Droknin lets out a small sigh, then closes his feline eyes and take a small breath. "It is ok little Droop, we are north alright. Maybe, just a little off the target. We will try to get this sorted out." Droknin then turn to their host. "Well, Mr. Wester. We actually came from Phandalin, and we did meet the Townmaster there. It is a little bit of a long story. When we make it back to the town, we will deliver your message." Droknin turns to the others. "So, my friends. Does it make sense to go to this Thundertree? Where did I hear that name before?"

He had a run-in with some mercenaries, so he may have neglected his other obligations. Speaking of... what sort of supplies? We've seen a cart on the way, but it didn't seem to be carrying food or the usual equipment."
She pays any sum Wester demands for rations for the five of them, then turns to Droknin and the party. "Thundertree? Don't you have a friend there, Garrin? Maybe they know something. To me, that place sounds like our best bet."
"Mercenaries? Hrmph. Harbin needs to pay more attention to his town. And it's just our usual supplies... feed for the animals, rations, liquor and coin to pay the lumberjacks, re-sharpened saw blades. If I find out he simply forgot to send the shipment, I'll bust his lip when I see him next."
Since you didn't agree to make a quick run back to Phandalin for him, he will agree to feed and let you camp here for 5gp per day (5gp for the entire group, not each).

T'laren, the camp is just for the capture and production of raw lumber. They have a few heavy saws for quartering trunks that are too large to move otherwise, but that's the extent of finishing work they do out here. From the stacked lumber, it appears they are mostly taking medium-sized pines, though whether that is by design, or because it is all they are finding at this location, isn't clear.

[As there was already some work put into secure lunch, let us assume everyone sat down and ate before moving on.]
Leaving the lumbercamp behind, with bellies full of bacon, the party turns west and follows the Neverwinter River toward the ruins of the old village of Thundertree. Along the way, Droop, either unable or unwilling to grasp that she is no longer your guide, continues to search fruitlessly for the goblin castle.
As you travel, you pass the handiwork of three previous iterations of the lumbercamp you just left... places which show the foundations of old cabins and where all the trees of suitable size have been cleared away. It looks like they have been slowly working their way deeper into the forest in pursuit of quality timber.
As the sun sinks low in the sky, the forest thins in a more natural way as you reach the very edge of Neverwinter Wood. The soil here is rich and dark, and the landscape still shows scars from the eruption of Mt. Hotenow, the disaster that devastated Neverwinter some 30 years ago. While there are young trees and shrubs here, all the older tree trunks are just charred husks.
You cut across a trail and turn to follow it.
Gradually, the trail becomes an old, overgrown lane winding between dilapidated buildings choked in vines and brush. Ahead of you, in the middle of the settlement, rises a steep hill, upon which stands a stone tower with a partially collapsed roof and an adjoining cottage. A dirt road hugs the base of the hill and wends its way between old stone houses, many of which are roofless ruins with interiors open to the weather. Other buildings appear more or less intact. The whole place is eerily silent.
A wooden sign is nailed to a post nearby. It reads: “DANGER! Plant monsters AND zombies! Turn back now!” Below that the sign is marked with strange symbols.
Garrin:
While you can't read it, you know well enough that these are druidic symbols, placed here by your pal Reidoth.
You enter the ruins from the East. There are several collapsed and damaged buildings within sight. To the south is a more sturdy looking cabin, while to the north is a courtyard with a tall statue, and beyond that a more fortified looking stone building.
Garrin, the last time you visited the druid Reidoth, he was staying on the opposite side of the ruins.

Garrin will hold up a hand. "My old friend used to live on the other side of this ruin. Allow me to send my spirit to get his attention. Maybe we can avoid the worst of the troubles here with a guide."
Garrin sits down and scribbles a note into his book, before closing it up with the pen marking the place. He hands it to the Spirit of Air and Darkness (imp) who turns invisible and heads off to find Reidoth.
Reidoth,
My friends and I are on a bit of a wander. We saw your sign on the East side of Thundertree. I would be terribly grateful if you could guide us through these new troubles. I'd love to enjoy a bit of tea with you. Hope all is well. Write back soon.
Garrin dispatches his spirit pal, who takes the message and disappears into the dusky twilight.
T'laren steps into his echo and observes the ruins of Thundertree from the vantage point of the roof of the nearby cottage. He confirms the fortified building to the north looks like an old barracks or armory. East of that, a hill rises atop which sits a small tower. Further more is an old tavern. The village center has a couple more cottages that look mostly intact. Otherwise, the rest of the buildings are in ruins.
To T'laren's surprise, the door to the cottage opens up. A figure in black leather armor emerges. "I think one of those twig blights is up on the roof again. Hold on... I'll knock the bugger off," he says, talking to someone else still inside. He holds a sling in one hand and starts to look up at the roof, when he sees Garrin, Droknin and Keashirryl standing off to the side of the cottage.
"Hey! Who in the Nine Hells are you?"
