Physical Description: 5’11” slender gentleman with olive skin and moss colored straight hair. An intricate gold and silver choker reveals his connection to high elf society, as well an intricate high elf ring that glows with energy to anyone who is an arcane adept.
Background: Sage
Backstory: Alessia was one of the centennial exchanged peace offering between the high elf and wood elf societies in the mountain forest region he previously called home. Raised within the Wizarding school walls, he could always beat the other children in a foot race, and spent his free time sneaking into the mountain waterfall cliffs and peaks. Instead of knowing the world of trees and foliage, he knew the world of mountains and clouds, of polite society and arcane study.
Ability Scores: Str 14, Dex 15, Con 13, int 9, wis 16, chr 11.
Name: Lazarus (Laz) Audwin
Race: Human (non-variant)
Gender: Male
Age: 26
Class: Ranger
Physical Description: 5'11 slightly muscular male. Pale skin. Evergreen colored eyes. Brown short hair that points slightly.
Backstory: Lazarus was raised by a druid mother and a ranger father. He was taught to hunt, survive, and be in the wild from a Young age. He would go out everyday to the woods and live amongst small animals till it was time to come home. As he grew older he found comfort in humanity but always remember that you can't trust people.
Background: Custom- Alone in this world (Sage/folkhero)
Physical Description: Brown - hair, skin, eyes - all with golden undertones. Dressed in brown leather and brown boots with a mossy colored cloak.
Background: Folk Hero
Backstory: Beryl grew up in a village of hill dwarves, in the hills near the coast. Her father was a woodcutter, her mother brewed ale, and she became a skilled woodcarver, making toys for the village children, decorative furniture and shelves and such for the adults. Her sister joined the local church devoted to Moradin. Her two brothers cut wood with their father. It was a peaceful existence, if busy. A few years ago, the great flood hit, and her village was inundated within hours. Mudslides, sudden sinkholes, nearby marshes became a virtual sea, and the village filled with a raging torrent of water. Beryl pitched in after making sure her family were safe, helping rescue people from buildings, tending to wounds, finding missing people, burying the dead. It seemed she was everywhere. Once the waters receded and the villagers could start putting their lives back together, the town council recognized her hard work, praising her for saving so many. A local druid took note of her work, and saw a spark of something in her. She trained with him, and discovered that piece of power that nature gave her. Recently, her teacher said he had taught her everything he could, and now it was up to her to find a way to use her abilities and learn to train herself. She now travels, looking for people to help in the small ways that she can. She's a bit shy, leaving the area she spent her entire life in for the first time.
Physical Description: Shay is a slender, young elf about average height for her race. She has short auburn hair with a shock of blonde streak in the front. Piercing green eyes with a sly smile that she uses to her advantage.
Background: Haunted One
Backstory: Growing up, Shay had a pretty simple life with her parents and her sister, though she always hung to the shadows, not one for the limelight like her sister, Aldessa, was. Aldessa and Shavaris were little troublemakers as teenagers, her sister putting on a show in the town square while Shay relieved the onlookers of some of the weight they were carrying. Nothing serious, and it never got more criminal than the pickpocketing. This life changed when bandits raided her home, killed her little sister and almost killed her. She was so close to death it changed who she was, becoming almost a phantom of herself. She yearns to have meaning and joy in her life once again - she just doesn’t see it happening to her.
Background: Fenric spent years learning the lore of the multiverse. He scoured manuscripts, studied scrolls, and listened to the greatest experts on the subjects that interest him. Fenric's efforts have made him a master sage for the Pandion Order.
Backstory: From a small mountain town, Fenric answered the call to serve the light and to serve helm. Feeling the need to confront the darkness, pledged his service to the militant holy Pandion order where he became an adept priest as part of the order. There he split his time in learning the ways of Helm, and his martial skill will weapons and armor.
Backstory: Halovar was the only half-elf in his village. His mother never spoke of his father, always changing the subject if asked. In time, Halovar stopped asking. His mother was a talented cartographer and made enough money from her maps of the nearby region to support a modest lifestyle for the two of them. Halovar spent much of his youth learning his mother's trade. They would go over her maps late into the night as his mother taught him about the geography, history, and people of each land. Life was simple for the child, even if other children his age tended to avoid him.
This would all change 8 years ago. Halovar's village was visited by soldiers carrying the banners of a nearby nobleman. They declared that morning that the village was property of their lord, and mysteriously demanded to know where the cartographer lived. Halovar was returning from the market at the time and could only watch as his mother and her maps were rounded up by the soldiers. The village initially resisted the control of the nobleman. Halovar joined with some others and fought a few skirmishes against the noble's soldiers. Things seemed to be going well, until they became enough of a problem for the noble to take the field himself. Armed with a black greatsword and wearing black armor that seemed to smoke, the noble was a vision of death. Many of Halovar's allies were intimidated into surrender within a few moments of the noble's appearance. Those that were not, Halovar included, quickly learned that the weapon was not for show. Halovar only survived because the noble noticed his heritage and chose to beat him with armored fists rather than cut him down. He was left for dead in the village square, the noble walking away and muttering a half-heard comment about Halovar's father.
Since then, Halovar has traveled far and wide mapping every step of his journey. He hopes to one day return home and free his village, but has no idea how that might be possible without a large number of allies and powerful magic. In the meantime, he tends to drink his memories away in taverns and get drawn into fights against tyrants and bullies.
Physical Description: Evrik stands about 4'8" and is fairly stout. His hair is a dirty blonde and he wears a carefully braided beard. He has searing blue eyes.
Background: Sage
Backstory: Evrik grew up in the small community of Hytoppe whose town center was atop a bald hill that sat near a great forest. The townspeople were a tight knit crew keeping mostly to themselves apart from the few who ventured out into the world to trade for the few goods that the industrious dwarves did not make themselves. Evrik’s mother, Evannugh, lost her husband when Evrik was a small child. As Evrik grew, he found that there was a mystery around the disappearance of his father. Most of his questions surrounding that loss went unanswered or were met with vague recollections or riddles. To help Evrik deal with these questions and emotions, his mother introduced Evrik to a local priest when he was old enough. Evrik found solace through study and conversation with the priest leading Evrik to continue his studies and understanding of the divine.
Through his association with the priesthood, Evrik began taking part as an acolyte in the town’s annual rite of the wood. During this event, the village elders would place offerings at the alter which laid just inside of the great forest. The ceremony was generally a brief and uneventful exercise followed by a great feast and faire in the town centre.
However, Evrik’s continued studies began to raise questions in the young dwarves mind. The yearly ritual of the wood seemed to raise tension in the older townsfolk. And Evrik always felt like people avoided him just a little more during the days and weeks leading up to the event. He always felt just a little more of an outsider at that time of year. Why? And could it be related to his father’s disappearance?
In search of answers, Evrik devoted himself to Berronar Truesilver and his studies, learning all that he could of the priesthood, the wood, and the natural surroundings that supports the people of his land. Evrik had a great love of life and nature but was especially intrigued by the inexplicable connections between all living things and the universe around them. This led Evrik to study the arts of healing and sickness and he perfected his brewing techniques for medicines, and the more enjoyable infusions. To a lesser degree, Evrik also studied the teachings of Haela Brightaxe. For a dwarves long life many times lead to the defense of another and luck and honor in battle are granted to her followers. Pursuing his studies and wondering about his father, Evrik decided to join one of the trade caravans one year following the thanksgiving ritual. He wanted see if the wider world beyond the great wood would provide any answers, and certainly knew it would provide him more knowledge. The caravan was made up of a few of the more adventurous dwarves from Evriks village, mostly older men. But also a few young men around Evrik’s age. Some of which he knew from his days in school. As they traveled along the edge of the great wood he talked to the younger men about what they expected to find in the towns beyond. They talked of gems and treasures mined from the hillside, the intricate tools and armaments that they created and planned to trade. At night, when resting, the older men would tell stories of past travels and long ago battles. Evrik absorbed it all and would fall asleep dreaming of adventure and unearthing long lost knowledge.
