Seeing the others taking action, and hearing Rawlings behind him, Harq leans around and looks up towards all the stalactites afraid of what else might hit him ((dodge action)).
Sarya's arcane blast causes the stalactite to shudder and contract; the creature--whatever it is--attempts to recede into a crevice in the ceiling. Its efforts are futile, for Carlos's bit of necromancy destroys whatever force is granting it animation. The gray ooze, for that is what the creature is, detaches from the ceiling and hits the floor with a loud slapping sound.
Combat has concluded.
In the northern part of this room is an elevated niche, and from the party's angle it seems to be filled with miscellaneous debris. Meanwhile, the pseudodragon sits before the door that leads into the next room.
Seeing the Ooze drop and splat on the floor Harq shudders a bit, but is glad that no one was injured this time. Seeing the door ahead he walks carefully near it and waves his hand, causing his mage hand to appear nearby. He then looks to the little dragon and says, “Glad you didn’t get hit little guy! So what’s this door? Anything dangerous here?” As it’s clear he’s heading for the door past his group, as he passes Carlos by, the cleric reaches his hand down to pat the old gnome on the shoulder ((guidance)), who then waits for the dragon’s reaction before carefully, and slowly, approaching the door, looking at it for any signs of traps or magical wards that may be on it, ((Investigation + guidance: 25)), and then alerting the party to anything he finds.
" It was stalactite. Or something disguised like a stalactite. It attacked our little dragon. So we killed it "Carlos tells Rawlings.
@Harq
" Be careful. If I am the witch. I would leave a monster that pretends to be a door here. " Carlos says jokingly. But his eyes are serious. He stands beside the gnome and prepares to help him if the door moves or some traps are activated.
Ready Action: If there is a trap or monster, Carlos will pull Harq away from the door.

"Tell me if you need any help with that door Harq, I'll just check out this stuff real quick, be ready for more of the undead though." Sarya says and takes a cautious peek at the debris on the elevated niche, just to be sure they are not missing any easily grabbed valuables. Perception: 7 Investigation: 12

Sarya deduces this area has served as the ooze's feasting place. The debris is almost entirely composed of half-dissolved bones. Sarya does notice one exception, however: a small piece of polished agate that she recognizes as a Stone of Good Luck (Luckstone).
Meanwhile, Harq studies the large stone door, which is carved in the image of a kraken pulling two halves of a broken ship into the sea. He immediately notices a small arcane rune that has been carved into the image of the kraken. He's not quite sure what to make of the rune, but the nearby pseudodragon immediately presses an image into the wizard's mind: ghost-like tentacles reaching out from the door.
"Hey, look at this, a lucky find."Sarya says and holds up a small piece of polished agate. "I'll keep it for good luck until we split any loot from here." She adds and pockets it before joining Harq by the door. "So, any ideas on how to get past this one without ending up like that ship."
(OOC: Luckstone requires attunment so we can wait to decide on who should get this when we hit our next shortie I guess.)
“It’s clearly a magical trap.”Harq says, adding, “Though unfortunately I haven’t quite learned the spell to undo it. Our best chance might be to go hide back under the stalactites and I can use my magical hand to open it.” Looking to the dragon he adds, “Come back with me and let’s see if we can get this open safely eh?”
If everyone is ok with it, he places his mage hand just in front of the door, and then walks back as far as he can, even around angles, then, once everyone is safe, directs the hand just forward to open it.
Harq guides the ghostly hand to open the door. The moment the door is touched five spectral tentacles shoot forth, lashing the air in front of the door. They continue to do so for approximately twenty seconds before they vanish. The door, however, remains shut.
While this occurs, Rawlings is pondering the arcane rune carved upon the image of the kraken. She's sure the rune is what grants the door its ability to react to its environment.
“Well!” Harq says in amazement. “At least we’re safe… though no closer to getting through the gate. Any other ideas?”
As the others talk he’s willing to guide his mage hand wherever it might be needed ((about bed time here, so queueing up some things)), and also looks to the dragon near him behind the walls and asks, “So.. have you got a name?”And if answered in the affirmative will see if he can spell it out one letter at a time quickly going through the alphabet until the dragon stops him at a letter. ((This could happen slowly as other things happen since we are in the middle of a mission and don’t yet have time to really relax, but even a letter or two here and there until he gets it - assuming it has a name, and knows how to spell… :P ))
"Yeah, yeah, you'll warm up to me once you get to know me Rawlings." Sarya says with a smile. "Ooh, thanks Harq, good thing we didn't stand close to that door." Sarya says as the tentacles appear. "We need to make them go away somehow right?."
Rawlings walks up to Harq, "Are you able to remove that rune with your special hand? I think if we remove that from the door, that it will take care of the tenticles." She then turns to the rest of the group, "or if someone has a ranged attack that could possible dislodge it from the door?"
" Scales? " Carlos looks at the little dragon blinking his eyes. " It seems he likes the name… and our tiefling. Okay you're Scales then, little friend."
@Sarya
" Violence is a master key to many doors. That's the old saying of adventurers. But we can do another trick, if the rune stone can't be removed. Attach a rope to the door, tie the other end of the rope to one of the stalactites. Then the would keep open even after the tentacles disappear.… hopefully" The cleric shrugs.
Seeing the others taking action, and hearing Rawlings behind him, Harq leans around and looks up towards all the stalactites afraid of what else might hit him ((dodge action)).

"Yeah, admit it Rawlings, you like him too." Sarya says smiling over at the tiefling and the pseudodragon.
Rawlings looks up to see what Sarya is referring to, and seeing the door with the rune, she tries to think back if she can recall anything about it.

In response to Harq's question, the pseudodragon responds telepathically. Elonast.
