"I'd didn't even shoot this time and I still got caught in the backlash! This is getting personal." Randy feels his way to his arrows, positions them by feel on the bow. He closes to within 30 feet and fires at the remaining node.
((how do you want to handle this? Advantage, disadvantage, or neutral? Under normal circumstances I would think disadvantage due to not being able to see the arrow to aim by, but then there's Ulwin's targeting spell and I don't know how Randy's third eye is going to play into this.))
Dornikal and Ulmwin are audible, so it seems they are still there, but invisible.
Randy's done messing around, and the portal has shrunk down so much, and the fire on the other side pulling air in leaves the last remaining nodule clearly visible to him. He sights down his arrow, reaches out with his planar connection and looses the arrow as he flashes back to visible for everyone else. The arrow whizzes past the swirling vortex of the portal, its trail leaving a streak of luminescent energy as it hurtles toward its target—the last nodule of planar connection.
The moment the arrow strikes the nodule, a powerful surge of force magic erupts. A dazzling explosion of pure white light radiates outward from the impact point, temporarily blinding those nearby. The force energy resonates with the interplanar energies, causing a cacophony of ethereal reverberations that echo through the swamp. The nodule thrashes to tatters, its connection to the land beyond severed, and the portal's instability becomes apparent. The swirling vortex wavers, its colors intensifying to a blinding brilliance, before crumbling inward like a sinkhole in space and time.
The portal implodes, folding in on itself in a mesmerizing display of interplanar energies merging and converging. It looks like a cosmic singularity, a transient bridge between worlds, before fading into nothingness. The once vibrant colors diminish, leaving behind only a faint, ghostly echo that dissipates into the air.
As the last surge of magic releases, Randy is engulfed in an explosion of flame, as is anyone within 20 feet of his location (30ft in front of the portal). Flames whoosh outward, and the care taken to keep fire on the far side of the portal goes to naught as flames lick up the vegetation in the area of the swamp. Messy and Randy's pack are at a safe distance.

Flames lick up the invisible form of Dornikal as he's caught unaware, while Randy manages to somehow avert his face and take less of the heat.
((33 fire damage to Dornikal, 16 to Randy.))
As the initial flame washes over the area and dissipates except where something has caught fire, Randy becomes aware of two things. Firstly, that the area is suffused with a strong, appealing odor, and secondly, that he's aware of hundreds of mental pinpricks of something located within the swamp, in a manner similar, but not quite the same as his ability to sense the presence of portals or certain kinds of creatures.
((What is a scent that Randy would consider to be an 8 out of 10 on a scale of unpleasant to pleasant?))

Anyone within 30 feet of Randy does indeed smell baked apples.
There are a few pinpricks nearby, and following his sense of them, Randy finds a clump of mushrooms growing on a log. Most of that he can sense is interspersed through the swamp, but he picks up a larger signal in roughly the direction of the trail leading from the now closed portal.

This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
(Well DM I'll let you choose whether or not Ulmwin was actually close enough, especially at the point where they would have gone invisible! With minor illusion being thirty feet he might have moved closer, but I also imagined them being close, so...)
"I'd offer you some healing?" Ulmwin says. As he does, he's heard vaguely approaching Dornikal's location... And eventually, moving further away again, as the gnome, testing ahead of himself, passes by the hunched down dwarf.
"But I think there's some mild complications with that..."
"On the log that smells like burnt hair and meat. Follow meh voice."
Dornikal begins a prayer to Dumathoin,
"Oh great Treasure Under the Mountain, please keep us safe and on yer path. Let yer holy hand direct meh and meh friends away from other portals that give us eyes, make us invisible and blow up."
It's more specific than normal, but he just wants to be clear.
"Ah, what happened?! Are you guys still there?!"

Randy sniffs the air. "Does anyone else smell baked apples?" He looks around questionably trying to identify the source of the mental pinpricks.
Anyone within 30 feet of Randy does indeed smell baked apples.

Dornikal growns at being crisped.
He sits down on a smoldering log and grumbles angrily.
"Smell apples? Aye smell burning dwarf. Hydra hurt less that that."
Smoke is rising off Dornikal and he looks rough.
"I'd offer you some healing?" Ulmwin says. As he does, he's heard vaguely approaching Dornikal's location... And eventually, moving further away again, as the gnome, testing ahead of himself, passes by the hunched down dwarf.
"But I think there's some mild complications with that..."
((Randy is the only one visible, though there may be some smoke rising off Dornikal and becoming visible.))

It's more specific than normal, but he just wants to be clear.
Coljin moves closer now, from behind a huge clump of trees where he has been hiding. "Are we done here, I hope?"
He looks about at the others. "Who needs some healing?"
"And yes, we need to ask our archmage to look explain this!"
(Sorry, I missed all that fun)
Trailing a few wisps of smoke, Randy goes looking for the larger signal. Hearing Dornikal's prayer, Randy gives a hearty "Amen!"
To Coljin: "Better check on Dornikal. I think he took the brunt of the blast. I got singed pretty good, but I ducked most of it. I'll be okay."
Coljin will heal everyone up.
