“Hey, somebody fancy giving me a hand? This lump ain’t the easiest to haul through a cave”. Weber huffs straining at the end of the rope pulling the bugbear along.
Gus drags the strongbox out of the pile of bedding.
“Sorry Weber.” He says to his friend before heading over to help drag the bugbear into the alcove.
“We should probably rest up, this seems as good a place as any.”
He turns to the gnome, “Sorry we’ve been a bit rude. Name’s Gus, what’s yours? The others you described, we’re here t’find ‘em and bring ‘em home. Anything you can tell us about this place, an’ this Belak fella, would help a lot.”
"I am Erky Timbers! Cleric in training I guess you could say."
"I've heard the goblins talk about the Twilight Grove. A wicked old human called Belak-a spellcaster, I suspect-tends an enchanted garden and harvests fruit from something the goblins call the Gulthias Tree, but they speak of it only in the most terrified of whispers. The enchanted fruit grows on the Gulthias Tree. Those nasty twig things live on the tree also."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"How can a tree grow so deep underground?" Durthon asks without expecting a reply, confusion clear in his face. "In any case, Durthon is my name. Glad to see you out of that cage."
Nodding at Gus he adds "aye, I could use some rest too. Let me check that there is no one else in here with us first." He walks north, looking if anyone else is there and checking if there are more entrances to this room.
You don't find anything or anyone but there is a tunnel that leads down further into the ground. It does not show any traffic however and looks like it has not been disturbed for years.
Feel free to take a long or short rest. Place appears pretty safe.
(Fine with a short rest, unless everyone else wants long)
“So the magic tree spawn those little twiggy bastards? Perhaps we should burn the thing down and get rid of them for good!” Weber aimlessly wanders round the room, seeing that the Dwarves have already searched the place.
(Also fine with a short rest, if anyone else needs a long, that's okay)
Gus sits himself down on the ground near Erky.
"Part of me agrees with ya Web'. But if such a tree can grow down here, maybe it can be used for good instead of ill. This Belak sounds like a piece o' work, true enough. Might be a damn sight harder to convince him to leave than I thought."
He scratches his chin. "Convinced the goblins upstairs that a life of mutual benefit with the Kobolds might be better for 'em than living under a human's thumb. Wonder if we can convince this twit o' the same" he jerks a thumb towards the unconscious bugbear."
"I would not trust these goblins or him at all, they are planning to ambush us on the way out I am sure of it. If he lives, they will view it as a sign of weakness not strength. I did talk to the kobolds however and found them to be quite focused on getting the temple up an running and they seem different, my guess they are from the fabled Tucker tribe. As long as we don't try to stop them in their quest, we will be fine. That evil dragon will be an issue eventually however and tougher to stop if they succeed."
Durthon feels that he can go on after a short rest too (OOC he has a spell slot available after that level up).
Satisfied tha there is no one else with them, the dwarf goes to sit with the group. He takes a rag out of his pack and cleans his warhammer during the conversation. "The kobolds seem to be the most trustworthy group around here." Turning to Erky he asks "the dragon seemed pretty calm when we found it, why would you call it evil?"
"To be fair, I only know what I have read and what I have been told, from that, White dragons are always nasty evil creatures. If he or she is not, that makes me happy."
Durthon nods at Erky's assesment about dragons "that's fair, dragons can be very dangerous."
Seeing that the bugbear is awaking, he puts the rag back in his pack, grabs his warhammer firmly and walks towards him. "Now, it looks like you have some explaining to do. Starting with why did you steal the dragon from the kobold tribe?"
"Um, is that a trick question? They're kobolds, they can't be trusted with a dragon, besides, this old citadel is ours now and they need to leave, same as you. Don't recall bothering anybody to deserve this intrusion."
Gus bites his lip slightly to stop his anger showing on his face. He approaches the bugbear and crouches near him, “Why were you torturing the poor thing though? What did you expect to gain from that?”
”As f’r the kobolds, they just want somewhere t’live and there’s plenty of room in this dusty mausoleum f’r both o’ yer people. Instead you an’ yours are too busy dancing’ to some human’s tune and doin’ his bidding to see sense.” Gus stands back up and steps away slightly.
”An’ as f’r us? We’re here to find some stray surface folk that found themselves down here, once we find ‘em, we’ll leave. We don’t have have care for warring with your people. In the process, we found that your goblin friends don’t particularly like this Belak fella. Wouldn’t you rather live by your own rules? We’re gonna try to persuade this Druid t’leave, an then you can make your own way. Think a mutual agreement with the kobolds might do ya all some good.”
"Not torture, training, White Dragons are very nasty and need to learn their limits, it's rough business at first but it will be better for him and us in the long run. Didn't expect you guys would fall in with the kobolds and be peacemakers and all that. I would like to be rid of that guy but it would take a concerted effort and so we sell his apples and pocket the money in exchange for leaving him along instead. By all means, take a crack at him, the other heroes didn't do so well I'm afraid. If the goblins can stand the stench of the kobolds, who am I to judge?"
Durthon squints at the bugbear "who are these other heroes you speak of? There is a couple of humans we have been tasked to find among the ruins here."
"Oh yes, those three. Way over their heads, one of them mouthed off to Durnn and so only the 2 made down to Belak. A young hot head noble type I think, not used to be being told what to do. Not the peacemaker types like you all appear to be. I am guessing there is a reason I am still alive, what might that be exactly?"

Feel free to take a short rest and then let's see if the bugbear comes to..
(simple Constitution check 13 or less and he lives)
