Jack is quite happy to not have to work a long shift and tells Dora where Jacoub lives, a place that she recognises.

As the morning progresses several of the day's shift arrive to be greeted with much appreciated mugs of char. Then, as the distant sound of the candle caller's cries for the second candle is heard, Jack gets to his feet with a sigh, saying, "Well that is me for this shift, I am off to my bed." Alice and Luca also get to their feet, Alice stifling a yawn.

Dora's hand all make their goodbyes and head off back towards their respective homes in the built-up part of the Ward. Meanwhile, the day shift hand seems to have all arrived, apart from their handleader.

"I would not wait for Handleader Yohannen," says Watchman Yar, a Sorendenese man of Dora's acquaintance. "He has probably been caught up in business at the Sheriff's Office. No doubt you will cross his path as you head back that way yourself."

[OOC: This is why Dora has to go to the Sheriff's Office: to do the handover. And, because she cannot write, she will need to detail events to the officer of the watch verbally, who will record it in the logbook. She also would regularly go to Sheriff's Office before her shift to get these notes.]

[OOC: Appropriate or not, if that is what you want her to do in this case, we can assume that is what she does. If you want to actually write out what she says, feel free to do so, or you can simply paraphrase what she says. However, if you do the latter, please let me know if there is anything you don't want her to say.

FYI, none of them have mentioned the death of Saladin Brassman since they have arrived, so it is quite likely they have all come directly from their homes. This is also the likely reason that their handleader is late in showing up because he has been finding out about this at the main office.

Finally, most nights at this watchpost would not have been so busy as last night. So she generally would not have a lot to say in a handover.]

Dora stands and draws the attention of the incoming hand.

"Morning to you all. As Handleader Yohannon isn't here yet, I need to let you know of what happened last night. There has been a double murder, Saladin Brassman in his own home together with another man whose identity is yet to be confirmed although we are pretty sure we know who he is. Dark magick was involved. We also have a witness to dark magick who fled us in fear and almost caused the death of one of the night soil crew. His name is Samel and he is not to be trusted, arrest and restrain him and send word to the Sheriff. Take a care today as Dark Magick is afoot. Your Handleader will let you know more when he arrives."

Dora sets off to the Sheriff's Office, although it has been a long night, the thought of finally going home rouses her spirits and she sets a brisk pace.

[OOC: Here are the answers you need:

1. Samel's Master: Brutha Hazluk
2. Apprentice Seekers met: Apprentice Basilly Cullen and Apprentice Midian Voda.
3. The leader of the musicians you met outside the Shepherd's Rest was Zed de Maclan (an innate sorcerer according to Guilliame). His daughter's name is Janny and you never found out the name of the group itself.
4. Zed's group are staying at the house of their roadie, Oswan Rabal, a boarding house with the name Ocean View that is at the north end of North Port. He was the one that got involved in the fight with the farmer and according to Guilliame is an innate sorcerer of minor power.
5. The two Stemians with the spears in the Shepherd's Rest were Canna and Wilma, a brother and sister from up country who had recently lost their parent in some sort of violent event. They had come to the city to sell furs but Dora never found out where they were from.

[OOC: If you hadn't already noticed this, Immanuel Maclan (the night soil cart driver) and Zed de Maclan might have some sort of family connection. See here for a reminder of what the 'de' means in terms of Sorendenese names.

Mind you, both Zed de Maclan and Janny de Maclan have auburn-coloured hair, whereas most Sorendenese have black hair, so there might be no connection at all, or only a very distant one.

Finally, Wilma and Canna never said their family name or the name of the village they lived near. I forgot to clarify that in my last post.]

Dora arrives at the Sheriff's Office and walks into the reception.

As Dora heads back towards the Sheriff's Office she is met by Handleader Yohannon on his way to the outpost.

"Hello Dora," says her colleague as they meet. "It sounds like you had a very adventurous night last night. It is shocking about Brassman though. Who would have thought he was into black magic, he seemed so innocuous."
