The Sundered Way

Randy is taking the time to look the situation over.  (( How big of an area is involved with the spheres, and how big is the area the "fiend"  is in.  Randy is also going to try to guess as to exactly what kind of spell they're dealing with.))

Arcane: 17

Randy hasn't a clue as to the type of spell.

Dornikal would like to hit it again, harder if he can.

The spheres of effect are about 30ft radius, with an overlapping 20 ft between them, wherein the figure is rummaging through the books. Beyond concluding that it's some manner of warding, Randy isn't sure of its specifics.

Seeing Dornikal repelled - sort of - by the spheres, Tinker opts to take the scientific approach.  Moving towards the edge of the spheres, the artificer raises one hand and...  Punches it.  Though, their fist stops short of the sphere, and a shockwave carries onward.  "Perhaps magic can disrupt the effect, or pass through it.  If so, I can strike at the creature."

Tinker feels their fist sink in, it's greatly slowed, the thunderous energy thrumming from them being swallowed and causing ripples within the overlapping sphere. It takes effort to move his hands if he wishes to withdraw them, but the spheres don't seem to be immediately damaging him.

Ulmwin pauses. Come on, knowledge is supposed to be kind of his forte, right? What is this? 

Arcana 21

Randy starts muttering to himself out loud. " Something is off here.  He's holding back.  He could've used something lethal with us, but he hasn't.  This almost feels... personal?"  He looks intently at the figure .

Ulmwin forces his eyes to look at the runes, though they keep wanting to slip to the side with a revolting feeling. He thinks the runes are emanating some sort of aura, that seems more defensive than harmful, as both Dornikal and Tinker have breeched it without issue.

Both the gnome and Randy feel that the robed figure is indeed holding back, buying time with the runes to continue searching the books for whatever it is they are looking for.
