“Aye best keep on our toes, we took out those critters right quick but who knows what could be living in a place like that.” Ragnik nods in agreement with Lucius, tightening the straps on his shield before following Lucius’ lead.
As they approach the building Ragnik moves to one of the windows to try and get sight on the inside of the building.
Lucius nods to Nadaar, happy to have some cover for the night. However after the incident with the bees, he is more cautious. "We should be careful until we have checked this place out and made sure there are no other occupants", he says, keeping his eyes and ears peeled for signs of inhabitation.

Welcome back from Christmas everyone. I hope you had happy and safe holidays. Unfortunately, Santa did not visit you at the burned Inn. But fortunately, neither did Krampus!
This fire obviously started in the kitchen chimney, spreading across the second floor roof, leaving most of the second floor open to the elements throughout the previous winter and more. It is a considerably smaller in than the Tipsy Abbott, consisting of a 10x10 kitchen, and 20 x 30 common room, a small room above the kitchen for the Innkeeper and his wife, and a common sleeping area above the common room. An old shed outback did duty as a tiny stable, hen roost and sty.
The heavy pine furniture downstairs is in good condition, but the combination of fire, smoke and the elements have started the ruined remnants of clothes and furniture upstairs.
Except for avian, rodents (mice, rabbits, a surly groundhog) and (normal sized) insects, the place seems deserted.
Ironically, you find the signpost for the inn, "The Lucky Traveler's Rest"
Nadaar nods in agreement. He starts in to straighten and arranging the worn but serviceable furniture. He checks the fireplace chimney and finding it ok starts a fire to provide some warmth, light and some elements of home’ness.
As the sun sets and night falls, your companions drift off to sleep. You can hear the slight wind whistling upstairs and moaning through the kitchen.
Eraleigh
After Lucius wake you and drifts off to sleep, the moon rises and shines through the broken front window. Mice occasionally skitter across the floor, owls screech in the night, wind occasionally whistle through the remains, and moans through the kitchen.
As you try to stay awake, it seems to you the moaning in the kitchen takes on a musical tone, and the temperature in the room drops unusually quickly. Frost can even be seen forming on the slivers of broken window glass.
Nadaar blinks his eyes a couple time and starts to gather his faculties and the situation around them. He says "Ok, let me take a look" and investigates the frost forming and the sounds.
The kitchen has been transformed by an eerie, blue light, such that the walls, cabinets and other objects as it must have been are made of light. To figures of light move about the kitchen. One is a man, who is making up the fire and is dressed in loose fitting linen clothing, heavily embroidered at the waist, neckline and sleeves, and an apron. Though you hear no words, he is speaking to the other figure. The other figure is a woman, in a linen dress similarly embroidered. She is laughing as she hangs her apron on a hook, and is obviously very pregnant.
Nadaar, you realize immediately, you are looking at a scene from before the burning of the Inn being played out by the undead. Ghosts, you guess, based on your studies of the Arcane and Occult.
Eraleigh looks like he wants to wake the others but pauses whispering to Nadaar. “Do we just leave them be? Play the part of the guest til morning? Or is that a terrible idea?”

He looks for the inn’s signpost, hoping to find a name for the place.

Eraleigh eyes the sign and the burned out inn, giving an amused huff.
“I’m not opposed to staying the night here. Something about the irony appeals to me.”

Lucius looks around the common room. "This will at least be warm and dry, assuming we can start a fire", he says in agreement with Eraleigh.
"I think we should look to set a watch from now on, just to be safe", he adds.
Nadaar nods in agreement. He starts in to straighten and arranging the worn but serviceable furniture. He checks the fireplace chimney and finding it ok starts a fire to provide some warmth, light and some elements of home’ness.
