Ro approaches the chest, "If' I'm correct then the chest is free of traps. If anyone has thieves' tools we could attempt to pick the lock, or we could attempt to force it open."
(If anyone wants to make a strength check to forcefully open the chest, Ro will assist to give advantage on the roll.)
Rum heads back to the other's with the bag, showing the contents.
"Looks like we have some armour, not as big as the one we found downstairs though, a bag of dust, a nice looking arrow and a wicked looking crossbow bolt", he says showing each item in turn.
"Any use to anyone, or shall we just sell them when we get chance".
He watches as they look at the chest. "If no-one can unlock it, maybe Greko can do what he did before?"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Oten steps forward as the compartment in his arm sllides open, and he pulls out a pair of small implements. "Allow me to try to get through this lock."He inserts one of the tools into the lock and gestures Ro over. "Please hold the tension wrench right here, with just a little bit of pressure." He the gets to work with the other tool.
Oten looks at the key, and then at the door. Then back at the key. "I think we have found our way through that door," he says, reaching in to grab the conspicuous key.
“I guess this would be most useful to you”, Rum says handing Lelith the arrow.
“Can you put the rest of these things in your magic bag, friend Ro?”, he asks of the false knight.
He starts to walk towards the door when Oten announces we have a way to open it.
”I am ready to see what is through the door. We may want to do this quietly, maybe once we check for traps, Lelith and I can slip through and scout a little?”, he suggests to the group.
Ro accepts the items from Rum and places them into his bag of holding. "Scouting into the room sounds like a good idea. Before you and Lelith go on, let me quickly get a read on the magic I'm sensing on the other side of the door."
Ro accepts the items from Rum and places them into his bag of holding. "Scouting into the room sounds like a good idea. Before you and Lelith go on, let me quickly get a read on the magic I'm sensing on the other side of the door. Don't want you guys walking into another explosion."
Oten looks over to Rum, still holding the key up, and notices the half plate he had pointed out. "Ahhh, now THAT looks more suitable for my frame, though I'm afraid I will need some time to incorporate it as a part of my frame. Time which I doubt we have at the moment. But if you would please grab that for me for later."
He stands up and walks over to the door and begins speaking quietly. Rather than a whisper, however, it sounds like his normal voice simply with less volume. "Okay, so our action plan is as follows:
1. Ro sweeps for magic.
2. Someone checks the door for mechanical traps while I inspect the lock.
3. I open the door.
4. Lelith and Rum scout the interior while we stand by to provide emergency back up.
Ro nods as Oten lays out the plan, "Good plan. Phase one is already complete. There's a lot of magic present beyond this door. I gather there are two dangerous runes: one is explosive like the others we've encounter, the other is similar in construction but slightly different. I can't really tell what effect the second rune will have but be wary of it. Both runes seem to be towards the back of the room. I can also sense the presence of several magic items. They're magic aura is a bit dimmer than the rest, so I gather it's locked in a container of some kind."
The elf-dwarf pauses a moment with a perplexed face, "There's another magic source in there. It's strange to say the least; I can't seem to identify it. If we enter this room, we best be prepared to fight."
Ro steps to the warforge's side, "Moving into phase two, I'll check the door for traps."
Rum stands to the side whilst Ro and Oten do the preparatory work to open the door safely.
”The plan is a good one, we will do our best to move safely and not trigger more traps, right Lelith?”, he says with a firm bid followed by a little grin.
Magnifying lenses flick over Otens eyes as he examines the lock in particular to make sure that using the key will have the intended effect and no other
Concluding his inspection he places the key in the lock, looks back to Lelith and Rum, gives them a silent nod, and then turns the key and pulls open the door just enough for them to get through.
Rum listens carefully and then pops his head through the door first, inspecting the room on the other side, including the floor and ceiling directly on the other side. He has seen enough of the strange circles with arcane symbols to know that they mean trouble.
If all looks clear, he slips through as quickly and quietly as possibly into the room beyond.
The thing sees Rum as soon as he enters the room and charges forward with no other sound than its hooved feet hitting the floor. It begins to swing the halberd two handed and in wide arcs so that the back end of it came down on the Tabaxi, who was now having to dodge both the bladed end and the back end of the weapon. None of the attacks hit Rum, and the thing made sure to keep a good 10 feet of distance from him.

The lock pops open quickly as Oten works on it.
Inside the chest is a rather large skeleton key with two ruby eyes glaring up at them...
