Ooc: the male elf was stunned so you had advantage on the attack (check to see if you crit). So sneak attack would apply because of advantage anyway.

The Armored giant leaves Brystel and bounds towards Tyrvan, His steps thud loudly on the air as He rears back with the large maul and strike at tyrvan.

His maul erupts with Electricity as it swings threw the air. Bringing it around for a second strike at Tyrvan.
Attack 25 Damage: 12 Bludgeoning + 5 Lightning
Brystel gets a AoO on the Armored giant as he leaves melee with you.

Just so you guys are aware, These People are Considered Secondary antagonists. They have a base level and were not meant to be fought this early in the campaign. The DM advises caution.
Tyrvan, when you edited the post, did you change the rolls themselves so you had advantage? Just adding to the post doesn't usually give a dice warning, I've been doing that a lot to comment whenever I get a bad roll, so that shouldn't be the problem.
After watching the armored figure swing its electrified maul twice at Tyrvan, Josiah suddenly has a BAD feeling about how this fight will go...

No this is one of the Set up points for the campaign, You were always going to see this group; Thats why Imras,Tyrvan and Brystel saw the trees being knocked down on the Second day. Fighting them is a bad idea at your level.
(The DM is trying to say Run away or surrender cuz you cant win this fight yet. They are all several Levels ahead of you.)
