Wildred grabs the rope and runs for the spider arching over Rasmae as she lies face down in the dirt. He swings the rope as best as possible toward the beast tangling its two front left legs and yanking it towards him.
Rasmae, trying to find her feet, grabs the rope she had already tethered to it and yanks hard. As she does, the spider loses balance and comes down. Its giant fang scrapes down her right arm and hand (Rasmae, you take 4 piercing damage and please make a DC 11 Constitution saving throw against the venom).
Balliol grabs a rope and remembers what he learned riding the snail, swings it, tangling the rear right leg of the spider, and it is now thrashing around on the ground, trying to find its feet. Seemingly more dangerous than when it was standing.
Stalker makes a run for the beast in the centre ring and attempts to jump onto it with the other hands. The giant spider jerks and bounces, throwing all of those that had it braced off of it, including Stalker and shoots sticky web all around, just missing Stalker, but several of the other hands are now stuck in its web along with the already embalmed Uzsany.
You now have one half tethered giant spider thrashing around on the broken Stand F. It can use its four left legs and one of its right legs.
The other spider in the centre ring has broken free of the hands formerly restraining it, and most of them are now bound in its sticky web. Stalker, it is looking at you fiercely and you begin to wonder if restraining this beast is the best option.
Arosstrolls through the main boulevard of the carnival in her glimmering dress, a soft pretzel in one hand and a tall beer in the other. Her act took less time than she expected, so she has about half an hour to herself before she has to go change and get back to her shift. She thought about staying for Uszany's performance but nahhh. Spiders are gross, and anyway, she doesn't often get a chance these days to just enjoy the carnival. The place is pretty quiet with most of the visitors watching the end of the acts over at the big top. It's peaceful! She takes an enormous bite of her pretzel and sighs contentedly. She's having a lovely evening!
Bugs looks at the other rabbit and yells. "Get out of there! These things aren't your friends right now!" He keeps pulling on the rope he has to keep the tension on it, but as he does so he looks around for something to tie it to. He is right near the stands. That should work. He does his best to wrap the rope around the stands and tie it off. It might not hold it permanently, but it should slow it down. As he does so he is looking for another rope to grab or throw. He knows he has one in his pack, but it would be quicker if there was one laying around. This thing had too many legs! What happened to the good old-fashioned "two legs and their down" maneuver? Stupid spiders!
(If you need a roll for tying it off let me know.)
You look out the back door of the stage tent, and you see a large grassy, circular area surrounded by condensed bushes. About twenty or so wagons line the perimeter, and a fire with makeshift seating around it smoulders in the centre of the area. A few tents and some piles of crates and barrels are scattered between some of the wagons. At a glance, the place seems to be deserted.
Balliol, You attempt to tie the rope onto one of the stands (F or G? Roll a Dexterity check please), looking around you see that there are still a few ropes and other props at the back corner behind Stand G near the stage tent about 20'-25' away.
Wildred, You attempt to tie the rope onto one of the stands (F or G? Roll a Dexterity check please), looking around you see that there are still a few ropes and other props at the back corner behind Stand G near the stage tent about 20'-25' away.
After tieing off wildred attempts to help out at stand G.With a rather unconvincing battle cry he runs and grabs a rope and attempts to lasso spider G.
Balliol attempts to tie the rope to the stands at G. (Dex roll = 11) If it fails he will keep hold of the rope and try again next turn. If it succeeds he will move the 20-25 feet to where the ropes are, use his item interaction to grab a rope, and then dash back to closer to the spider. Assuming he can't then try to lasso it again, he will simply get in a position to do so. He will not be on the G stands in case the spider is able to move/jerk them. He will closer to F. Also, if by the time he returns with rope he sees that the spider is seriously threatening the injured other harengon or Wildred he will position himself in a place to try and distract it.
Halei doesn't want to give up her search just yet. She goes to hide in the nearest little tent to wait and see if anybody comes in. Perhaps she will overhear something important. If no one comes in after a while she'll return to help her friends with the spiders.
Aros sits herself on a bench overlooking Silversong Lake to watch the swan boats paddling beneath the starlight. She waves down the vendor of a passing ice cream cart. A friend of hers! "I'll take my usual, Gertrude. And you know what? I'm feelin' adventurous! Throw some hot fudge on there too."
With a wink, Gertrude constructs a picturesque double-scoop cone of rich, deep blackberry and bright vanilla, positively dripping in hot fudge. She garnishes it with a pink macaron and a tossing of almond slivers and coconut shavings before passing it to a grateful Aros and going on her way.
Aros savors the beautiful cone, and once it's gone takes almost as much pleasure in licking the chocolate from her fingers one by one. She chuckles, thinking of Resmae and how scandalized she'd be to see her not using a napkin.
I wonder how she's doin' tonight,Aros thinks to herself. Maybe I'll bring her some ice cream! No, wait, she's probably on call right now for Uszany's act... Ah well. Tomorrow!
Aros's ears perk up momentarily at the sound of shrieks from the Big Top. Oh good! she thinks, licking the last spots of fudge from her pinky finger. The show must be going well!
Wildred successfully ties off the rope, tethering the giant funnel-web spider to the stand (F) and, with a bellowing warcry, runs to the back of the Big Top, grabs another rope and dashes to the centre ring.
Out of nowhere, a large, aggressive dog suddenly appears out of thin air between Resmae and the now tethered spider, still thrashing about on Stand F. The dog launches at the spider and bites down into the spider's many eyes. The dog then turns, picks up the tiny Herongon lass in its mouth like a rag doll and disappears from sight, all this happening in the blink of an eye.
Balliol, questioning if he saw, what he just saw, takes action and tries to secure the spider some more by tying the rope still in his hand to Stand G. As he pulls the rope toward the stand, it reaches its end and flicks from his grip, coincidently catching on the other side of the spider and stand F. The spider has slowed its thrashing and looks to be in a bad way.
Stalker, shaking off the near-miss from the spider in the centre ring, takes no chances, drawing his shortswords. And with the skill of a sushi chef, he slices off the beast's two front legs at the trochanter. The spider swiftly strikes back, sinking its fangs into Stalker's left shoulder, where his armour mostly holds out. Mostly! (Stalker, you take 4 piercing damage and 2 poison damage.)
Most of the crowd has run, save a few bloodthirsty onlookers. Resmae has disappeared, and the other animal handlers are all trapped in the spider's web in the centre ring.
The spider tethered to stand F, with a dark, black-green ooze discharging from the wound in its head, is barely moving now. The spider in the centre ring is worse for wear but not done yet. Stalker has wounded the beast, and Wildred looks to be heading over to help him.
Halei, You slip into the small tent to the left of the entryway to the staff area. You can hear something coming from somewhere around there. A deep incoherent mumbling, like someone talking. But you can't understand it. You look around and see all manner of goodies. Dried foods, fruit, barrels of ale, jerky etc. (Looks like you found the staff pantry). You wait and try to discern the sounds.
…
After some time, you hear some folk coming your way.
‘Wha… what has happened here? … Aros?“ You hear one of the voices say.
Aros, as you sit by Silversong Lake, enjoying your decadence and thinking of Resmae, Sammy, her blink dog, appears with Resmae in his mouth. Sammy places her on the ground in front of you and looks at you with puppy dog eyes. Resmae is not moving, and there is a long scratch down her right arm that is bleeding a lot. (Nobody at the carnival really knows if Sammy is Resmae's pet or it is the other way around).
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Jimsapps and Resmae
Aros pulls her finger from her mouth, wide eyed. Her other hand goes instinctively to a saber, but instead drops to her knees when she sees it's Sammy, and she sees what Sammy's holding. Examining the brutal gash along Resmae's arm with dismay, she says to Sammy "Aw Sammy, why'd you come to me? You know I never paid attention during yearly first aid training..."
But regardless, Aros will do her best (with her -1 medicine skill modifier) to stabilize Resmae, and then get her to the nearest first aid station.
