“Sergei brilliant! Where there is mystery and treasure, there too be glory!” (Whisper screaming: that unique tamber of both whispering but whispering loudly)
he draws his daggers and fights the air slish slash… “let’s go show um who’s really in charge around here!” (Mighty looks towards the runt just to check they are in the same page, the continues: “you know, everyone always regrets what they didn’t do! “
Sergei, ever enthused by Mighty's spirit, bumps his fist on the table in affirmation, though a slightly confused grin spreads over his face as he's not totally sure what the kobold is suggesting.
“Sergei! Runt! Let’s wager some of the loot in this fortress on kills! We keep track of kill shots and third player owes first player 10gp… 5gp if you guys are…. Chicken?” Mighty is mighty excited to have fun with his new Allies.
“when you guys got the info lemme know! I’m gonna go disappear for a while, look around”. (Mighty puts up his hood and ducks under the table, sizing people up around the tavern based on ankle knee and booty conditions, ( “2 shot kill… 1 shot… too drunk… too weak… keep a distance, etc” )
Sergei grins and pats his coin-pouch. "Your on Migh... er" Sergei accepts the challenge as Mighty slips away, examining the occupants of the tavern with ominous rumblings. Satisfied, if mystified, he returns to his conversation with the barkeep.
He watched the kobold walk away with a concerned expression on his face. He turned a bit to the side and called out, "Are you sure you should go out there alone?"
The bartender chuckles at the groups antics. "Ah the old ruined citadel in the canyon yonder. Follow the old road and ye should find it." He sets down his glass and leans in towards the group. "Last time someone was asking about that was a pair of of siblings from here. They went in with a few of their friends about a month past. Haven't heard a thing about them since." He motions towards the human couple in the corner. "That there is the Hucrele's, their parents. Said to be a reward for bringing back their signet rings."
Sergei's happy grin inverts as the implication hits him like a metaphorical brick. "I am... very sorry to hear of that. Is there - I mean, did they have supplies for so long a stay? Surely there is still hope that they might walk back, rings and all?"
Might appears behind the barkeep shoulder “oh yah, they’re dead. Just dead. Dead as a door nob. Or worse really, could be disemboweled, or tortured slowly.” He gives off the air of ‘I have a solution’, “tell you what…. This is when you send in the cavalry (points to his own chest), solve the mystery, kill the bad guys, and take home the coin,”
he steps forward, “and if you’re lucky, the town makes it a yearly festival, and convince us to come back to visit and grace you by joining for the feast mightiest feast of the year!. “
mighty grabs someone else’s ale, he doesn’t notice whose, “to victory! And profit!” And he pours half the ale out on the table for good luck.
The bartender jumps at the appearance of mighty. "Aye, we figure they are gone. Should they still live, I am sure the reward would increase. It isnt often people venture into the ruins. Other than the twins, only person I can recall going there was a strange man named Bellak. Him and his giant toad went towards it and disappeared. The old road used to be a known goblin ambush spot but is has been years since they attacked us. Not that much traffic goes through that way these days."
"Criminy, gobs too!? I wonder what they're guardin'. By th' by, if we're gon' return those boys to their family, we'd best know what we're lookin' for."
Agnes approaches the Hucreles to introduce herself and the group, and to get a description of the boys and their signet rings."'n what was they searchin' for in th' ruins?"she asks them.
Quaffing his drink with a ready grin, Sergei signals his readiness (assuming that other conditions are right for our excursion! Time of day, necessary supplies, perhaps contact with the grieving parents for more information?)
(Yes, we should contact the parents. Might give us tips on what they might've done in those caves. I'm sure we also have everything we need, but we should wait till morning.)
Agnes talks to the Hucreles and finds out that their missing kids are Taglen Hucrele, a young dark haired man dressed in armor, and Sharwyn Hucrele, a young woman wearing simple tan clothes with a spellbook. They weren't planning on being gone this long but did have solid provisions. They went with a knight from Neverwinter named Sir Bradford and a man of the wilds named Karakas. Sir Bradford had bragged about his magical sword, Shatterspike while he was in town.
As you finish your drinks and conversations, the sun has begun to set. Garon, the barkeep, offers you a set of rooms for the night. As he does so, he mentions that recently there have been stories of people and cattle going out alone at night and being found dead the next day covered in dozens of needle-like wounds. No one has an idea what might be causing this but the days have been safe.
"Sir Bradford, eh? 'N a magic sword, too! Sounds like your kids 'ave an eye fer adventure." Agnes props her staff against the corner wall and sits with the Hurcreles for a bit, talking to them about their kids and their lives. At some point, a black cat slinks into the tavern and settles near Agnes's feet.
As night settles in, Agnes lingers with the others for a while, listening to the report of deaths with concern. "I dun' need a room. I'll be stayin' with my aunts in town. Aunt Malva 'specially's in a bad way. But these death's serious business. Dun' ya think we should check it out? As long as we're gon' be helping the Hurcreles we can help th' rest of th' town, too."

“Ay, if you need ‘em tracked down, or items reclaimed we can do that.” He nods at Sergei and the crew, knowing the importance of family.
He'd shrug and turn back to the others with a sigh, before giving a thumbs up to Sharzin.

He listens to the barkeep and humms..... "So, the goblins base or home, whatever you like to call it is definitely around the ruins...."

“Where there’s a mighty reward, there’s a reason for mighty to report for service!”
“ready when you guys are!” Mighty want to kill something…
How is that kobold hopping around everywhere? Nevermind. Yeah chugs his cup of cider and retains a belch. "I'm set."
