“I would hate to jump to conclusions about what animated what, or where it came from. All we can do for now is look into the matter and keep our allies informed. For now, we must assume nothing. Prepare for anything. So don’t take my words to mean that you should keep any theories to yourself.”
Roy hustles but not so much as to take his breath. He is calm despite the danger, thriving on it even.
You search around the shelves and look through the books for anything interesting but everything you see is basically journals and records detailing weather cycles, wildlife conservation, crop harvesting and the like. It looks as if the elders have written about a great many things over the last few centuries and all those logs and records have been carefully preserved in this room. As you are about to give up on the search, you notice a glint of metal under one of the rugs that was crumpled up when the shelf had fallen over. Pulling back the rug slightly, you find an iron pull ring mounted to a strong wooden trap door of sorts. Next to the ring is a lock, and pulling slightly on the door tells you that it is obviously engaged.
Outside group: You make your way back inside the town hall and find Farthran dutifully standing guard over the elders, "What did you find out there lads?
The elders are all taken aback when they see you walk in with the pieces of the glass figure. Elder Roceran steps forward lightly to get a closer look. "What is this? You fought this? It was animated?"
Klok:
Passive Perception: You notice Elder Guron's eyes widen a bit and he begins to frown.
Klok uses his walking stick to step forward "The younglings performed admirably! Elders should have seen them. You all would be proud. However, Klok believes this was animated by someone or something. Perhaps an elder knows? Elder Guron perhaps?"
Roy puts the skull dead center of the table. “Perhaps a physic can tell us what this is and we’ll work towards details we know from there. And someone needs to check for disturbed graves or missing persons’ list. I don’t believe it looks like pottery, so it had to come from somewhere.”
Elder Guron looks at the skull on the table, then to Roy and Klok before he opens his mouth to speak, "There are documents, from when the shield outside took form and people were teleported in." He looks to the others for permission to proceed and slowly each elder gives consent. "There were originally 10 individuals of vast power that initiated the spell to create the shield out there, and four of them died in the process. The other six however, they were pulled in here with us. One of them had been very good at making Golems, and delighted in making some out of glass. She did this by heating glass with her magic and shaping it around a freshly decapitated skull."
Otis sets the torso and legs down on the floor with Grahl's help, then steps back for the elders to examine. "Strangely, when we were chasing and fighting it, it moved with as much fluidity as an armored man, possibly better. Now it seems rigid as, well, glass."
Gilllian notices a trap door hidden under the rug, but he is distracted by the conversation in the other room.
He hears mention of, “individuals of vast power ... four of them died ... The other six ... in here with us … making Golems … with her magic …” and immediately looks down at the trap door, taking a quick step back and standing up in the process.
Thinking on his feet, he decides that dealing with Brendan first made more sense, and placed the rug back in order over the trap door. But he didn’t want to be alone in the secret, using his trust of Roy to be a reliable confidant, he sends a message, “Roy, listen carefully: they are hiding something from us, just beneath our feet. First Brendan, but you and I need to speak, in private,” Gillian plans to make a telepathic bond with his and discuss further once he is in the needed proximity.
setting the chess pieces as best he could for now, he walks over to Falken and Brendan, “Falken, let’s carry him over to the others, gently.”
they carry the dormant boy into the council hall for all to bare witness. Perhaps this alone will shed light on the situation, and force more truth to surface.
“Otis is correct. A strange business. I doubt an easy task to accomplish, certainly not in secret. Is there a way to determine if it’s left over from when this… individual arrived to make the Wall? Perhaps the renewal of magic powered up something left dormant all those years ago.”
Roy’s eyes flicker for a moment shortly before Gillian and Falkland appear with Brendan.
Creating a [telepathic bond] with Roy as he enters the hall and makes visual contact, Gillian explains himself, now safely knowing no one else can hear them.
”there is a trap door in the room there. It is locked and hidden, but we need to make a decision about how to handle it: either we call out the council now, or we investigate later, perhaps in private.”
“I have suspicions, perhaps they are too extreme…but The other six … in here with us … with magic… what if this trap door leads to the very place this description just now speaks of?!”
“When the discussion relegated to Brendan is over I will follow your lead… or do you want me to discuss with other, in private?”
“My uncle would council patience. The trapdoor has been locked and will remain locked a little while longer yet. It costs nothing to see if anyone tips their hand.”
"Mhmm seems a golem is what we have here....It appears the golem was after something in that room. Perhaps the council knows what the golem was looking for? If the younglings are to help, they should have all pertinent information no?" Klok says kindly but sternly in urging the council to be transparent
Falken and Gillian set him down gently, and informs them of what had happened. "Gillian and I were in the other room, and found him, he was muttering something to himself about 'Just wanting them back' I touched him and asked him if he was Okay, and my mind was flooded with something, something telling me that he was under the control of something."
Guron ponders everyone's words for a moment before speaking again, "It could be that this thing was reactivated by magic seeping in from the outside world, but from what I understand, these golems did not move on their own, she rode whatever they had for a mind like someone would ride a horse. Perhaps this is something left over from centuries past."
Turning to Grahl he shakes his head, "This wouldn't be possible. The magic holding this place together doesn't allow for that long of a lifespan. They would be long dead by now."
He looks at the other elders oddly, almost as if in question.
Otis thinks about what Falken and Gillian report before speaking, still somewhat thinking out loud,"So Brendan could have been controlled by that glassman. Or he could have been acting for another unknown entity and triggered the glassman into action by whatever he was doing here."
"We can check outside for tracks and ask the priestess, if she saw Brendan with the glassman, but it seems we have several locations that will need a hard looking into if we are to understand, what took over Brendan and where the glassman came from. The records room here, Brendan's house, Brendan's place of work, and the places he spend free time. One of those places should reveal something or someone." Otis continues through with thoughts as his left han holds his right arm up at the elbow so that his right hand can hold his bearded chin, thumb under his chin and index finger over below his lips. He looks between Brendan, the elders, and Falken and Gillian as he speaks.
Otis replies to Grahl,"I think it was a skull. Some how it animated the glass."

As Gillian and Falken enter the room carrying a flesh and blood body, Otis asks, "Who's that?"

Falken says in a huffing voice. "Brendan... He's lost.... His mind..." He says, huffing and puffing between words.

After the elders explain about the 10 individuals of power Grahl asks Could the 6 still be alive? After all these years.
Grahl looks to the glass remains Surely we would of noticed them by now. Perhaps these glass .. golem.. has awoken from the failing shield.
It attacked us when cornered, it could be dangerous to our people if there are more out there.
“Grahl’s right. No one should travel alone until this is sorted out. Now what’s this about Brendan?” Roy gestures towards the limp man.
