Aurora and Mina clap for Aelyn's impromptu song. Rosie leans over to Cadoras, mischief in her eyes.
"Did we just get excluded from the song?"
"I daresay we did!"
"This is erasure, Silversong! Erasure, I say!" Rosie states, shaking her fist.
"Surely our passing the test is worth mentioning as well!" Cadoras groans, then laughs and waves his hand."Nah, I'm just kidding. I guess we'll have to work harder to make it into one of Aelyn's ballads, eh Rosie?"
Ambre laughs, going into a long conversation that involves the words 'initiative' and 'stat generation', along with asking about more books she could read about the LARP guild stuff on the way to the Cafe.
Ambre sits though the song, laughing at Rosie and Cadoras's rant, "To be fair, neither of your names start with A. But you'll both always be honorable members in my heart," she pokes Rosie and Cadoras in the chest.
She finally seems to remember the box she had brought with her, opening it up and digging around. She pulls out several rolls of paper and whoops loudly, "Blueprints, Awesome!"
Arvol waves his hand at Aelyn. "Let Mina do her job. I've just got plans tomorrow night, but I'm sure we'll be long finished with duties for the Star before that." He gives Aelyn a look, trying to catch his gaze. "I am quite sure Mina has no interest in that." With that he heads over to the table, helping to gather up some of the plates, cups, and other items to make it easier for Mina to clean.
It's a moment or two before he looks around, wondering where Aithne has gone. He finally spots her over in line.
Klok remembers something suddenly "Oh! Ambre, I have a surprise for you! Yes, indeed, a surprise!" Klok roots around in his bag before pulling out a little container with Count Croakula
"Oh, I apologize, didn't notice you there." Aelyn says as the LARP:ers arrive at the table. He is a bit surprised at their comments as he can't recall even talking to the green haired elf and only briefly to Rosie, but perhaps it was inappropriate to mention his friends in a song as others apparently were present. "That was most ungallant of me to not include the two of you, you'll have to forgive me Rosie." He says and leaves the table.
"Yay!" Ambre practically squeals, taking the container, "oh I've missed you so much Count Croakula! Dad never let us have pets at home. Thank you Klok"
Were sweet rolls the same as cake? They had virtually all the same ingredients; flour, sugar, eggs... They were just individually portioned. Aware that was likely her best option, Aithne requested a dozen of the sweet pastries, thanking the individual behind the counter of the Firejolt Cafe as they were handed over. Carefully, she carried the plate back over to the table where the rest of her schoolmates were waiting. "They didn't have, ah, cake." She explained apologetically, placing the platter in the middle of the table. "But this is still, um, celebratory? Congratulations on passing your exams, everyone!"
"Ooh, evening plans, huh? What are you getting up to, Arvol?" Mina asks with a smirk. She leans in close and whispers, "A date?"
Aurora and Rosie dig in, each grabbing a pastry.
"Thank you, Aithne, these are delightful! I hope no one minds I claimed the only cherry danish."
"Dibs on the cinnamon bear claw! And Klok, wow, you got Croakula back! Better not let Ellina see him, hopefully he doesn't blow up again!"
Cadoras leans down and rifles through his bag. "Thank you, Aithne, but I'm not very fond of sweets. I brought my own snack, though!" He says, producing a jar of pickled onions. "Ambre, you can have my share of the pastries."
(Sorry - I adjusted my post a bit since MightyOwl posted while I had been typing the original.)
"Those look great Aithine!" Arvol says enthusiastically. "Of course, it's celebratory! And congratulations to everyone." He quickly snatches one of rolls and stuff a large portion of it into his mouth. His mouth still full he says, "Delicious."Finishing that, and now speaking normally, he steps over closer to Aithine. "Make sure you get one too. And that was really sweet of you to get these for everyone."
Arvol then quietly sighs as hears Mina's questions begin. He knew with his sisters this path never turned out well for him. He replies in a whisper to her, "Yea, a date. So I'm hoping it won't be too late in the day when we finish up the work for the Star. I don't think we have to worry about Aelyn covering for me."
After a moment he glances around, noticing that Aelyn had left their table. He says to Aithne, "Hey, I'll be right back." He then steps away, walking off through the crowd looking around for Aelyn.
Klok's eyes light up as the plate of pastries is brought over ignoring the conversation. "Oh, perhaps I could have one" Klok does not wait for an answer and takes 2
Aelyn enters the Firejolt Cafe again, accompanied by Arvol, seemingly in better mood again, taking a seat by Aurora. "Mm, Cherry Danish, looks delicious."
Aithne gave Cadoras' jar of pickled onions a look of horror. The idea that he could prefer those pungent snacks over a sugar-dusted pastry was heinous to her. Of course, Aithne's sweet tooth was well known. Any chance she had for a candied treat, she took. And that was especially true when the other option was a jar of preserved, salted onions. "That's okay, Cadoras." She finally said, still looking mildly distressed. "You're welcome to celebrate, um, however you'd like."
She gave Arvol a smile as he moved to her side, lowering her voice just a little to say, "I don't mind. Everyone deserves a treat for passing the exams! And these are all my favorites, so I don't mind letting everyone else choose first. I'll be happy with whatever is left since I got to pick them all!" She noted belatedly that Aelyn had left and found herself hesitating to choose a pastry before he returned. When Arvol indicated that he'd return shortly, she nodded, hoping he was intending to go find their missing companion.
In the meantime, she seated herself next to Klok, listening to the interplay between her classmates with a smile. Even after they separated into their specialties, she hoped that this could continue. It seemed heartbreaking to her that their friendships might fracture once their first year was over. And speaking of their continued schooling... "Aurora?" She asked, tipping her head toward the damphir. "Do you have any suggestions for, ah, managing performance anxiety? It's just that..." Aithne bit her lip. "I think I could benefit from some tips and you seem so, ah, confident on stage at the Bow's End."
"Sweet of you to buy all these pastries Aithne."Aelyn says, smiling to the aasimar. "She really took you to pastry heaven, right Klok?"He turns to say to the loxodon. Noticing Aithne haven't even taken one herself he waits with taking one of the last pastries.
"So, you know Ambre from the LARPing right?" Aelyn says curiously and politely to the green haired elf, trying to engage in a pleasant conversation. "What role do you usually play?"
"I was, um, happy to." Aithne smiled at Aelyn. It seemed like they were both hesitating, so she broke the stalemate by snagging a pastry with a smattering of powdered sugar dusted across the top. She then nudged the plate toward him. "Take one if you'd like. They're supposed to be a reward for passing our exams! Or, ah, Cadoras has pickled onions." Aithne kept her face from puckering, but only just.
Aithne took a bite of her chosen pastry, a soft hum of pleasure accompanying the first taste. The flaky exterior was light and delicate. It had a dark chocolate filling and the sugared top was a perfect accompaniment to the bitter cocoa. The Firejolt Cafe had the best pastries. With Arvol's return, she leaned into his side and asked in a whisper, "Is Aelyn okay?" She was hoping that he might have some insight into what was bothering their friend.
"Thanks Aithne, I sort of already had my reward..." Aelyn says smiling, glancing over at Aurora. "...but I might just take you up on that offer." He adds, looking at the last pastry. He then can't help but notice how Aithne truly savors hers so he decides to nudge the plate back towards the aasimar. "I think you or Klok will enjoy that even more than I would."He says with a warm smile.
"So, Cadoras, pickled onions, a rarified taste one might say." He turns and says with a smile and a wink at the green haired elf.

"Apparently so!"
Ambre laughs, going into a long conversation that involves the words 'initiative' and 'stat generation', along with asking about more books she could read about the LARP guild stuff on the way to the Cafe.
