((OOG I've never heard of Synda, so Idk if it's a place or type of tea...lol))
"Thank you!" Rawly says with a smile as he takes the cup and watches his party start moving to go upstairs. This was why Ren wanted him here, to keep an eye on everyone and make sure they could safely do their job.
He keeps his eye on the woman at the table, sipping her tea and refuses to take eyes off of her. He traces her face in his mind, looks at her clothes and mannerisms, all the while slowly sipping his tea.
"Mhmm. This is good, what's this called again? Sinka tea?"
OOC Before I misspelt. It is Sinda not Synda. Anyway, I take that roll as Nature check, not History.
Sinda is a wild plant growing in the jungles of Chult. Its berries are good against poison and disease. Its leaves haven't the same benefits but they are used for tea.
The middle-aged lady decides it is time to break the eggs. She stands up, using the beautiful stick to walk and approaches Hellmuth and Rawly.
"I apologize for earlier. I eavesdropped. That happens to a lady of my profession when foreigners came here. Even more so to foreigners of your lineage. I am Eku, a guide and I would like to accompany you on your expedition."
Lyorna casts one more glance toward the woman who was listening in to the conversation and then turns and follows Nemaia towards the room. She was confused as she had not perceived the woman eavesdropping, but she also did not care in her tribe there were no secrets kept. When she entered the room where Nemaia had gone she placed her back against a wall, leaning on the haft of her spear, she continued to eye Nemaia intensely.
Nemaia watched Lynora enter and waited a moment. When she was sure nobody else was joining them, she stood and walked to the door. A glance into the hallway was enough to confirm, and she closed the door behind her. "I apologize for the cloak and dagger. When you are of our heritage, people are always suspicious of you, so you learn to be suspicious of them, in return." She sat on the bed again, continuing. "You asked a question: what is a Tiefling. It's a curious question from you, but I think it's a question that deserves an answer. We are tiefling. We have an infernal heritage that constantly haunts us. Long story short, we are descended from demons. Thus, we retain the skin colors, the horns, the tails. Some of us are burdened with other things such as wings, but others are lucky enough to have moved past the demonic figuring and have shed their horns and tails." Nemaia looks at Lynora, pointedly. "Do you understand?"
"Indeed. But the young woman who smells like ash said you were going to search for the source of a magic. Whatever that might be, you would need a guide to step out of the Port. I strongly believe we can help each other."
Nemaia shook her head. "No, my parents were also Tiefling." She looked away, wistfully. "When I say descended, I mean a long heritage. Most Tiefling don't embrace their demonic family members." She looked Lynora over, and sighed. "My parents were killed by demons. Tieflings don't really fit anywhere. We're seen as demons by other races, and demons see us... well, not as demons. It's a delicate balance of life we hold. I'm surprised you know nothing of this."
(OOC - when a young person grows up...their body begins to....change....and you get strange feelings.....so glad I'm not the one having this conversation hahaha)
"We could use a guide in the jungle, what are your skills? Also, what's the most dangerous plant in the jungle?" Rawly questions the woman. He knew they would need a guide, Master Ren said as much. But he also knew that they couldn't take any old guide who trudges into their conversations.

"...Debts must always be paid, sometimes in more than blood and gold. But this is Ordo Ursa," Ren places his hand on Erakas's chest, right where the Dragonborn's heart is. "Right here. And it always has been and always will be. Don't ever forget that. Because I won't."

"I know many places in the jungle and can cast quite a few clerical spells. Most dangerous plant? I would stay away from Mantraps. They lure you with pollen and swallow whole. Anyway, I don't want to put pressure on you. I leave you my handout, in case you want to think it amongst yourselves. You can always find me here." The old lady makes a nod to the two tieflings and goes back to her tea.
"I see, well then I am no Tiefling..." she said with a little more pride than she probably should have. "Both of my parents are Human. I 'ave no 'orns, no tail, my skin is dark, and my eyes yellow because I reflect my lord Matalokishaa, I am 'is chosen"
Nemaia gave Lynora a soft smile. "I envy you." She quickly changed the subject. "So you've already assured me you don't consort with demons. Let us speak of this Rentaro Caeli and our mission here. What do you know of the Soulmonger? What did he tell you?"
(OOC - Do we really need a guide? We've got a native....)
OOC It is your choice to hire a guide or not.
Also, Lyorna has the map of Chult which was given by Ren. I uploaded the map on the campaign page, it is huge. The map is a secret, there are some who would kill for it.
((OOG It's something we can talk about amongst ourselves I reckon lol ))
"Well thank you. We will keep you in mind! And also we will be wary of mantraps! Be safe now." Rawly touches the paladin's arm, "Shall we go join the ladies upstairs," He giggles at that comment but then regains a serious face.

Lynora squinted through her mask as the conversation so quickly changed but then thought back to what Rentaro had said, "'e said that 'e was putting together a group to find de source or why magic was failing to bring people back from the realm of spirits..." she thought for a moment more about her words, or rather the many words that Rentaro said as he was quite long winded even in his poor health, and how to put his words into her own, "but utterwise he knew nothing. Said to wait for 'is group 'ere and dey would find me"
Nemaia nodded. "That's pretty much what we were told, as well. Since we are meeting you here, does that mean that you know the city? We need to procure supplies and a guide. Frankly, with as little information we were given, I don't really know where we should start."

Lyorna stared back, the yellow glow fading slowly from her eyes. "So you t'ree are de Tieflings, an' you 'ave demo'n parents?"
