Whistler was muttering to himself as he came back from his hunting trip empty handed. Seeing the others, he went quiet--no need to announce his failure. "It's not like I spent my life out in the wild, though," he thought as he pulled out a ration to eat.
“If you don’t mind I’ll set up a camp, I can take first watch if you don’t mind”
The fighter nodded, then wiped away the crumbs from his mouth before adding, "I'll take the next watch, then. An' we can make that a regular thing too, if ya'll reckon it's okay."
Once that was settled, he pulled out his entire collection of daggers and darts--all but the two he'd handled earlier--and set about his nightly sharpening ritual. On occasion, anyone watching would notice he simply opened his hand rather than reach for the next weapon... sometimes it would float from its place on the ground toward him, but just as often, nothing would happen, and he'd have to reach for it anyways.
He also looked around every so often, still wondering what had become of their smaller companion.

Case shrugs his shoulders, "I was built for the purpose of stopping an apocalypse at any means necessary. If servitude was not required, then I would not need to serve. However, these events are close enough to an apocalypse to give me a purpose again.
But yes, you can trust me."

Gear wonders what kind of people programmed Case in the beginning: hopeful defenders of the realms, or fearful remnants of a losing fight. He wondered if this was a time of overall heaven or hell, do sometimes the minutia hide the overarching story at hand… while we wanted about, the tidal wave of history rolls through unimpeded.

“Azaka, what have you lost in the jungle? What has been five-fingered away by this fire you speak of? Stolen or given? And what help do you expect?”
”to be blunt, I wonder if our mission is the more dangerous, or yours.”
"I'm not sure I understand entirely your mission, at first I thought you wanted to visit Nany Pu'pu in Mbala, which often ends bad for visitors but getting to Orolunga is just a matter of moving through the jungle which by itself is as hard as going anywhere else here... I've slayed a fair share of Pterafolk myself but this is an old Aaracokran nest that they took over a a while ago, I'm a skilled fighter but I'm better when my feeth aren't falling from 300 ft, Pterafolk can fight on the ground but they are more agile flying and we'll it doesn't require much skill to drop someone from the rock (firefinger) when you have no risk of falling to your death"
“Azaka I would offer to take the first watch with you, but to be honest I will be in watch with you like it or not, for I need not sleep nor rest, my burden of life is this eternal.”
Sitting next to her to at an angle where he can watch into the jungle, he picks up a few pebbles, “do you think we need some light? If it gets any darker I can’t see anything.”
With that Gear casts light on one of the pebbles and throws it about 35ft away from himself into the jungle in the direction he is facing.
“if you can watch the other side without it feel free. I also have some fishing line and a bell, if we need to set up a perimeter.”

Today wasn't as hot as it gets here, maybe you'll show yourself later" says Azaka as she stops staring and simply shrugs after not catching a piece of skin or any other clue to get a better idea of what Gear "is" or what was him wearing.
Aranea didn't like the sound of that prophecy at all. She was glad it hadn't come to pass, at least not yet anyway. She thanked Case for his story.
At Whistler's response, Aranea chuckled. "Of that I have no doubt," she said. "Have you ever taken a job like this before, Whistler?"
While the warforged learned how to fish, Aranea helped Azaka set up camp. As the others decide on the watch schedule, Aranea agrees to take the third watch shift.
"You really don't need to sleep?" Aranea asks Gear. "That sounds very useful."

Gear watches the light from his pebble shine off the various foliage in the underbrush, recasting and throwing another pebble in a similar location each hour.
“But yes Aranea It is useful in times like these, when living or dying might be the difference of a few seconds or a few inches.” He smiled his best attempt at conveying assurance to this creature who was not yet fully aware of just how temporary and fragile life really was.

Case thinks for a moment, "I cannot recall what the apocalypse was. However, it was foretold in a prophecy. That much is stored away, somewhere.
When the ground turns liquid, the false prophet shall bring forth the fall of all life.
Never did figure out what that meant.

(does ‘assisting’ give him advantage? If not I will also try to fish after him)
Yes, since you are able to fish with your gear I'm ok with that.
