"Only as a last resort," very seriously answered Meili. "When you are chewed upon."Whether it was truly serious or not, but she stopped discussing the poison.
"The ceiling in the cave can be 30' high... Even higher. Not sure we would be able to stop the creatures from flying away. But I will try." She left her backpack near the cleft, checked all the weapons, and prepared to slide down the chute.
Mica peers over the edge of the cliff toward the ledge below, then back toward the cleft. “I’m with Ran. Straight through the front door, fast and hard.” He looks at Meili gets ready to slide down the cleft “If we hit them from both sides be careful, we don’t know how many of them are down there. Cornered in the den they will fight hard, they could cut us up if we are separated. If you go down the backdoor, someone should go with you.”
Danica sighs as Ran speaks so plainly and openly about Nanny and the Sewn Sisters, glancing about the jungle in paranoia. "We still don't know how she knew all that shite about us." The sailor reminded the group before listening closely to what Hew and Inete had to say about these "terror-folk".
Considering the opening they found as well as the various plans for entry and attack, Danica offers, "I might not be able to fly, but I can turn into something small and hard to notice, easy to slip in with Meili. Might be able to do a pincer attack. But won't work if the cave's massive. Too much distance just separates us."Nodding to Mica, who spoke of them being cut down if the group did separate. "F***in' miss that damn owl." Now realizing how much they had relied upon Velan's familiar to do their scouting and recon. "But instead of poison, we could always try smokin' em out. Get some plans, light em on fire, drop em down this opening. I can't imagine dinosaur people could fit through that, so they'll have no choice but to come out the front, straight to us if we're waitin' to cut em down ourselves."
Ran gives Danica a thumbs up on the fire idea until he remembers his father tell him about trying something similar to smoke out someone his dad was after.
"But if we have to go into the cave still, we're going to be no better off having to deal with the smoke," Ran says. "You got anything we can put out quickly if we need to?"
He ties off his rope to the tree, pulling hard a few times to make sure the plant isn't rotten and ready to break. Ran then walks to the edge, ready to go over the side.
Grimacing at Ran's point she admits, "That I don't. Least not if it gets to a real fire. Just a torch or a campfire I can snuff easy, even with a bit o' distance. But not if it catches on anything. So the plan is have Meili go down and scout? Or should both of us go down and do pincer attack?"
Ran lowers the rope over the side, keeping it up high enough so someone coming out on the ledge wouldn't run into it yet.
"The two of you go scout, and Mica and I will have ropes ready to go," Ran says. He then gestures at the sky. "If we see something coming we'll swing down into the cavern right away."
He then looks over to Hew and Inete.
"No offense Hew but thinking it's best you rest your heels up here with Inete."

With no objections from Danica, Meili waited for her to get ready, made sure the night-vision mask was sitting tight and began her descending into the cave.
Mica pulls out his own rope and secures it around the tree, preparing to lower himself down to the ledge. Two ropes will allow Ran and he to drop at the same time on either side of the entrance. “We will wait here to hear what you find, but give a shout if you run into trouble and we will be right down.” He looks over at Inete and Hew with a grin “Wish us luck.”
Hewblusters at the thought of being left behind and dislikes sending Meiliinto the cave alone. However, upon hearing Danicawill go in with Meili, and seeing Inetewould be left up here alone, the one-armed dwarf relents and agrees to wait up top.
While Ranand Micawait with their ropes ready near the cliffside, Meiliand Danicaclimb down the chute.
Danica& Meili:
The two women maneuver down the narrow cleft in the rock. It is a tight fit but both are able to emerge carefully and quietly in a larger underground space.
Darkvision allows each of you to see in shades of grey the space inside the Ptera-folk lair.
The chute you emerged from is at the very back of the lair. It deposits you on a small ledge, 5' above a larger chamber, about 15' x 10'.
Directly across from you within this space (15' away), a creature is curled up and sleeping on a large matted pile of grass, sticks, skins and furs. Coiled up as it is, its hard to get a true sense of size, but it looks larger than a person. It is covered in leathery scales and its arms are large wings, like the pteranodons that chased Ninlil on the beach neat Port Nyanzaru. Likewise, its head features a long, beak-like mouth filled with small sharp teeth.
To your right, in the direction of the cave mouth, an even large space opens. At least 25' x 25', this central chamber has a ceiling that rises more than 20'... it must nearly reach the plateau above where your friends await. Inside this space, five more Ptera-folk are gathered around in a circle and making noise. A smaller winged creature is squawking, marching and dancing on the floor of the cave. At first, you might mistake it for a young Ptera-folk, but on closer examination it appears to be a small species of winged Pterasaur, not much larger than a pigeon, apparently trained to entertain. The corners of this room are filled with dirt, bones, fur, feather, and the mostly skeletal remains of at least two adventurers.
Beyond, a tunnel leads to entrance; you can see daylight peeking around the edges of the tarp.
One more tunnel leads out of the 25' x 25' chamber but you cannot see where that leads from your current vantage point.
Micaand Ran:
Meiliand Danicadisappear down the chute. You two settle in to wait for a sign. Hewpaces nervously and occasionally coughs. Inete just looks tired.
The scarlet bird leans out from Ran'sshoulder to peer over the side of the cliff toward the cave mouth, looks at Ran, and then flaps its wings and relocates to a branch in the tree where your ropes are tied.

Meili studied both caves - or what was visible from their vantage point - for a few moments, but then came the inevitable time for unpleasant actions. Meili's facial expression was not visible under the mask but she did waste a couple of long moments looking at the remains of the unfortunate adventurers. Then she turned to Danica, showing with quiet gestures the intention of attacking the sleeping creature. The pantomime was simple: Meili would jump on the creature, pinning it down with the sword and kicking and crashing as much as she could, and as quietly as she could.
If (and only if!) Danica had no objection to the idea and/or did not suggest another way of dealing with the creature in front of them, Meili will attack giving it everything she had, yet trying to keep it quiet.

The twin terrors fall upon the sleeping Pterafolk, slashing, stabbing and punching. It barely has time to struggle before succumbing to the attack. You notice that during the attack, two backpack-sized eggs underneath the creature were smashed. There is not time to think about any of this, however.
