Effulgyn looks to where Arc is pointing and, putting a finger to his lips, whispers, “Shhh, Arc…we don’t know what it is. Let’s try not to rouse it if it sleeps. Just nudge Ferg and Fin?”
Circling the cart, Effulgyn tries to identify what the object is from a distance or see tracks on the road which might offer a hint as to its nature or lead toward it. (Survival roll: 13)
Ferg wakes and tries to stay quiet. He sends Parson 100 feet towards the mound and uses his telepathic ability to see what it can see (100 feet would be about 1/3 the distance to the object)
Parson's perception roll (with advantage because he is an owl): 13
Arc calls out to the team “Hey, what do you make that thing over there is?” Pointing to the small object in the field. (PS how do you do a roll in these posts?)
Ash has been preoccupied pacing from the right and back of the cart, deciding to rely passively on his sense of sight and hearing rather than searching for oddities among the terrain after finding his initial attempt at scouting to yield nothing and expecting the others to have kept watch more effectively considering his eyes can only view so far during night.
Noticing the cart come to a halt, Ash hunches down as he walks to lower his profile and walks over to where Arc is situated at, speaking in a quiet yet cold tone to him, "Why has the cart stopped moving?"the moonlight reflects onto his metal arm and causes it to glimmer slightly, standing out from Ash's otherwise brown and washed out clothing.
Parson takes flight smoothly, making no sound. He swoops gently lower, to get a better look at the mound. So far, he has not seen any movement or been given any indication that this is anything but a grassy knoll.

Ferg comes out of the telepathy with Parson and quietly climbs down from the cart. He whispers to Ash "There is a mound about 100 yards out that is suspicious. I will walk closer to it so that Parson can show me more. I will be careful" He quietly makes his way towards the mound but only gets within about 110 feet in order to let Parson approach within 10 feet and still see through the telepathic ability as Parson does the fly by.
Ferg, you walk carefully off of the road and into the field. Perhaps from having slept at a weird angle in the cart, your legs feel heavy and aren't as nimble as usual, meaning movement is slow but heavy (and not as quiet as you would have liked).
The only movement you see is that of Parson who, for his part, does not seem to have detected anything from the mound.

Ferg goes back to the cart. "I am not seeing anything through Parson. That doesn't mean that there is nothing but I am unable to help. I say we move on. I'll tell Parson to stay behind and watch from a small distance for movement until we are well away. If he sees anything he will fly back and let us know." Ferg begins to climb back into the cart but stops "Is it my turn to keep watch? Seems only fair." He changes direction and takes position at the back to watch for anything from Parson, assuming they decide to move on.
Effulgyn moves onto the cart and stands upon it to get a better angle to view Ferg as he approaches the mound. When the gnome turns back, Effulgyn continues to scour the field, nervously tapping his wand.
When Ferg returns, the halfling exhales and smiles. “You’re a brave one Ferg. All right company. Onward.” And he clucks his tongue and sets Asterix into motion once again, still with an eye to the strange little hill.
OOG can I get a sense of who is where? Effulgyn and Ash are at the cart, is Arc still in the field? Ferg did you go back inside the cart? Fin has any of this woken you up?

Ferg is now walking behind the cart as they start off. He is watching their back as Parson stays back and watchs the patch of earth from 20 or so feet away. Once they have moved down the road a good ways and feel safe, Parson will return to the cart. Ferg's telepathey with Parson only works from 100 feet away so that wont be part of this.
OOC: We can rewind a little if Arc is still approaching the patch of earth. Ferg would have stayed 100 to 110 feet back letting Parson fly within 10 feet and watch. Ferg would not have come back until Arc was satisfied.
Effulgynseats himself back up on the bench of the cart, taking a little peek at Fin'ssleeping form as he does. A moment passes, as he and Ash quietly scan the fields as their two companions, Arcand Ferg, continue to walk slowly toward the mound. Asterix snuffs the air, perhaps grateful for the break.
Parson, for his part, continues to swoop closer to the mound and then back to Fergin wide, silent loops. He has not detected any movement so far, Fergknows, but Arcseems intent on checking the strange mound out himself and Fergisn't one to leave a comrade out in a field alone, not that this particular thing has ever happened to him before...

Arcslowly approaches the mound. One thing he notices at the start is that it's quite round--not something he'd ever seen in any of his text books (and certainly not in the wild--but then again he has not seen many natural things in his bookish life so far, despite being a half-elf).
As he gets closer he is also acutely aware that there is little growing on this particular patch of earth. No grass, no moss. In fact, it would appear as though a deliberate attempt has been made to conceal the fact that it's mostly made of dirt as there seems to be brambles and twigs and things placed around it.
He circles the mound trying to decipher what it might be - 14 for an investigation check.
