@krull - you notice that they are absent mindedly looking at you and when you put the bowl behind you loudly, they just look at you weirdly and look at each other. @wolfe - it’s not very bright. There are a couple of torches burning low in the room the guards are in. Yes short rest. The rat just watches you, on its haunches, then moves to the other cells and looks at them.
Rabbit watches the rat as well, mostly just curious about it looking at her. And there's little other entertainment. She doesn't say anything, just stares at the rat.
The goblin comes back eventually to collect the bowls - are you eating the soup to gain much needed sustenance? If so, add another 1d4 HP to your totals. Rabbit seemed to indicate no, while Krull gobbled his up. If the goblin notices any still full bowls, he’ll wait - miserable look on his face - while you eat or push the bowl to the bars. The commoners in the cage bring their bowls to the bars and set them down. They whisper, “Thanks Droop.” The goblin offers a closed smile, again, sad but a smile nonetheless.
Seeing the goblin waiting, and evidently not getting any interest from the rat, Rabbit pushes her bowl towards the bars. "Thanks Droop," she says. "Maybe tomorrow."
(Could Wolfe speak to Droop without the Redbrands noticing?)
Can Wolfe do telepathy? Or any non-verbal languages?
(Nope, but I thought the guards were in the next room perhaps. I guess Wolfe could write something using illusions of text if the guards were looking the other way and Droop can read.)

Just a reminder to roll the extra 1d4 IF you ate the soup/gruel. You can roll it here on the game thread.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
(Sorry! somehoe missed there was another page when I checked for updates)
Mau takes a curious sniff at the gruel handed to them and seeing the other cellmates partake he cautiously eats from the bowl. Once finished he pushes it towards the bars and rests against the wall wincing with each move as his wounds are agrivated.

Edryd eagerly eats the gruel he picks up the bowl and drinks it without the use of utensils, "This is not bad, warms the soul a bit. Still I don't think I'd like to stay for another helping..." He looks toward his companions hoping an opening will present itself. He looks carefully for any weak points in their prison be that the door or the bars themselves.

After you eat the gruel and Droop comes back and takes your bowls, he hears Krull speak to him. He responds low, "Not now" before one of the guards kicks him, "Aye, that's enough Droop! No talking to the thief scum!"
Those of you who ate feel a bit more re-energized, but you also note a tingling feeling in your skull - like an itch under the surface that you cannot get at. It's bothersome, and gives you the feeling of openness and honesty. Those of you who have been poisoned in this way are compelled to answer any questions, cannot lie, and must speak the truth. Your other companions do not know about this.
Soon after, the bars open and you see an older man - perhaps around 50 - walk into the middle area between the cells. On his shoulder is the rat you saw earlier. He sports a bald head, with some tattoos on the top of it, and his robes are a dark red. His eyes are light and bloodshot, and quickly dart around, taking in everything. He is wearing a mask that covers his face from his eyes down. Clicking with every step and resting in his hand is an ornate staff made of glass. It doesn't take any special insight to guess who this might be.
"Ah, welcome my valued guests! I must apologize for your current accommodations, of course, but I did not know you would use the sewer for your first visit to my home." He peeks around to steal a glance at Mirna and the children. "Good day, Mirna. How are you holding up? Unpleasant little business with Thel, my dear. But worry not, it won't be long now - a few hours at most until you and your family will be moved to...a more suitable location." He grins coldly. Then he turns his attention back on you, and looks at the two Redbrands, adding, "I hope my good gentlemen here saw to your health and hunger to your satisfaction? Hmm. Do not worry, I have plans for you as well. Now, I must ask, why did you come through the sewer? How came you by that information, hmm?"
