"Apologies Aldheim, his temperament is something we are all still trying to understand." Ida moves slowly and as non-threateningly as possible. All of her weapons are away and her hands are in front of her so that Aldheim can see them. "We will be on our way back to the Duke now, he's asked for that creature to study and I don't want to have to keep it overnight. If a coach can be hailed, we will get him loaded up and off your docks."
Ida asks Darwin or Hamish to carry the trap up to the entrance of the docks and to hail a coach..
Once they have left, she puts a hand on Toryn and tries to send positive energy and thoughts to stabilize him.
Aldheim grunts, 'If he comes back round here, I'll finish the dang job. Thank you for clearing out the cats though. If the rest of y'all ever need anything I can help with just holla at me.' with that, he wipes the blood from his hands and walks away to go retire for the night.
Darwin steps back from Toryn, watches Aldheim walk off then walks over to the cage.
"Come on Hamish, let's leave Ida to it", he says and starts dragging the covered cage towards the entrance to the docks, muttering "Let's hope he knocked some sense into Toryn".
"No, he didn't. He's a dragon born, who's strong as hell and who has run these docks without major issues for years. You picked a fight with the wrong person, and you're going to be in pain from it for awhile. Can you stand? We need to get you into a coach."
Darwin finally makes it to the entrance of the docks, and looks about for a coach. Spotting one he holds his arms up high waving in it's direction hoping to attract the driver's attention.
He turns around as Ida and Toryn approach. "You ok Toryn? Looks like you could use a lie down. You all sure we should go to the Duke like this?"
Ida walks Toryn to the entrance of the docks to meet up with the others. "I know you'd like to come see the Duke, but I think it's best if you rest and heal while we go. We can stop and get you settled at an Inn, go drop off this damned cat, and then come back to the Inn and have a meal. Then when we wake up in the morning, see how you're doing. I'm sorry I can't do more, but until I get some rest I don't think I can do anything else. I'll cover the cost of the inn for everyone if you all think this is a good plan."
Toryn is visibly upset about this, but he sees the wisdom in what they are saying. Aye. Take me to the inn. He immediately passes out in the coach, hoping the ride isn't too bumpy for fear of any further harm.
You hail a cab and it takes you to the Duke's palace through the Artisan's Ward, where they make a brief stop for Toryn to be offloaded into a tavern and then on to the Palace.
As you approach the doors, 2 guards lower their halberds across them to block your entrance.
Darwin walks towards the doors, helping carry the cage, or at least touching the cage and trying to look like he is helping.
"We have something for the Duke's aid, you know, the Elf with the bird?", he says matter of factly. "If you could tell him we are back from the docks and have the creature for him that would be super", he adds.
He turns to Ida and Hamish, "I hope this doesn't take long, I am famished"
The guards raise their Halberds, 'The Chancellor will probably be in his office.' they say, allowing you access.
As you enter, there's another guard inside. 'Follow me.' he says and leads you to a room, that he knocks on the door of. A voice answers from within. He opens the door and speaks to the person inside then gestures for you to enter.
It's a large space, lavishly decorated but most of the furnishings are bookshelves. At the back of the room is a large wooden desk, two chairs sit on this side and one on the other, in which the Chancellor is sat, his Raven perched on a perch nearby. A large window sits behind him that would backlight him during day time hours. As it is, several candles burn on and near the desk illuminating his work.
He is engrossed in some sort of paperwork but he gestures without looking up for the party to approach.
'Did you solve the infestation problem?' he asks, reading the tome before him.
Darwin wanders in and looks around, spotting the raven. He assumes Ida will talk with the chancellor, these were her folk after all, and so moves over towards the perch.
He starts to make some bird calls and gestures towards the raven, encouraging it to fly onto his outstretched arm.
"We did, at least to the best of our knowledge. As agreed, we've brought you one of the creatures to study. As described, they react strangely and are challenging to handle." Ida is confident and selects her words carefully with him. Using the term magic may have him asking questions about people or their abilities and she felt it best they avoid that entirely.
The Chancellor turns his head slightly towards Darwin, 'The raven doesn't eat.' he says with a somewhat blunt tone. 'but there was talk of them having an unstable relationship with magic, did you witness this?'
Ida has been studying the chancellor and decides to take a chance on what seems genuine interest. She knows he must hold some magic himself so he may be asking in esrnest to better understand what not to do. "They do, but in all the rush it was difficult to understand exactly what happened. I can attest that they aren't something I would want to try to cast a spell on to destroy them." Ida grabs the trap and holds it out towards the Chancellor.
The Chancellor smiles. 'Oh this is great. Please, please, place the specimen on the desk.' the excitement in his voice is obvious.
He pours through the tomes on his desk and pulls out a leather bound book. 'I got this, and many others, from a gentleman with the carnival from a few days. He claimed to have taught himself magic, which is of course preposterous, but he had so many books on magics from other realms.' he's transformed almost into childish excited was.
'I was wondering if this creature appeared in any of them, particularly this one, it's a menagerie of creatures in what he called 'The forgotten realms'.' he flicks through the tome to a page that he had clearly marked ahead of time as a potential and waits for the creature to be placed on his desk.
He looks up from his desk expectantly. 'Which of you caused the reaction?' he asks, 'I see the touch of magic on all 3 of you...'

Darwin rushes over to Toryn, frantically trying to help, but not really knowing how.
“Ida, you’re a healer right? Can you help him?”, he says looking up at Ida hopefully.

Toryn opens his eyes to see Ida. The bastard sucker punched me.

Toryn slowly eases up to his feet, holding his head in agony. Yeah, I think I'll be ok. Thank ye fer savin me

The bird looks at Darwin and cocks it's head to one side then flutters it's way over to your arm.
At the mention that you managed to secure one of them, the Chancellor does finally look up. 'You did? Well bring it here.' he says excitedly.
'Did you happen to confirm the reports of unusual interactions with Magic?' he asks eagerly.
Darwin strokes the head of the raven, turns to the chancellor and asks, “Do you have any food I can feed your raven?”.
“The creature isn’t natural”, he adds absentmindedly waving his free hand towards the cage.
The Chancellor turns his head slightly towards Darwin, 'The raven doesn't eat.' he says with a somewhat blunt tone. 'but there was talk of them having an unstable relationship with magic, did you witness this?'
