As images of the long-abandoned city enter your semiconscious, trance mind, you are taken back to your youth. Tales abound of a mythical city that was the place of great sorrow for the Eladrin; elves that came from the feyrealm, theorised to be ancestors to the elves of Oerth (but never confirmed). The city served as a bastion against drow incursions, its crystal towers rising through the treetops like polished skeletal fingers emerging from the earth.
Stories tell that this once-radiant city is now cursed; for Cendriane, for that was the city's given name, has known no birdsong, no signs of life, nothing but the pall of silence since that bloody war.
You are certain that the images transmitted to your mind are of Cendriane... but what possible links could there be between that abandoned city and Prospect?
Ermasnietsz - ((Just to clarify, I think you'd be aware that Toska is using the [Tooltip Not Found] to send the message - has a charge of 1/LR.))
You reach out and touch the doorknob. Thankfully, it feels cool as your hand brushes it. Relieved, you press your ear to the door and listen. You hear the gentle drip-drop of water and the general creaking of the house, but otherwise nothing.
"They're not there, y'know,"Asha's dream-like voice rings out. "You did a right job on the basement... going for a scorched-earth strategy, I see." Child-like giggling starts loudly before petering out.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Meresaa, the side of her head pressed to the door, closes her eyes for a moment before lifting her head, turning to Boyd, and slowly opening her eyes once more. Her speech is measured and deliberate.
"I'm an observant individual and, I dare say, quite intelligent, but it feels like we've spent almost a month in this room and I seem to have forgotten my surroundings."
She shakes her head and smiles to herself. "You're quite right and... Surprisingly insightful. I can, in fact, breath comfortably underwater for a period of time."
Returning to the submerged room where they found Esther and the dogtopus, she wades in and retrieves the three glowing cubes she tossed in the day before. Moving back to the northern submerged hallway, she takes a good, long look around. If it's dark, she tosses her luminous trinkets down the hall, one at a time, in a line extending as far out as she can while maintaining a useable level of light.
Nikita starts to move to explore the waterlogged room but sees that Meresaa seems to have it well in hand. She muses about the visions of the strange city. Of course it's a fey city of the Eladrin... now abandoned. I should have known that. But the connection still eludes me.
She covers the tall blue lady with her longbow from the door. Upon her return, she simply states what she knows, well aware that all this is probably more significant to her than the others, so she doesn't dwell too long on it.
"For what it's worth, I know the empty, overgrown city we are seeing in our dreams and visions. At least I assume you all saw it. It is Cendriane, legendary ancient city of the Eladrin, who came from the feywild. But Cendriane was an outpost in this world that we are in right now, Oerth, where Boyd and I are from. Built to defend against drow but abandoned and said to be cursed now. Perhaps attacked by the dark fey queen?"
She takes a breath. "But in truth, I do not know the connection to Prospect and why Asha (or someone at least) continues sending us visions of it."
"Either way, let us choose a direction, through the water or back through the burned area, proceed carefully to meet Toska, and head to the portal."
"So these Eladrin you speak of came to this place from the Feywild and built a city?" Meresaa asks thoughtfully whilst continuing to inspecting the hallway.
"It seems to me that the most practical place to do such a thing would be in a location where the veil between the two planes was thinnest. Perhaps that is the connection with Prospect. It stands to reason there would be more than one such crossing in this realm."
The glowing cubes illuminate the dark walls of the submerged passageway. It seems like it drops down a couple of feet as stone gives way to silt. On the far side of the passageway to the east (right) you spot a door half submerged in the murky water.
((The Map Making tool I use does not have a way of adding water... assume it is as I describe. Doors, as mentioned previously, are marked with red X's.))
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Seeing the silt bottom, Meressa slowly and carefully steps into the water and begins to make her way toward the door at the far end. He'll toss an ignited pouch at each of the torches/sconces as she passes (assuming she makes it that far).
If she makes it to the far end of the hall unmolested, she beckons to the others to join her as she examines the door for anything that may hinder its ability to open (lock, stones or silt in the way underwater, obvious physical traps, etc.).
Investigation: 25 (if anyone helps, here's another roll for advantage: 27)
As they inspect the door Meresaa shrugs and replies offhandedly, "Where did any of this come from? I assume the basement of the manor hasn't always been underwater. I can only surmise it's due to the convergence with the Feywild..."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Nikita nods. "Right. I mean, I was wondering if some other extraplanar creature may have contributed to the silt or burrowed through the floor. Not that the silt is so unusual itself. Regardless, we are being as careful as we can. I was merely thinking aloud."
Nikita casts Shape Water to attempt to move some of the water aside to make sure nothing is lurking within.
She and Thumbtack look for hazards and, if finding none, listen at the door.
Ermasnietsz speaks cautiously with a straight face, but a closer inspection will reveal that she might be just bored. It is not a good sign since she's supposed to be very excited about their new discovery or at least pretend to be interested or co-operative.
"There's an artifact here, inside Prospect, that might be quite powerful as well as ancient. Actually, that thing must have the potential to create a planar rift, whatever happened to Asha Hawkes could be the effect of the item." She is talking to nobody in general, just stating her assumptions with a concealed look of contempt.
"Toska just told me about Spriggans and Boggles who are worshipping some sort of onyx statue of woman. Perhaps, we should split up and investigate the issue."
Nikita uses her shape water spell to part the water in the flooded passage. As the party pass, they feel clumps of thick roots underfoot, the stones that had comprised the floor now split or dislodged. The smell of the stagnant water is putrid and smells of rotting plant matter.
Thumbtack draws the party's attention to shapes moving under the parted water. Dozens of fish with large teeth swim wildly, avoiding the light cast by the sconces and any other light sources in their immediate vicinity. The Sagacitas, who had been following the group until this point, sends a tentacle shooting through the water and grabs one of the fish. In a single motion, it flings the fish into its open maw.
Upon reaching the door, you check for any signs of traps and find nothing. However, there is a keyhole located under the door's handle, which looks pickable. The door itself does not move should you try and open it.
Finally, you are able to tell that the interior of the room is also partially submerged.
Nikita keeps her voice low and continues using Shape Water to keep the spiky-toothed fish well away from the party, trying to use the flow of water to push them to one end and containing them with a block of ice.
"Careful. Water is seeping through the door and may be deeper on the other side. It could come through in a rush, or there might be bigger aquatic creatures when we open it. Boyd, you want to do the honors with the locked door, or does anyone think we go back out the way we came in instead?"
She looks to the full-grown Sagacitas in case it has any idea (perhaps telepathically) of what's on the other side of the door. Are these little fish just young and their parent on the other side? Like you with the little larvae?
If the choice is to unlock the door, Nikita casts Mage Hand to help the grizzled rogue and use a second sheet of ice from Shape Water ((max 2)) to create a thin, vertical ice wall up to the level of the doorknob and lock. And frozen against the outer frame of the door to stay in place and at least block some of the water that may come through, assuming the door opens into the other room and not back towards us.

Boyd expertly picks the, otherwise stubborn, lock. Using the bulk of his weight, he manages to hold the door firmly, ready for the pending rush of water due to Nikita's warnings. Sure enough, water gushes from behind the door, it is a little deeper within the room, yet somehow Boyd and Nikita manage to shepherd most of it to the sides. Slowly but surely, Boyd manages to fully open the door, revealing the room behind.
Racks of weaponry and suits of armour stand in this rather poky little room. It seems like this room served as the armoury for the Cabal; some of the weapons/armour seems to have been spoiled/water damaged, but a great deal of it seems serviceable. A shield emblazoned with a strange symbol (gules, a mullet of four points wavy sable, see below) hangs from one of the walls;
The Sagacitas bounds up to the shield and moves its tentacles to mimic the shape.
ALL - Any wishing to investigate the room, please roll investigation checks. Any Oerth natives can roll a History check (high DC) to recognise the symbol on the shield.

"Hrm... a dead-end, but maybe we can make some use out of this stuff. Any of this fit you?" Boyd asks, looking back over his shoulder at his companions.
Something immediately catches your attention. You are certain that it might otherwise have gone unnoticed, but you are sure that you spot a crudely made charm hanging from one of the armour stands. It is a fist-sized charm made from a bundle of dried plant stems wrapped in silver thread.
You cannot be certain, but you believe this charm has likely been fashioned from plants similar to those you have previously encountered and is likely magical.
((Additional information on account of the crit))
You get the feeling that this charm was made to either ward or perhaps communicate with the alien/fey plantlife. Without the need for identifying, you believe that you are now the new owner of a Charm of Plant Command.
Having come into contact with some of the more nefarious elements of society, you are certain that you have seen the symbol before. In fact, you are pretty certain that you have seen this symbol with increased frequency as of late; particularly around your home of Ensar and Monmurg. In your previous life with a certain organisation, you are pretty sure you heard of a group referred to as the "Scarlet Brotherhood" that used this symbol; the last you heard the group were on the rise, though it seems they may be linked with the Sanguine Cabal.
Boyd pokes around the armor stands, looking for something of quality. Hanging from a ruined hauberk and tucked into a fold of the gambeson is a clump of dried plant stems on a silver chain. The middle-aged man carefully plucks it out and squints at it. "Oi, this looks like the plants what are growing down here in the hallways. Who would make such a thing...? Kind of ugly... Must have some sort of purpose, eh? Gotta be for keeping 'em away or maybe talkin' to 'em like what those forest clerics do, right?"
Faila, slogging as nimbly, quietly, and dryly as she can through the icebergs in the held-back waters, stops in surprise when the party enters the room. From an elemental survival trek---like her days in the jungle, fleeing as far and fast as she could---to a rusty bastion of order and civilization, of forged metal and recognizable herald standing against the chaos. Half of her feels relieved, and the other half feels even more like an animal in a trap as she doesn't see a way out of this room to keep running, keep traveling. The Sagacitas imitating the figure on the shield lends a sudden and unearthly feel to the whole scene. Nervously, Faila helps the others to look.
