Rum surveys the table, “Looks like it has been some kind of altar at some point”.
He then wanders over to the webbed hole. “Will have to clear this webbing to see what’s down here, although someone should probably check out the chest there first. Possibly best not to step in the water”.

Ro walks over to the north-east corner of the room and kneels to inspect the water. "The water is putrid, but other than that it should be safe to tread."
The elf-dwarf walks through the river carefully, in part out of caution and in part not to soil his own clothes too much. Once he makes it the chest, he gives it a quick lookover before turning back to the band, "It's lodged into the roots pretty well, we could try to pry it out."
(Ro will help anyone how would like to pry the chest out).
Rum heads over from the hole to stand with Ro, taking a short run up and trying to jump over the stream.
"I can try", he says looking at the roots a little warily, not really wanting to hurt the tree by breaking them. Maybe he could pry them off without damaging them.
He takes his quarterstaff from his back and places it through a gap between the chest and the largest of the roots. "Together now", he says to Ro and anyone else who comes over to help, then pushes on the staff, trying to lever the roots off the chest.
Strength: (8, 5) + 1 = 9
"Seems to be wedged too tight", he says not budging the roots. He looks around for someone stronger, "Oten, you are likely a lot stronger than I am, fancy a try if we help?".
Greko shakes his head at the younglings. “No, No, No. dear Rum and Ro. You must put your back into it. None of this only using the knees.” Greko places his bag on the ground and shows Rum and Ro. Greko casts guidance on Rum
Rum bows his head to Greko, "My thanks friend Greko, your instruction is as ever, enlightening".
He grips the staff once again, getting more leverage this time. "Three , two one..", he counts down and then, as Greko suggested, puts his back into it.
Rum frowns, "Plundered by the Lord of Darkness no doubt".
He stands close to Oten, keeping an eye on what is inside, unsure why it would have been opened and then stuck within the roots like that if not for some sinister purpose.
”Any clues as to what was in there? Or secret compartments that weren’t discovered? You never know, friend Oten”, he says hopefully.
”I think it is time we cleared this webbing as well”, he says wandering over to the webbed up hole. He looks around at the others to make sure they were paying attention, and then strikes the webbing with the palm of his hand, channeling the energy of a red dragon and causing flames to erupt where he strikes. He makes sure to back away fast so as not to be caught in any fire that takes hold in the webbing.
"Hm, sounds like a lot of them spider critters down there", Rum announces as he listens intently at the top of the hole.
"I guess we aren't done here until we get rid of them, if they are what is causing the Deku Tree to suffer. Question is, do we draw them up, or head down to meet them?"
"Looks like 100 feet down, and these vines should make it ok to climb".
Greko takes a peek "Hmm Greko would prefer to draw them up, yes...I can make the journey down 100 feet but it would be somewhat tiring....Although I suppose I could shift into a spider myself...."
"You can turn into spider?", Rum says shocked. "Would like to see this, friend Greko. but I can go down and try and persuade them to follow back up".
He looks around the at the other holes. "If we could block other holes, can force them all this way", he suggests.
"Back soon", he says, and with that starts to climb down the hole, being as quiet and unobtrusive as he can, whilst keeping an ear out for anything coming his way.
Stealth: 4+7=11 Perception: 15+7=22 Movement: Uses climb speed of 40ft to get down hole quietly, stopping when he hears something getting closer to his position. If anything comes at him he will retreat.
After a short time, Rum hears a whisper as if Ro is standing right next to him, asking for an update.
"It is incredibly dark down here, friend Ro, and the stench of decay is far worse. There are a lot of spider creatures down here, I can hear them below me in what seems to be a large cavern. Trying to get a better look...", he whispers in reply.
