck and muttering a few words, Gus touches the dragon's neck again and uses Lay on Hands to restore 4 HP to it.
With a smile, he says, "I'll not mention you speaking, friend. That's our little secret for now. You never did tell me your name, by the way, I like to know my friends names."
As he speaks, he walks towards the door, awaiting the Dragon's reply before he opens it.
his eyes close as the healing power ripples through him... where you touched his scales they shimmered silver for an instant and then appear white again...
"Calcryx my friend, very happy to have met you. Sounds like a plan, just tell Meepo to lose the cage and I want to go outside from time to time to fly around."
"Good luck on your quest, find me when you return, I would like to know more about the person pushing the goblins to do more evil than usual."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"I guess we'll see what has been really happening once Gus returns. How often has Balsag been coming to interrogate the dragon?" Weber begins pacing in front of the door a little anxious for the Dwarf locked in a room with a dragon. He listens against the door to see if he can hear any sign of activity from their companion Perception: 15
"I promise we'll stop by on our way back, Calcryx, make sure the Kobolds are treating you right." Gus smiles widely at Calcryx, and touches his neck again. "Right, let's go"
Gus opens the door from the room, almost bumping into Weber.
"Sorry 'bout that guys, poor thing looked terrified when I walked in. Managed to calm 'im down." Gus moves to the side slightly to let Calcryx through the door, and rests his hand on his neck.
As the dragon lashes out at Meepo, Gus turns on the Kobold, pointing, "No leashes, no cages! You treat this creature with the respect it deserves!" He says sternly, looking Meepo dead in the eyes.
"An' 'Avalanche' is a gods-awful name. Deserves a name fit for his kind, something strong. How about Calcryx? That sounds like a dragon worth reverin'."
"Now get 'im back to safety, an' if I see anything amiss when we return, there'll be hells to pay."
He turns to the goblin, "Stop yer snivellin'. You might not've had a hand in this poor things torture, but I bet you know who did. If'n we happen across them on our way, I'll be havin' words. We still have an agreement though, so if there's nothin' else to be done here, we should move on."
“All good out here Gus, good to see you’ve made a friend” Webers eyes go wide at the sight of the dragon next to the dwarf and sighs in relief that there won’t be a fight.
”From what we’ve gathered it’s been a bugbear called Balsag that’s done the damage, apparently seems to work with the Druid.”
seeing that he is not going to be killed, the goblin continues on his way down a long hallway into...
A circular shaft pierces the floor of this forty-foot diameter domed chamber. Dim violet light shines out of the shaft, revealing sickly white and gray vines that coat the walls of the shaft. The light is supplemented by four lit wall torches set equidistant around the periphery of the chamber. A crudely fashioned stone throne sits against the curve of the northwestern wall. A large iron chest serves as the throne's footstool. A sapling grows in a wide stone pot next to the throne.
The room is empty now but does show signs of recent occupation... the shaft looks at least all of 60' if not more...
"Use the vines to climb down, the vines will hold even the heaviest of you. This as far as I go."
[NOT ENTIRELY SURE HOW I DELETED THAT LAST POST - SORRY - I'LL POST IT AGAIN]
Circling round the shaft towards the throne and chest, Gus remembers the key Yusdrayl gave them, "Mind that key we were lent? Never found a lock for it, maybe this chest'll fit?"
He takes the key out if his pack and approaches the chest, looking for a lock.
As he does this, he speaks to the Goblin, "Here, thought you were coming' to confront this Belak fella with us? All part of the liberation of yer folks?"
"Already trying to take what isn't yours I see, that key won't work anyway. I thought you guys were noble and all that, instead you act like kobolds. I'll go with you if you are scared, but if you are scared, I suggest you leave."
Gus straightens up and strides towards the Goblin, fury painted across his face. He grabs whatever armour or clothing the Goblin has on his chest and pins him to the wall, ensuring not to hurt him in any way.
Gus snarls, "You talk to us of nobility? We spare yer life and offer to liberate your entire tribe from the life of servitude to an outsider, and you charge us gold just to shoo away your friends. You cover up the abuse of an innocent creature then cower and beg for forgiveness when you think we're goin' ta punish ya for it!"
Gus' voice gets angrier and louder, "You accuse us of cowardice and try to act like a big, strong, brave fella after bein' on your knees, snot and tears on your face back there! How dare you! If we were afraid, we definitely wouldn't need you of all creatures down there to back us up!"
He lets go of the goblin, but his voice is still full of rage "As for the contents of the chest, we're not here to loot and steal, but if there's something that could be useful to finding the others and ridding your people of Belak, then I'd use it."
"Be calm Gus, the creature is not worth the effort, we will need to save our strength for what may be about to come." Weber takes a seat on the throne while waiting to descend the shaft. "Do we need to rest up a bit before we travel further or are we all good to go?"
Gus latches his shield to his pack and approached the young dragon slowly, "I've no reason to harm you little one, you can trust me."

practically spitting with fury at the sight of the injured dragon...
"This isn't over goblin! Come on Avalanche, let's get you back to where you are safe. This is no place for a dragon."
he moves to put a leash on the dragon but the dragon punches him so hard you could hear his ribs crack as he winces in pain... he tosses the leash...
"OK, umm, no need for that anyway."
