Through the night he wondered for a while about what the medusa wanted and so Krayne decides to try again in the light.

"You have held back and deceived us from the start, I want the truth from you, and I want it now!" He grabs the front of Baltus' shirt and pulls him a half step closer. "My power, granted as a reward for my dedication to my Oath tells me you are essentially a good person. You are hiding something from us, what is it? What did the medusa want, what was in the chest and where is it now. If you are struggling to decide what to say look at my companion over there, yes the one turned to stone - if you knew you could help us so much why didn't you offer this information before? If we had known we could have planned differently and maybe Ursal would be joining us for breakfast and that medusa would be a corpse on the floor like your cows! "
Krayne holds Baltus' gaze for as long as Baltus can stand to look at his burning eyes.
"Get....get off me," Baltus says his annoyed expression burning now with fury before looking genuinely afraid as he pushes Krayne away. "I've never seen that beast in my life," he replies. "As for the magic...it just comes and goes...I can't..I can't control it," he replies.
Brida then appears in the barn dropping a basket of eggs that crashes to the floor as she rushes up behind Krayne pounding on his back only seeing the Aasimar holding her brother menacingly.

"we should head out to find this 'Healer' you told me about last night"
Viktor continues to talk as they prepare to head into town
"can you tell me more about your mother and her death? how did your mother, a trained druid, and your father, a simple farmer, end up together?"
"and this man that allegedly killed your mother, what kind of man must he have been, to overpower and kill a trained druid. how was he captured and imprisoned?"
The twins back away from the Aasimar, regardless of his intentions he's made they both very wary of him now. After Viktor asks his questions Brida goes a little pale as Batlus puts an arm protectively around his sister.
"The old chieftain's son actually," Baltus begins. "He and my father were always rivals for my mother a newly arrived priestess of the temple of Aegir here," he explains.
"Our father was a farmer yes but a talented man with a lute or a lyre when he wasn't behind a plow," Brida adds her expression softens slightly. "Our mother was a healer you see as well as the protector of the sea. Her arrival here gave the village a boon and many blessing from Aegir," she adds proudly grasping a leather string around her neck and producing the symbol of Aegir.
"Before we were born and she first arrived to the village she healed the chieftain when he fell gravely ill," Batlus interjects. "When he woke from the fever plaguing him he said he owed her a great debt. She continued to help the village," he explains.
"Then when my mother fell in love and wanted to marry my father the chieftain blocked his own son's claim and he allowed it," Brida begins again. "This only seemed to enrage the prince but the chieftain shielded my parents because of the debt he owed my mother," she explains. "Our lives were good. My father's farm became the largest in the village thanks to the blessings of Aegir and our parents hard work. The almost two years ago now when the chieftain mysteriously died one night, everyone in the village knew it was the prince's who had stewed in his angry for years..." she pauses as Baltus interrupts.
"He has a witch you see that did it," Baltus exclaims. "After the chieftain's death our troubles began anew. Both our parents of course kept us from the troubles growing up as Brida grew older the prince's intentions began to follow here too," he says as Brida's face burns with embarrassment. "His intentions became less subtle for Brida as we approached our fifthteen name day," he says as Brida hangs her head. "Last year our mother was attacked in her temple," he explains. "Even the visiting clerics of Aegir couldn't stop whatever it was that ended up killer her! A formless shape of utter darkness they said came for her," he adds as Brida stands stoic by her brother's side.
"With our mother truly gone as well as the old chief the village suffered under the rule of Prince...Dag...Dagmar," Brida finally spoke the horrible man's name! "Our corps withered and even the sea turned soured the fish dead on the beach," she explains. "Then Eerika came and challenged Dagmar for the throne. Eerika bought her husband's small army to Stokkr from a neighboring village of Vanoot and overthrown Dagmar with our help. "Then it was just a few months ago the animals in the fields began to disappear nothing but blood or parts left to divine from. Ballen was clueless," she adds. "Eerika sent Ballen to Haakon to find a solution and that night our father disappeared from the fields defending the sheep. Then after Ballen did not return people were sent to find him. They found his pack and blood on the road several miles leading to Haakon," he explains. "The next day we set out to Hagar to find you," he finishes.
"Ursal will be safe here for now," Brida explains. "The new chieftain's stronghold is just up the road," she adds gesturing out towards the proper road that lead back to the village and not the short cut along the peat bog. "We can go now," she adds. "The new chieftain overthrown and imprisoned her nephew for his crimes," she then explains. "Eerika is a wise woman," she explains. "She took her brother's death and her nephew's betrayal very seriously but asking for outside help was hard for her. In sending Ballen it was her first attempt to help us after the reckoning of her nephew for the death of the chief and our mother. I think she's concern that other tribes will learn of our trouble and invade," she adds.
"this would seem to be a much larger situation than we were first described"
Viktor gives the siblings a look that shows he is disappointed in their choice to hide the full details until now.
"my fist guess would be that the potentially numerous monsters that plague you and the town, are all confederates of the former 'chieftain' and his witch"
"we are going to need all the help we can get, let us depart for the healer at once"
