As they start to get the ship ready to departure, Hamish approaches Agnarr when the large man isn't occupied and hesitantly asks, "What kind of leader is your father? How does he treat his people?" The question carries a weight behind it, but is clearly one of curiosity and worry.
"Alright, we have a crew. We have a ship. We have a plan. And we are ready. Let's sail!" Ida winks at Agnarr as he gets the crew in place and barks out the orders as needed. Before long they are out of the port and Aoi is speaking with Agnarr to confirm the course.
She pulls Hamish to her side and whispers "I am so proud of you! You've been amazing on this journey, I'm so happy to have met you and become close. I love that we've become our own crazy family."
Overhearing Aoi's question about Agnarr's homeland, Darwin sidles a bit closer. He has no knowledge of anything in this world, beyond the places he has been, and is interested to know what he is getting himself into now.
He finds Caper asleep in the crow's nest and decides to leave the Faerie Dragon be for now, whilst they are so close to port.
Hamish smiles at Ida's words, then looks a bit distant before haltingly asking, "Ida, you're family are nobles in Haukberg, right? Are they ... good? Like did they try to help people like you do? We've just encountered so many people that use their station or power to oppress or hurt, and I'm trying to figure out if anyone in a position of power doesn't do that. It's disheartening, but I want to think there are leaders out there like you and Darwin."
"Unfortunately Hamish, most nobility are only able to retain their assets through their loyalty to the people in power. I know that many of my ancestors probably did despicable things to get their place at the table, and to retain it. Luckily, due to the family name, I think the past two generations have been spared from doing anything too dishonorable. They don't share all my beliefs, and would prefer for me to conform to their ways. But, they have allowed me the freedom to live this life and to still return home when needed, which shows me they understand more than they are willing to admit.
I've met many that have some form of power, and most are more interested in keeping that power than helping others. But, there are a few that are truly good. And that I would always trust to make better decisions for the people as a whole."
"General information mostly: cultural customs, etiquette, and anything to watch out for. I don't want to step off the ship when we land and make a complete ass of myself out of ignorance," Aoi says with humor in his voice.
Hamish considers Ida's words thoughtfully, turning over the idea in his head several times from the long silence. "If the good with power are rare, what do we do about the bad? Is there a way to stop them? To make it so they don't harm others?"
'The southerners are a hard folk, a warlike folk. They are blunt and do not appreciate sarcasm, passive aggression, or any other ways to avoid being blunt. They appreciate strength in all its forms, strength of arms, strength of conviction, strong of character and so on. If you enter a home, they will offer you hospitality and food, if you refuse it is rude. Do not make threats lightly, they will be expected to be followed up. There are many many facets to our society but those are the biggest.'
"Good to know", Darwin says to Agnarr, even though he wasn't really part of the conversation.
"How long is the journey?", he enquires.
"Unless you need me, I would like to take a look at the stuff we found. See if I can work out what it all is. You are all welcome to join me, I think Caper might be useful in helping as well".
"Definitely good to know, I'm glad I asked," Aoi says to Agnarr.
"I'll go over the course some more. Let me know if you discover anything interesting," Aoi shouts the last part to Darwin as he disappears into the cabin. He then turns and walks toward the helm.

Agnarr shrugs, 'He is hard but fair, I suppose. It's a hard land with hard people, and he is a ruler to match.' He says while working the lines.

Aoi consults with Agnarr about the best course south.
"Can you tell me about Suðureyjar? I have sailed in the oceans around it, but I've never set foot there."

'About 7 days, depending on the weather.' Agnarr answers
Darwin nods at Agnarr’s reply, then calls Caper and they both disappear into the cabin with the bag of holding.
"Definitely good to know, I'm glad I asked," Aoi says to Agnarr.

Which items would Darwin like to look at first?
Darwin takes out the staff first, and looks to Caper.
"What do you think? Have you seen it's like before?", he asks.
Darwin recognizes the properties of the staff to be the properties applied to this artifact; Staff of the Woodlands
