All - The door to the south opens with a crusty SCREECH, revealing another small dark room with another narrow passage that leads westward. A rat is scurrying about the otherwise empty room, it pauses to regard you all with small black eyes and a twitching nose.
Rhogarr asks if anyone thinks we should make sure the rat isn’t reporting on our movements, then looks horrified at himself for suggesting we kill something defenseless.
“Wait!” Ankita blanches, worried about what ou her friends might do after the swarm that just attacked Remi. She kneels down to the rat and using her firbolg ability, speaks to it, “Hey little guy, do you know if there are dangerous creatures down that way? If so, can you run in a circle? And if you know about how many, maybe run that many circles? It would be greatly appreciated.”
Ankita - The rat scurries over to you and sits on its back legs, staring up at you. It cocks its head to the side then runs in a quick little circle, once. It looks back up at you and rubs a tiny paw across its twitching nose.
“In other circumstances I’d have a plethora of questions for our newest friend, but given our current situation, maybe just how large this dungeon is or if it only humanoids and beast ahead. Given how….creepy these scenes have been and given the book we just found, I fear we might stumble upon some foes a little less alive in the near future.”
Ankita looks at Damian, “Why would a cat be hanging out in a place like this? Rats make sense, but a cat? Doubtful.” Turning to answer Samuel,” Those are pretty specific questions that I’m not sure how to get the rat to answer. I can only talk to it, not the other way around. Damian is right about one thing, we should get going. Just wish Rah’zher would hurry up”
“I understand.” Samuel says aloud. He then leans in to whisper in Ankita’s ear. “Do rats actually consider cheese a delicacy or do they just eat it because they eat anything?”
Rhogarr will suggest that we wait for Rah’zher to return before we continue on. Are we able to take a long rest now that it’s quiet and wait for Rah’zher here?
Rhogarr will pull out some of the shockingly good quality cheese in his rations and offer it to Ankita to offer the rat.
Ankita - The rat quickly scarfs down the offered food and then watches you with its beady black eyes. It is a decent sized rat, its body as long as your large firbolg hand with fingers pointed straight out. Its tail ends about halfway before you would expect it to, likely having been docked in some sort injury.
Rhogarr - You could certainly try to take a long rest.
All - Does the party attempt to take a long rest or press onward?
All - The flooded, rubble-strewn tunnels leading to and from this room narrow to a width of 2½ feet in places. Four rotting wooden beams rise from the murky water to brace the ceiling here. Rubble piled in the northwest corner contains nothing of interest. To the north is another short passage that leads to another small, flooded room. Murky, foul-smelling water surrounds an open stone sarcophagus resting in the middle of this crypt.
"No cultists here either, well unless they all hid in that sarcophagus." Damian says as he enters the crypt. "Anyone who could open it and see what's inside? No, not you Ankita!" He says the others.
Remi whispers and volunteers, he sneaks up carefully toward the sarcophagus, looking for traps as he goes, moving slowly. He looks to see if it is trapped, anything strange about it, inscriptions, etc.

A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
Remi - There are no identifying markings on the sarcophagus. As you make a circuit of it your foot bumps into something in the water behind the sarcophagus. Fishing the object out of the water you can see that it is the lid to the sarcophagus that has been broken into three pieces. There is an image of a screaming, axe-wielding barbarian carved into it.

"Be careful, it carries deadly diseases." Damian says, readying to blast the rat before it bites Ankita.
”Calm down Damian,” then turning to the little creature, she gives it a bit of her rations. “Thank you, friend”
She stands back up and asks the rest, “Anything else you’d like me to ask him?”
"Excellent, now we know there's likely a cat down there, no further questions Ankita." Damian says dryly, motioning for Rhogarr to continue.

As much good as the rest could do, a long rest in this environment seems less than ideal. Samuel will advise against it.
"We need to move on now Master Turnuroth." Damian responds and ushers Rhogarr ahead.
