WIth the elders discussing the matters at hand Grahl looks to the glass remains.
Such dangerous magic starting to form within the shield. Things would get very dangerous soon. Knowing he cannot stop the others from going to the room with magic items he follows them. Going down last.
They do not know what they are getting themselves into, so eager to play with things far beyond their understanding. Walking down Grahl grips his shield firmly, unsure what the room holds.

Otis hops down onto the steps holding the light high to give as much light as he can. Looking around he looks for any tracks or dust to see if anyone has been moving up and down the stairs recently and how often.
You descend down into a large basement with shelves lining the walls while noticing the floor is covered in dust that has been untouched for a great deal of time. The first thing you notice is that most of the shelves have baskets on them, but the majority of them are empty except for a fine black powder. In a few spots there are scorch marks on the baskets and the walls behind them.
The items you do see on the shelves are covered in dust, and when you look closer, each of them has a small network of small cracks along their surfaces. The items are a javelin, a ring, a wand, a blue bottle and a metal emblem of a shield with a loop at the top and curved lines at the bottom. After looking a bit more, you find a perfectly smooth crystal symbol with a subtle star pattern etched into it fashioned into an amulet of sorts strung on a strong vine-like material.
Klok:
The moment you lay eyes on the amulet, memories begin to bubble up of your grandmother wearing something like this when you were a child.
Gillian walks slowly up to the items, regarding their state of decay. He glances around the group, noting the presence of 6 items and 6 ‘chosen’, he gets goosebumps and considers his dreams…. ‘Always wanting to have access to magic, obsessing over the histories and stories of old, even when his father wanted him to put his mental focus into more practical matters’
he comes up to the ring or is it that the ring calls to him? ‘The ring that binds the finger or the finger that wears the ring?’
”what’s with all the black powder?” *he asks while staring at the ring*

Falken's inner chemist starts to act up when he sees the blue bottle. He walks up to it and lightly blows off the dust. He picks it up carefully with 2 fingers and inspects the bottle.
((I am checking to see if it is filled with anything and if I'm able to discern what it might be, regardless if it is or isn't.))
Klok walks over to the amulet and picks it up. He wonders if his memories serve him right. "If you all don't mind, I will take this amulet....it seems vaguely...." Klok trails off looking at the amulet

While the others look at the relics Otis will search the walls, shelves, and floor for hidden compartments or secret doors. Otis remembers secret doors from other buildings in the village from his youth.
"One important thing from coming down here. No one has been down here in a while. Brenden didn't make it down here and it doesn't appear that the Glassman came from here. So possibly Brendan broke into the records hall to hide from the Glassman. We will need to check the tracks outside and ask the priestess."
"Anyone have a way to tell what the items are meant to do? They are the items recovered after the banished were banished. Considering they were abandoned, they are just as likely to be traps or items of minor convenience, as they are to be destined for us. Six items, six of us, and all."
Falken will raise his hand when Otis asks about figuring out how they work. "Given enough time, I could figure out what and how all these items work, maybe. When you've messed with items as long as I have, you learn to ascertain certain aspects of objects."
“Our instincts are not to protect us, but to help guide us to a future we can all be proud of.” Gillian resists touching the ring for now, after Otis’ suggestion.
Grahl will carefully watch as the others pick their items, and look at the ones remaining. I heard tales of items having demons inside them.
Trying to recall any tales he has heard about items or champions that could of used these items. We must be carefull.
Not keen on taking any of them Grahl waits for the others to pick one and will take whichever one remains. Mostly not for himself but to make sure possibly dangerous items are not left here for others to find.
"I don't know if mind magic is the source of his mutterings and sleep. Could be he experienced a traumatic event he can't handle as a result of being magicked. After all we can hope his wife is safe and sound on their farm, but we won't know until we go check.", Otis will mention.
"Perhaps we should hurry along. I don't know which item to take until Falken has time to check them. Let's bag them and get moving before something else happens to a villager."
Elder Martino ponders Roy's words while examining the black dust and the burn marks on the walls, "I've only been down here a few times, but there were items in all these baskets. From what I understand, they confiscated these items after one of the mages in the village attempted to use one. It was a staff of some kind, left behind by one of the mages that died during the casting of the shield. This fellow found the staff somewhere and attempted to make himself "Ruler of the Shield." When he was rejected, he tried to use the staff to cast a spell and the magic that came out ripped him and the seven villagers nearest him to pieces, almost like it was alive. Most everyone gave up their magic items willingly after that. They were unstable from the beginning of the shield and it looks like they got worse over time, at least the more powerful items. These items did not contain as much magical energy and weren't as affected perhaps?"
Elder Boradur frowns and opens his mouth to speak, but Elder Hedrus speaks up first. "I know what you are going to say Boradur, but if these lads are going to risk their lives for the sake of the commonwealth, they need to have an advantage. Who even knows, the damn things might just crumble to dust before they can even use them!" The tall half-orc sighs and just nods his hesitant agreement.
Otis: You search around and find a basket in the corner that looked empty, but contains a single pearl, two small books, and a silver key with your family crest on it.
Falken: You carefully examine the blue bottle and looking inside you don't see anything liquid or otherwise, and you notice it is stoppered with a cork like substance. The bottle seems to almost vibrate in your hands as you hold it.
Gillian: You study the ring and notice that it has tiny runes carved into the inside of the band, but you can't quite make out what they mean.
A whisper touches your ear then fades away, "This one is for the athletic types lad"
Roy: As you examine the shield emblem you feel as if you have seen the shape before somehow, perhaps in a book Colin has showed you before. You feel a certain pride swell up a bit in your chest looking at it.
Klok reaches over and takes the amulet and stares at it, knowing he has seen the item before. His words stop on his lips as he is compelled to put the amulet around his neck and he does so, adjusting it to admire the star-like pattern engraved on it. Absently he traces the star pattern on the crystal, closing his eyes and speaking to himself in words you don't understand as he falls into a trance like state. As he finishes speaking, his eyes open and begin to glow with blue light as the star pattern on the crystal begins to reorient itself to the star pattern you see every night under the dome of the shield. Klok turns to the rest of you and the joints in his body suddenly begin to glow like stars in the sky, lines crossing from star to star outlining his form in luminous brilliance before they shift around, the outline of his humanoid form changing into the outline of a dragon as the lights begin to pulse over and over. Each of you begin to see the events of the day, fighting the glass man, working to stop Brendan from attacking anyone or hurting himself from every other member of your groups viewpoints, sharing the knowledge and experience of the day. Slowly, Klok stops glowing and falls back against the wall, spent from the release of energy.
Klok:
You hear your grandmothers voice faintly in your head, "Welcome to the Circle of Stars, make us proud."
Roy smiles to himself a moment. Then puts the amulet on a necklace around his neck.
“We’ll have to hope the shield can hold long enough for us to find out what’s happened. If there truly are magically powerful persons still around… I don’t think our skills are up to snuff yet to face an experienced spell crafter like those that made the shield. Not yet, anyway. Let’s be off to Brenden’s farm quickly though.”
*It seems each of the items is somehow meant for one of us, but this one isn’t for me. How strange! As they have a mind of their own as well! Fascinating* he thinks to himself.
gillian feels rejected by the ring but understands. Just like how others judge him and he emotionally doesn’t understand by intellectually does.
Klok decides to explain to the younglings about the amulet "Younglings...and Falken...This amulet was my Grandmother's. I remember her wearing it when I was younger. She was a druid in the times of magic. A Druid of the Stars and now I am one too. This amulet's magic has returned it seems. Time will tell what magical qualities it has and has bestowed upon me. I hope you all find what you have in your hands equally as significant to the one around my neck"
Falken feels the bottle vibrating, thinking that maybe there is some sort of energy built up inside, he will take whatever is corking the bottle and remove it.
As ol' Klok begins to glow Otis starts to move and reach out towards him but the vision of the days events over takes him and he hesitates for fear of the magic. "Woah!"
Otis will move over towards the others with the books, pearl, and the key he found. "A few of the baskets still had some things in them, as well as the black dust. This key has the family crest of my mothers family, so I will choose to carry it for now. "
Otis will put the key away in a pouch. Holding out the books and pearl for the others to see.
"I wonder if they are magical too? Seem pretty mundane to be magical items."

Roy looks at the remaining objects. “Everyone choose wisely. I will abstain for now. Give you each a chance to find something that suits you.”
