Ogden just shakes his head as he enters the parlor hoping to provide some spiritual protection if needed. He just listens silently to his companions joke as he just lightly touches the emblem of his goddess.
Ra'Salva slips his smoking pipe back into his pocket with a shrug. He considers the half-orc Nuzar for a moment, the same droll, blank expression on his face. The dark circles beneath his eyes make his face look almost skeletal in the dim light of the parlor, if skulls had beards. His hat removed, hung on a hook by the door as he entered the home, you can see now that his hair is long and greasy and grey.
"Not a doctor as you may be thinking, though I believe I would do in a tight spot. My research has led me into all manner research, including explorations of the anatomy of various specimen. The brain is of particular interest to me."
He steeples his hands upon the table as he speaks, and you see his long, yellowed nails. He has the look of a man who has shown little consideration for his outward appearance in many years (though his coat and boots are now quite clean and less threadbare thanks to Sophiel's magical mending). His eyes drift from Nuzar as he studies the room a moment.
"I was observing that tower outside earlier. It occurred to me that I've seen it before, as an etching in a book on very old families. I'm quite sure now that this is Halvhrest House. You'll have to pardon me if I don't recall too many details about the family. I was nine at the time and was more interested in the tower than which noble married who and how many children they had. I do recall, vaguely, that it was a sordid tale, of sorts. Oh, blast it all, what was it..." He looks up at the ceiling trying to will the memories back into existence, but at last gives up and goes back to fidgeting with his pipe.
If Ra'Salva were to observe Nuzar as she studies his appearance, he'd see that Nuzar was dressed like a commoner in a normal village. Besides the worn patches on her pants as well as some darkened spots upon her pants and shirt, her clothes seemed clean. The leather armor she wore over her clothing looked very dark, as if it was made from worn, burnt leather that looked to have some darkened stains of blood on the breastplate. Gazing into her face, he can see that she had fairly sharp features for a half-orc. It could be that she was fairly lanky for a half-orc and not as built, but she certainly had the height. Like Ra'Salva, Nuzar's fairly piercing, amber gaze also had dark circles under her eyes that could be from a lack of sleep. Her voice was deeper, which was expected for half-orcs, but her tone made it seem like she defiantly knows her ways with words despite her easygoing demeanor.
"Now that, I do not have a good feeling about" She addresses the group after Ra'Salva's statement. "I've heard enough ghost stories and their ABC's that attempting to summon the spirits and ghosts of those who once owned this very old house, whose fates are currently unknown, sounds like this can get messy. As in humors all-over-the-place messy. Doctor, would it be appropriate if a few of us chose to lay-low in the room while this thing is happening to watch your backs?"
Ogden just shakes his head as he enters the parlor hoping to provide some spiritual protection if needed. He just listens silently to his companions joke as he just lightly touches the emblem of his goddess.
Sophiel is a bit cold so she flies beside Ogden and follows him into the house. She looks about to see where this parlor is. While they look around, she ask Ogden, "So where are you from?"
Here is a google drive link to the first floor. Please tell me which spaces you intend to walk to and/or explore. I will say the séance will take place in about 4 hours in game. It will take you about an hour to explore each room per person. So two people exploring a single room will take half that time, so on and so forth. Any questions, please let me know. If you want to have a more in depth conversation with any NPC, let me know as well.
Ra’Salva rises and draws Nuzar aside in a corner of the room (I would think we were calling Room 3 our “parlor” if that makes sense to the DM, could we fast forward a bit to this room and get a description?).
To Nuzar: “I don’t wish to offend our hosts, but perhaps a look around would be in order. We must assume that our appearance here may not be a coincidence.”
Waving his hand before him, Ra’Salva speaks in a strange, hissing language. A thin black smoke slithers up from the floorboards, materializing into the form of a small black snake.
He reaches down and the snake curls up his arm. He holds it close to his face and it hisses as if about to strike.
”Take Ambrose with you. He’ll serve as my eyes and ears in case you run into any trouble. I’d like to have a word with our hosts, see what else they know about the history of this place.”
Ra’Salva’s familiar, Ambrose, hisses at Nuzar.
”Don’t mind Ambrose. He much prefers being a fish, don’t you, you old grump.” He pushes the snake towards Nuzar. “Naught to fear. He isn’t poisonous and very rarely bites.”

Nuzar follows Ra'Salva and heeds his words carefully, then getting fairly confused at the strange hissing language. Upon seeing a strange puff of blame smoke rise from the floorboards to form n the form of a snake, her face suddenly grew pale... A blackened, squirming, tendril-like creature, it frightened her greatly. She almost let out a gasp, but was too frightened to really make a sound and attempted to reach for her dagger, but upon seeing the tongue flicker and Ra'Salva reaching for it did she realize this was a snake created by some sort of magics he concocted.
"I uh.... ugh..." Nuzar would hold her head, not really looking at the snake but at Ra'Salva, she'd speak silently. "Can you change Ambrose into something else? If it's possible?" She looks up, her pale green skin even more paler. She'd pierce her top lip slightly with her tusk. "I-it's fine... Just... wrap it around my boot so it's out of my sight, would you? I'll sneak out once you have their ear."
At Ra'Salva's ready, he'd get Ambrose around Nuzar's leg with her looking up, trying not to acknowledge the creature. She wasn't going to let a snake damage her pride, what would her mother say?
Once Ra'Salva would start talking to the two, hopefully toward the fireplace, Nuzar would nonchalantly go from searching for alcohol, which was her original quest, and quietly sneak through the southern door back into the main hall (To Room 2). From the main hall she'd quietly, stealth-fully, enter the door to the east. (To Room 6)
As per the DM's info on the Dr. Sedwick's whereabouts.
With a nod to Nuzar. "Be careful." He claps the half-orc on the shoulder. "Ambrose, be on your best behavior," he says, casting a scolding gaze at the snake familiar slithering up her boot.
Ra'Salva walks over to where the Doctor is standing, in the north-east corner of the parlor. He makes a show of leaning heavily on his cane as he approaches.
"Is there anything I may assist you with, Doctor?" He notices that Doctor Sedwick's hands are quite full, arranging bedrolls, rearranging papers and such.
"We certainly don't wish to impose. I realize our arrival today was something of a surprise. As for what assistance we are to give, I think you may have ascertained that if the one who directed us here and this Rudolph fellow are one and the same, he was quite vague in what was expected of us..." Ra'Salva makes a show of moving the bedrolls around with his cane as he speaks, "I do have to ask. The history of this house... I recognized it as the Halvhrest mansion when we approached. The tower gave it away. But how much do you know of the history of this house, and why is it of interest to you and your husband?"
My apologies. I called the Doctor Ray, and I looked back and realized it was Dr. Arthur Sedwick and his husband Alanik Ray (the elf in the wheelchair). I amended my earlier post to reflect this.
With the others seemingly distracted, Wraith prestidigitates her chemise and her hooves clean. She notices Nuzar and Ra'Salva seem to be developing a rapport. The fairy, Sophiel, seems to be quite intrigues by the dwarf, Ogden. Perhaps she should team up with the soldier, Emrys? She shrugs, draws her cloak tightly, and silently follows him into the other room. (Room 6 (south))

Ogden just looks at Sophiel "I'm from a small town near the mountains to the north. How about yourself?" he asks as he continues to just walk and look around the parlor.

Sophiel smiles. "Originally, I was born in the Feywild. However, I've been living at the Carnival. I work as a ride mechanic there.. Though I am just an apprentice at the moment."

Emrys listens to Ra'Salva, one eyebrow lifting quizzically. Unfortunately, the cut to his lip turned the expression into a sardonic smile.
"The elves of Wealdath, often spoke a fifth. Magic or spirit. I never understood which, then again, I don't think saw a difference. "
