Mavis, you tear a diagonal gash along the suit's belly and force it to step backwards. Broken links of chain mail clink and scatter on the floor.
Xai'Bo, your staff crashes down heavily on the crown of the suit's helmet. Unfazed in the slightest, it clanks onwards.
Oron, you lift your weapon in a powerful two-handed swing that could have easily split the suit's helmet in two. Instead, the sword passes harmlessly through where your opponent's neck should have been, and all the suit does is spark and shudder slightly.
Melantha, your blast of energy catches the suit square in the chest, making it stagger. When the sparks clear, you see that a fist sized hole has been punched clean through it, white hot metal trickling from the edges of the wound.
Ruel, you spot a faulty patch of chainmail on the suit's shoulder and take advantage of it, nearly severing the suit's right arm in one clean slash. The suit's arm now dangles uselessly from the few links that remain.
Bewildered and reeling from the furious assault, the armour clenches one spiked gauntlet into a fist and swings it at Mavis's head.

Xai'Bo feels the jarring in his arm as his magically imbued staff rebounds from the helmet. He brings the staff back over his head and as he swings it back up into animated armour he shifts around it so as to attack from it's back.
Movement: Moves around the amour to hopefully flank with one of the others. Action: Hits with magical staff, hopefully at advantage (otherwise take first roll) - 16 Damage: 10 (magical bludgeoning)
Sirron watches the others then glancing down at his dagger for a moment. Hoping that it'll miss his companions, he throws the dagger at the animated armor.

Mavis feels that they have an easy time with this animated armour and cannot help but think that other times this brute force would not work. It is perhaps luck that the corridor is big enough to fit four melee combatants. Still, he raises his blade and strikes the armour again. His slight movement to thrust his blade causes the armour's fist to pass beside his head harmlessly.
The suit of armour ducks Mavis's blow and another crackling blast of energy from Melantha, only to have it's head knocked off by Xai'Bo's staff, the weakened and melting chestplate cloven in two by Oron and pinned to the ground by Sirron's dagger. It pulls the dagger from it's chest and lurches upwards, only to fall apart moments later, each individual piece clattering to the ground.
The stairwell to the third floor is now free from the menace.
Ruel slightly in awe of his new comrades prowess, seeing his next action superfluous, twirls his sword through the air neatly sheathing it in one fluid motion.
Torm was clearly with them, he steps over the smouldering remains keen to resolve the mystery of baby Walter.
"The floor above looked unused, covered in dust", Xai'Bo says by way of explanation.
"It would possibly be wise to stick together", he adds looking down at the pieces of the suit of armour and letting the magic within his staff ebb away.
"We did it, we actually managed to..." Sirron trailed off slightly before looking down at the pieces of armour that now lay on the ground. He shook his head slightly before retrieving his dagger, a relived sigh escaping him as he did so.
"The floor above looks unused and dusty? Well I'm glad sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing or a bad thing but as Xai'Bo said it would probably be wise to stick together. But before we head up I have to ask, is anyone in need of healing at the moment?"
Mavis scrutinizes the fallen armour and kneels down beside it. He takes a small piece of the shattered armour and pockets it.
'Rest now, warrior, your duty and hardship is over,' he murmurs quietly to the fallen armour.
Sheathing his blade, he takes up the lantern he had placed on the floor and turns toward the back of the group to check on the young lady Rose and young master Thorn.
Melantha breathed a sigh of relief. Standing closest to Rose and Thorn, they looked around for any immediate concern before stating, "That's quite some measure of securing a home. Do your parents set this up often?"
Rose's face is pale, her eyes open wide in shock. Thorn cowers behind her. "I didn't-" she begins, then takes a long shaky breath and starts over. "I never saw them do anything like that."

Xai’Bo moves to the top of the stairs quietly and looks to see what doors are present whilst he waits for the others. He also looks for other suits of armour.
From the top of the stairwell the room branches off to the east and the west. You also notice that the mist is spreading into those rooms rather than out of them, instead leaking out from one of the wood panelled walls. Looking closer, you spot concealed hinges, like those of a secret door.
Xai'Bo looks back to the group and whispers, "We have two rooms up here, and a secret door. The mist is coming from the secret door. I suggest we check the rooms first, make sure there is nothing else lurking up here".
He will move carefully forward towards the East room once at least one of the group agrees to search the rooms.

Oron looks down to Melantha and gives them a smile. "Are you okay little one?" After receiving an answer, he'll turn toward the others. "Let's keep our eyes on a swivel. Usually where there is one, there is more. Let's not get caught off guard again." He then proceeds to follow behind the group, keeping an eye on anything that might stand out.
Ruel nods in ascent to Xai'Bo and follows him towards the east room. "Aye we still need to find Walter, " Ruel was wary though as there were still no sounds of life emanating from either room.
Sirron follows the others as they head towards the east room and nods slightly in response to what had been said. "That we do." He lets out a soft sigh as he glances at the door. After a moment he takes a breath and in a low voice he adds, "Although I'm starting to have some doubts..."
