if you continue with a normal pace/speed you’ll reach the jungle after the 4th night.
What you can see from this point are around 40 miles of sand transitioning to the jungle “terrain” at the distance the jungle of Chult shows what you would expect, big tropical trees but also large elevations from rock spires. Some of these spires can be seen emerging from the sea as well.
"Of that I have no doubt," she said. "Have you ever taken a job like this before, Whistler?"
As he finished his sharpening and began putting away his weapons, Whistler shrugged and gave another rather reminiscing smile. "Well, if'n you mean with a group, not many," he began, "I usually work on my own. Biggest group was 'bout nine years ago when a city near my hometown realized they had them a serial killer on tha' prowl. A night-stalking summa-gun who stuck to the fancy neighborhoods, so the mayor hired me an' five other mercs to handle it real quiet-like. We got the job done, but not as quiet-like as tha' mayor wanted. Heh. Almost got into it over him wantin' to cut our fees."
At this point, the older fighter had almost settled into a rambling story-telling mode, but hadn't seemed to notice. "Now, if'n you mean a job in the wild like this, well, no sirree, I usually keep to cities and towns fer a reason. I can follow a criminal to his hideout in the slums in mah sleep, but livin' off the land, well...." He shrugged again and spread his empty hands apart to acknowledge his unsuccessful hunt. "But, I wanna make tha' best of my... new opportunities, so startin' with this job seemed like it made sense--even if it means needin' to pick up a new skill or two on the way."
As the conversation dwindled, Whistler nodded his understanding as Aranea excused herself to help Azaka setup camp. "One night was prolly 'nuff old man storytellin' for anyone," he chuckled to himself as he settled in for the night.
The evening went without event, Gear noticing the changing of shifts the other went thorough, all along casting light each hour on these little pebbles. Gear has risen and walked over to the spot where he was aiming, finding them scattered across a 10ft radius. Better aim tomorrow night.
“Time to rise!” Gear has a way of living by the sun’s timing, LIKE CLOCKWORK.
“Whistler, Aranea, Case, Key, Azaka! Let’s see what this jungle has to offer us today!”
*Gear suspected Azaka was already awake… worrying most how Whistler was adjusting to the jungle, how Case was doing with the party, and just what Key was up to… did their patron put Key up to these disappearing shenanigans? What he on a mission they didn’t know about?*
the jungle is a dangerous place to not be aligned as one force, one mechanus.
“Whistler, Aranea, Case, Key, Azaka! Let’s see what this jungle has to offer us today!”
A little startled, Whistler's eyes flew open. He was a light sleeper anyway, but he normally managed to wake himself up as needed. He was NOT used to his name being called out in... well, in whatever one would call a warforged voice.
He quickly sat up and looked around before his companion's words actually registered... there was no danger, just him acting like a cock crowing at dawn. "That might take some getting used to," thought the older man as he rubbed a bit of sleep out of his eyes and stood, decades of discipline driving him into action.
First things first--practice. The fighter extended his hand down toward his sleeping area, and with a jolt, his bedroll sprang up into his grip. "Not bad," he thought to himself. "Getting easier each time." He then closed his eyes and focused a moment, replenishing his psychic reserves. His hope was that by constantly pushing himself, he'd be able to manipulate smaller items effortlessly; for now even those still took a little out of him to move.
Still, his telekinetic practice done, Whistler put his things away, took a drink from his waterskin, then stepped to the side of the group for a bit of normal practice. He carved a few circles in three nearby trees, then stood at a good distance, flinging his weapons at the center of each carving. His style was distinctive, almost lazy in appearance, and with weapons discretely pulled from seemingly everywhere on his person, but with both dart and dagger he generated just enough "snap" at the end of each throw to hurl them with deadly accuracy. Some spun as they flew--usually the daggers--while others traveled straight as an arrow--typically the darts--but he automatically adjusted for the different shapes and weights of the various blades. As the weapons rushed to their targets, each produced a quick, whistle-like noise... enough to make obvious the man's nickname, even if the sounds varied in pitch. Ten minutes of "phwip - whisss - thunk!" repeated over and over, with occasional stops to retrieve the blades, were apparently all the man needed to keep his skill honed.
It was only then that the bounty hunter took the time to prep himself for the day, before finally gathering his things and getting ready to head out with the rest of the pack.
Aranea startled awake at the sound of Gear's voice, her hand instinctively going for the dagger she always slept with, tucked under her bed roll. Her eyes darted around, looking for danger, but it was just Gear waking them up. Smiling ruefully, she began to gather her things and roll up her bed roll while Whistler began practicing his...was that telekinetics? Her eyes widened again. She thought he was simply a fighter, but it appeared there was much more to him than met the eye.
"Good morning, Gear, Case," the thief said as she finished packing. "Wow, that's very impressive work. I see now why they call you Whistler."
Stepping up beside the older fighter, Aranea removed her own dagger and tried to imitate Whistler's style, throwing the blade deep into one of the carvings, but she could not replicate the whistling sound or the way his blades seemed to twist in midair. She shrugged ruefully. That was when Key seemingly appeared out of nowhere holding an armful of fish.
"Where did you get off to?" she asks, trying not to sound too accusing.

By the time Whistler finished his morning routine had already picked up camp and had been scouting the area to determine the best route to follow. A huge splashing sound echoes through the rock spires surrounding the beach, the splashing sound is followed by several wings flapping as sea gulls and other birds escape from there [ no need to roll perception here as the creature that emerged from the water is big enough for everyone to see] a giant snapping turtle drops its body to a huge rock 60 feet from you (the rock is emerging from the sea, so the turtle is surrounded by water) and remains motionless.
“Let’s start moving, giant turtles are often hunted by lizardfolk or flocks of pteranodon if we don’t hurry we might get caught in the middle”
In order to determine the outcome of actions that your character do we need you to roll dice it doesn’t work simply by calling it. In this case if you’d like to show up with a bunch of fish you need to roll survival with disadvantage that means two times and keep the lower result if you are not proficient in that skill. I also asked you to send me your character sheet pdf to update your sheet I can’t share my content but I can edit your character with it.

Whistler looked at the snapping turtle; it was big, but not THAT big, and it seemed odd to him that any beasts attacking it would be that dangerous. Then again, he hadn't gotten to the age he had by ignoring the advice of others more knowledgeable than him, so he made sure to follow Azaka's lead away from the sea creature.

“Let’s keep this pace the closest to the jungle it’ll be easier to find better places set up camp.” The day continues with the party moving forward. Azaka pointed some good spots to fish and shared some advice with Whistler
“You know? Hunting out in the wild is not that different than man hunting. Animals aren’t dumb creatures maybe if you respect that you’ll have better luck next time”
Once the sun set Azaka looked for a place to rest survival2
Another night without proper coverage, in addition to that Azaka noticed some troubling marks on the sand.
”I really consider we should stop right now, the time is appropriate and moving further may place Us in an unfortunate situation with whatever was here before us. It seems like a giant crocodile emerged from the river…but something drove it back, usually that happens when they catch their prey or when they are attacked. Either way we could encounter whatever drove it back or they usually return to places were they managed to get food…this is a common route to travel with canoes or on foot as we are right now. What would you like to do?”
Whistler stroked his beard. "Well, I reckon if we's just as likely ta run into trouble movin' on, might as well just stop at the appropriate time and place and take ah chances." He smiled at Gear. "And whiles I admit I could use a good scrap ta stay sharp, if they ain't gotta bounty on their heads, I'd just as soon avoid the hassle."
He then lowered his head and looked at the warforged conspiratorially, hoping he'd pick up on the jest as he continued, "And now, don't you go claimin' that any poachers that might show up already got bounties, just to start sumptin'!"
(( OOC: In case it's not clear, Whistler would prefer to stop and make camp now, but he's okay with camping off the main path, a little away from anyone else walking past. ))
Aranea was full of nervous energy, but she knew better than to go looking for a fight. A long life on the streets had taught her the value of being elusive when necessary. Still, she was itching to swing her rapier; it had been a while since she'd had the chance. She didn't want to get rusty.
"I think it's a good time to set up camp," Aranea says. "Maybe not too close to the water..." She is thinking about crocodiles. She's never seen one up close before, and she decides that if she ever does see one up close it probably won't be a very pleasant experience.

He then turns his attention back to Azaka and nods his head.

Aranea watches the snapping turtle with barely disguised glee. She's never seen anything like that in her life. It's so majestic.
"I'm glad we aren't going to kill it," she says, following the others.
