Darwin considers for a moment before replying, "Agreed, as long as you take the memory from my time with the carnival, not from my time at home, or from my time here"
The figure leans forwards, and you are overcome with the scent of fresh spring flowers as she kisses your forehead and suddenly, a memory is gone, as is the figure. The dream seamlessly becomes a regular dream, set at the Carnival.
Ida, you wake up, restless and uneasy. What do you do?
I hate not being able to sleep through the night, it always makes me feel like I could have done more during the day.
She lays there, rerunning the events of the day through her mind, trying to control her breathing to fall back asleep. No luck. She knows the only thing that helps sometimes is to go for a walk, so she gets up, gets fully dressed, and heads outside.
Peter follows you down the street as you stroll. 'Maybe it's your conscience?' his voice asks, with a hint of amusement. 'You did well today.' he adds, with more sincerity, 'You could have easily let the Dwarf die.'
"You know better than anyone that I don't like to see people hurt, especially good people who are trying to do their best. He hasn't had an easy life, he still has a temper about it, but I think he will soon understand that he can let it go." Ida looks over and is able to see Peter next to her. So much more reassuring than when he was just a feeling she could never see materialize.
"I learned something tonight, I'd love to know what you know about it. Apparently, I pull magic from the divine plan. I have no idea what that's supposed to mean but something tells me you know quite a bit about it." Ida asks earnestly, and hopes that Peter will finally explain what has been happening.
When you look at Peter you see the man you've seen for years now. A narrow nose with thin lips, large round eyes with severe eyebrows and heavy lines, giving him a slightly owlish look. He looks to be just a regular man of advanced years, you'd place him around 60 if you were to guess. He's dressed in priestlike robes.
Those eyebrows rise as you make your second statement. 'Well, you didn't think that everyone had an angelic advisor, did you?' he asks with a smile that seems strange on his face. You don't think you've ever actually seen the man smile on the few occasions you've seen him.
"Is that what you are? An angelic advisor? You do realize that I've rarely heard your voice, and when I have it's usually been a simple question and then you disappear again. Why do I have an angelic advisor?" Ida had stopped walking and had turned to face him in the hopes he would continue the conversation.
He quirks his head to one side. 'Well, you were chosen...' he says mildly confused. 'Blessed at birth and made divine. That's why I'm here, to act as a guide. That's why you can heal people. That's why you're driven to help people. Our Goddess empowers you as her champion on this material plane.'
Ida is shocked and trying to process what was just said. "Blessed? Chosen before I was born? But why me? And why wasn't I told? Shouldn't I have been trained? Are you going to help train me? How long have to been guiding me? Are you able to influence my choices? Is She? And how many planes are there? How many champions does eh have?" Her voice started to trail off. She knew she had just lost control for a minute and it may cost her the answers she so desperately wanted. Peter had only shown himself a handful of times. This was the first true conversation they had had. And he could disappear at any moment. She almost reached out to try to take his hand, but stopped herself.
He smiles softly. 'You have been trained, no? Or were you born knowing how to use an axe? I don't really do anything, I keep an eye on you, a little reminder that someone is always watching. There's many planes and I don't know.' he tries to answer the flurry of questions. 'You're starting to get more comfortable with the power you can access, which is good, but you should always push yourself, that's how you get stronger.'
She knew it. She knew he would disappear. She had walked a fair distance, she decided to turn back towards the inn. She needed sleep, maybe this would actually help her sort things out so that she could rest. Blessed. Chosen. By a Goddess on the Divine Plane. The words just kept repeating in her head and she walked back.
The sun dawn's over the city of Haukberg and you all rouse and meet in the tap room where the Dwarf provides each of you breakfast ahead of your respective days.
Toryn walks in and orders his usual. The barkeep looks at him with disdain for the damage he caused the last time Toryn visited, but his weekly tab is enough to replace it within the month; so he goes off to fetch the order.
Hamish, very awake and nervous about his upcoming meeting with the chancellor, sits beside Toryn. He rasps, "You know I can't do much more than whisper without pain? It's from this." He points to the encompassing scar on his throat. "But maybe magic can make it so I can hear what my voice is supposed to sound like. I'd like that."
Ida makes her way down to breakfast, trying to still figure out what Peter shared last night. She did sleep, and she feels reste. Maybe even rested enough to speak with her family. That thought brought a frown. She realized it as she saw Hamish and Toryn sitting together because her face quickly changed into a smile. "Good Morning! Today is going to be a great day!"
well perhaps one day it'll get sorted out. Ye deserve better Toryn tells Hamish. He means well, but is surely lacking in tact, as the others are beginning to see in him. Ah, there she is. My savior! he hollers, drawing more attention to Ida than she cares for.
Darwin wakes from a deep sleep with his forest home at the forefront of his mind. He washes and gets dressed in a bit of a daze, not quite feeling himself. No that wasn't true, he feels like himself, just with a bit extra. Did that even make sense?
He wanders down to breakfast and sees the others already together. He wanders over to the Dwarf proprietor. "Coffee please", he says sleepily, before joining the others at the table.
"I slept hard", he says yawning. "How are you all?".
"Ready for the day, how about yourself?" Ida smiles as Darwin sits down. They still have some time before everyone needs to head off, she's hopeful each of them are excited about a new day filled with new opportunities.

As the cool night air graces your skin, you feel a familiar presence watching you from the corner of your eye. You know that Peter is with you
Hi there, Peter. Are you the reason I can't sleep?
