(Oh, ty :-) also my my pleasure - both to write and to get compliments. Should I ever decide to write a Khessa's novel I promise I'll send you a copy ;-) )
... Zephyros smiles at you. "Cabbage Patch Companions, you have the power to help the giants. Do what is right, but stay safe. The world of giants is treacherous for the little people, and you would be wise to not tumble head over heels into the center of it. Find allies such as I, and remember to seek Harshnag, he will help you greatly."
"We will try to be careful, my friend" Khessa hugs (as high as she can reach) the giant, gently leaning her head against his body. "But you do the same too, okay? We've seen firsthand what kind of bounty hunters are looking for you... and now that we're parting, we can't help you anymore against them! So... take care!" 'If only there were more, giants like him ...' thinks the blonde arcane warrior 'I can't wait to meet this Harshnag ... Since he has the trust of Zephyros, it will be really a pleasure to meet this other exceptional giant '.
After a while , Khessa raises her head to look at the face of her wizard friend: "I know you will also seek information on the drow who have raided my village, as you assured me" her blue eyes express deep trust. "How will we keep in touch? Shall we meet again at Nightstone in some time? Like a month? Or two? Or will you be able to find me or send me a message?"
“Fare thee well, my friend. Be safe, we shalt see thee again soon. Thou hath my thanks.” Ev’alish smiles to the giant as they descend on the outskirts of the town.
Khessa looks around, her blue eyes sparkling with curiosity, as she holds Sarvin's hand in her left hand and Yondra in her right. Anator is perched on the arcane warrior's left shoulder, completely hidden by her long blonde curls. To the tall adventurer, Nigthstone already seemed sort of big, compared to the tiny village of Twardens where she was born; Triboar is what she would naively define a town... And her heart widens to see so many farms and so many cultivated fields!
"Hey!" can't help but say Khessa "This really is a town, guys! Have you seen how many crops? Never seen so many farms all together! Here at least there will be no problem finding cabbages... Do you want to take a look, brother?" she pulls back a few strands of hair to let the bat see as well "it's really big, huh, Anator?" "But first things first" Khessa tries to focus. "We have to go to the trading post and notify Alaestra Ulgary, who runs it, of Darthag Ulgar's death. I guess none of us know exactly where the trading post is... so let's ask someone who lives here!".
And she (hiding the familiar again with her hair) begins to take her first steps in direction of the nearest farm.
Gryrim nods goodbye to Zephyros, thanking him for the somewhat safe passage to Triboar. At Khessa's suggestion of finding a local he adds "I've found the best place to gather information on a new place is the local ale house. I think we all deserve a tankard." He sticks his nose in the air and breathes deeply looking for the familiar scent of spilt ale, sweat and smoke.
Kan laughs at Khessa's amazement. "Compared to some of the places I used to live, this is barely a bump in the road." He looks sad for a moment, then trudges after Gryrim to find a drink

"Places even bigger than this town?" Khessa's blue eyes open wide "I can hardly stretch my imagination that much... It must be difficult to get to know everyone, in a place like the one you describe... But, at least, there won't be any person in difficulty, if there are so many other people around who can help... Do you want to tell us a little about what life is like there, one evening? I would like to know more".
Ev’alish stretches, pacing forward toward the town center with the rest of the group. He keeps an eye out for a warm tavern. “I certainly do not mind travel by air, but ‘tis a bit cold in the sky. I shalt look very forward to a warm fireplace or the like.”
He stays quiet for most of the walk, but points out to the group. “We hath said it before, but with the dangers we are likely to face, Yondra and Sarvin may be best returned safely to Nightstone.”
...He stays quiet for most of the walk, but points out to the group. “We hath said it before, but with the dangers we are likely to face, Yondra and Sarvin may be best returned safely to Nightstone.”
"Oh, sure thing dear!" agrees Khessa "I thought about asking Zephyros the favor of taking them back home with his flying citadel... but looking back on the bad encounters we've had, I decided it was better not to. Together, we have been able to protect our children without problems, but Zephyros alone... leaving him to protecting both himself and them at the same time... didn't seem like the safest solution to me. No, I think it would be better if we take them back to Nightstone, on foot or on horseback (horses raised by nearby ranches are good ones, I believe), right after we have told the sad news to Alaestra. After all, we have nothing else to do here... Yes, I know," is keen to point out the high arcane warrior"we have to restore the ordning and we will do it soon (or at least as soon as we can), but for now the only thing we presume (and even on this not all of us agree) is that the Storm Giants are likely involved (but we don't know how reach them) and the only advice we have been given is to look for the hero Harshnag (but we have no idea where he is). Oh right, I do not want to neglect the advice to 'train and become valiant heroes' - but this seems to me a somewhat vague and long-term task. So, while waiting to find out more (or to meet Harshnag by mere chance, or to become valiant heroes by fending off bad guys), the return trip to Nightstone is as good an option as any other".
After that, the blonde warrior-mage seems lost for a moment in her own thoughts and then suddenly continues: "Or, if we find out that here in Triboar our services are needed (giants might be causing troubles here also, who knows?), after we have helped the town we could ask Darathra Shendrel the favor of keeping Yondra and Sarvin here... They could learn a job if they want to. Or train safely to become like us, if that is what they really want. Here the army should be larger and stronger than at Nightstone (although unfortunately there is a lack of defenses like Nightstone's moat or palisade); our children could almost be safer here, until we settle this ordning matter, dont' you think?"
"In a place like this, your best hope is that there is a shrine or a very generous farmer willing to feed the extra mouths."
"Oh, well... guess we shall see" sighs Khessa. "Important thing, is 'in a place like this' there is a tarding post, most likely with Alaestra Ulgary inside. After we have accomplished our mission, we will understand if Sarvin and Yondra will be safer here or at Nightstone. And we will act accordingly".
Khessa can't help but notice how her mentor Tabaxi keeps staying silent. The tall adventurer remembers how the wizard had already looked a little gloomy at the Nightstone independence celebration... During the trip to the flying citadel, things had not seemed to improve. And even now, that the Cabbage Patch Companions have reached Triboar safe and sound, overcoming not few challenges, Kramyra does not say a syllable.
"Mistress Kramyra," the blonde arcane warrior asks her, a little worried "you haven't said a word for some time now... Is there something that worries you? Something wrong? If something is troubling you, you can tell us everything, you can trust us, you know..."
Kramyra smiles at Khessa and puts a paw on her shoulder. After a brief moment she removes it and smiles. "Dear friend," and she looks to the others to include them as well, "we have arrived at my home town and well, I feel I have unfinished business here that I must take care of. Seeing you, Khessa and Ev'alish, build a family even on an adventure such as this makes me realize I shouldn't have shunned mine like I did. Anything can be overcome, and I need to take care of this. I am sorry to leave you all with the burden of taking on such a quest as fixing this ordening, but I must." she hangs her head as she knows she couldn't have left them at a worse time.
"Thank you all for being there and saving me, I know that I've been a burden on that front, but I know you all will succeed. I will miss you." She walks around and gives a slight embrace to everyone, knowing she isn't much on physical touch, this was a big deal for her. "May our paths meet again!"
(Sorry all. I know I haven't been active on this one and I just struggled with connecting to this character. I am sorry for leaving you all, you've been great. Goliath, you're a very good DM and I hate leaving you a hole, but I figure its better for you to fill it with a character that is active than how I have been playing. I hope to see you all around the forums!)
"Mistress Kramyra..." an incredulous Khessa can't hold back her emotion "You're right, anything can be overcome, that's for sure. And if there's something you absolutely have to do... if it's family..." the blonde arcane warrior embraces with her gaze Ev'alish, Sarvin, Yondra and for the occasion also Anator, who peeped out of her curls "then I understand you. But I will miss you more than even I (that I talk quite a bit) can say. You've never ever been a bourden. You taught me magic. You exterminated the Zhentarim who wanted to take over Nightstone. You roasted the cultists who were giving us all troubles in the flying citadel. Will we succeed without you? Maybe. We will try, because we must. But no one will ever be like you and we will miss you".
My opinion is that this is an good point to introduce one or two possible new characters... we could meet them here in Triboar and they could join us either because they are too involved in the problem of the giants or, if the relative players want, because are friends or acquaintances of some of our characters. For such a meeting, better this point than in the middle of the action. I'd be OK to stop a moment the story waiting for 'recruitment'.
In case we agree to recruit: I've got to know a player that seems to be both active (she should have no problems to post 1/day) and good at role-playing and that joined D&D Beyond less than two month ago. She is playing in only two campaigns, as far as I know, so she might be interested in joining us with a new character. I can ask her, if we deem it a good idea.
I'm sorry to hear that Kramyra, I sent a message in the OOC thread.
Everyone:
Do we want to seek a new character before we continue with the storyline, I'd be comfortable with 5 or even 6 players, we're down to 4 and it might be better to have at least one more.
Yeah, this is a good moment to pause and make room for a new player or two.
