"Oh, of course." One of the charmed smiths says as he picks his tools back up and heads toward the structure they've labeled as the Crucible. He begins to move toward the center of the foundry.
The fourth smith, watching the third as he operates what is now known to be the Blast Bellows, glances at Rum and Lady Kaede and grunts.
"You know you're not supposed to be up here, you two." He says flatly, but doesn't really do anything to aggress them. "It's dangerous and you could get in the way. Go on then, you can come back in a few minutes when we're done with this..."
His words are cut short. The only thing currently louder than the Blast Bellows and its firing operation is the sound of Hyboria herself being torn open. There's an explosion of blue fire over the Subhylian Sea. Flames radiate across the ceiling of Subternia in all directions, and then something huge...and alive...falls through the crust of the world and toward the ocean, followed by a gush of water pouring in from above...
As this happens, a fire elemental appears at the crucible...and the crucible breaks open, spurting fire...
For those that can see the fire elemental and inside the tent
The fire elemental reaches in and pulls out the forge placing it on the ground at its feet. Suddenly Greko appears bonking the forge with his staff and shrinking down to a hardly visible size. He quickly grabs it and plops it into his pocket. He tells the fire elemental to help protect his friends and allow him to get away. Greko then disappears.
Jek snaps out of his funk, finally realizing what's going on.
"Oh no! The Apex Predator is here! He l it must be going after the other Tarrasque! We need to leave! Greko has the bellows, right?" Jek takes a deep breath and says a quick prayer. "Bright Lady, we follow the path you lay before us. May we all continue on this journey with you Blessing. All right, let's get out here? Greko? Where'd you go?"
Rum has learnt to expect the unexpected on this journey he has been undertaking since leaving the Ivory Tower. So although he is a little shocked by the appearance of what he now knows is the Apex Predator coming into view through the East door to the forge, falling from the ceiling of the great cavern, he doesn't miss a beat. He swings back to the smiths about to suggest that they better run, only to get a face full of Fire Elemental.
Quickly putting two and two together, and figuring if Greko can summon Earth Elementals he can summon Fire ones as well, he resists the urge to instantly attack it. His supposition is proved correct when he spots Greko appear briefly next to the crucible, shrinking what he hopes is the Blast Bellows and disappearing. The thought quickly enters his mind that the Blast Bellows might be a tad hot, but it didn't seem to bother Greko thankfully.
Turning to the smiths he points out the door trying to hold their attention on the Apex Predator, "You had best join the defence force and protect Titan Forge, before that thing flattens everything in this cavern!".
He then turns to Jek and the others and whispers, "We won't get a better distraction than this, let's go".
"Yes! You all should definitely do what this guy just said! You need to save yourselves so that you can help to protect the base!"
Persuasion: 28 (NAT 20!!!)
As soon as the men leave (which I'm pretty certain they will...), Violet is ready to get out ASAP.
"I don't think think there's time to tie me up... maybe we can do that later," she says, then remembers that the troopers are preoccupied. "Wait... I guess we probably don't need to do that since there's a monster attacking the compound that will take all their attention... anyway, let's get out of here before said monster flattens us!"
Lady Kaede isn't used to subterfuge, and is rightly confused with the actions everyone has been taking, but when Rum and Violet both whisper that it's time to vamoose, quickly, she doesn't spare a second to think it over. Rather, she wheels around on her heels, and pushes everyone out through the door they came in through, using her body to protect the others from any flying bits of flame.
The extreme blast of fire inside the Crucible is brought to an end in what is little more than a whimper as the Fire Elemental breaks the machine free. Greko, his old wrinkled body somehow resistant to being jerky-fied by the heat of the Bellows, is able to shrink it down before stepping out where the rest of his team is.
There is a roar near the underground ocean as the Apex Predator lands in the dark water and then rights itself, heading toward the shallows where the band had previously seen the hibernating Tarrasque. The Stormtroopers and their allies are already screaming and shouting and carrying on as Godzilla's dorsal fins crackle along the length of its back with blue energy, and then, before the Tarrasque even has time to wake up and realize what is happening, the King of the Monsters has it. He shoves it along the sea bed, this time creating the previously anticipated tidal wave and sending water cascading toward the barracks area.
Water continues to pour in from the wound in the ceiling as the Tarrasque begins to scream.
"Oh!" The fourth smith says, his hands coming up to rest along the sides of his head as he watches in disbelief. "Oh! OH! The General! The Lord! Oh! We have to get them out! Oh! The weapons! Gather the weapons! Send for a cart!"
He scampers off with one of the other smiths behind him as they head toward the barracks area.
There is a second of peace as Greko steps out of and away from the Crucible...and then hot magma begins to bubble up from the hole in the floor where the Blast Bellows had been moments before.
"Wait", Rum says with some urgency as Lady Kaede is ushering them out. "They have been making powerful weapons here".
He turns to one of the smiths, "Where are your most powerful weapons? We can wield them". As he asks, his eyes scan the water in the distance and then the direction the other smith went, finally resting on the chests in the room.
At the same time, he sends Violet another telepathic prompt, "Who is their Lord?".
Jek is looking about and does a double take. "What? No. But... She's the only one I've ever seen. Maybe? But Why? Ummmm......" Jek fumbles about his neck to get the AURYN out from beneath the stormtrooper armor. He looks at if for a moment, then snaps back into focus. "I hope this amulet still works!"
Jek, hearing what Rum says to them and catching his intention focuses on the smiths as well. "Get the fastest transports loaded with as many of the best weapons as you can, we will get them out of here! Anyone who can wield these weapons should take them up! We are in a fight for our lives! Let's go people! Move Move Move!" Jek calls out to the smiths and the others, trying to sound like he's in a position of authority. (Persuasion 21).
As the chaos around Greko ensues and his fingers hurt afrom picking up the tiny forge. He places on of his fingers in his mouth and shakes the others to cool down. He giggles to himself and changes into a . He begins to run away at a cool 35MPH leaving his fire elemental behind to help his friends. He begins to remember his young days when he would run and frolic in the woods with other animals and fae creatures alike. He runs past Rum and the others and snaps back to the reality of the situation. He stops at the rocks where they first gathered, hides, and waits
“Friend Jek, are you seeing what I am seeing?”, Rum asks as he hears Jek muttering under his breath and notices him pulling out his Auryn, just at the moment he spots a figure falling into the Cavern over the Subhylian Sea.
Kaede bumps into Jek, Rum, and Violet as she's ushering them all out of the room when they all suddenly hit the brakes when they hear the smith talking about the special weapons. She calmly whispers to the group (so no enemy can hear her) "We've no time to spare...this place is about to get attacked. We've got what we came here for....a warrior is not concerned with victory or defeat, only with fulfilling his duty. Let's move."
After more confusion, she mumbles "...who the heck is Stasolya?"
Jek looks to Rum. He will say quietly, try to make sure the Smith's can't overhear. "I mean, it's a Centaur. And I don't know many Centaurs. It would be a weird coincidence if another Centaur just happened to fall into this chamber with Godzilla. More likely, it's the will of the will of the Bright Lady having our paths converge."
To Kaede, he will say. "She is with Andromeda's Answer. I believe she was their AUYRN bearer. I just sent a message to see if that was her. As for the weapons, I mean, they could be useful for the Dwarves. However, I'm more interested in if they can get us fast transportation. We need to move quickly, and they might have the means of that."
"Lord?" The smith says, looking at Violet in disbelief. "Ah, you're an outsider. Lord Vader, of course."
He looks up at the pan along the ceiling, starts to say something, then decides against it. He points instead to one of the racks on the walls.
"We have some good handheld weapons there but..." He continues, shifting his pointing from the weapon rack. Then he looks at the chest nearby. "But in there...that's where we keep it. We reformed it, when it was found. They say..."
The world rumbles as the rampaging titans scream. A glance reveals that the Tarrasque is at Godzilla's throat as the two grapple and spin about.
Stormtroopers near the fortress scatter as they scramble to decide what to do.
The other three smiths are already moving, heading back to the forward barracks on the side the Ardent Remnants approached from to gather transportation. In all the confusion, no one seems to pay attention to the gazelle as it bolts, rushing through the throngs of staring Stormtroopers and their array of weaponry.
The shaking of the cavern intensifies as the monsters fight. Magma is belched up from the hole in the floor beneath the crucible.
Waves continue to lap from the Apex Predator's fall into the Subhylian Sea, and the water falling in through the hole in the world. A small boat falls through the opening as the Centaur is washed toward shore...
Lady Kaede rushes over to the chest that the smith pointed out, and without a second thought, opens it up to retrieve whatever weapon the smith was referring to.
Rum's head snaps around to regard the smith closely at mention of Vader. He had been afraid that was going to be the answer. First the Gmork returned, now potentially Vader.
"Va...Lord Vader is here, at Titan Forge? He is alive? I have been in the wilderness for some time, I thought he had...", he asks leaving his statement unfinished.
So much is going on, trying to keep track of it all is a lot, but he tries to keep an eye on the deer form of Greko to make sure it doesn't get accosted, whilst still wanting to make sure he didn't lose track of the centaur. And he had to admit, he was curious about the weapon in the chest Lady Kaede was about to open.
In the chaos of the scene, you happen to notice Lady Kaede open the trunk, pull out a glimmering handsome sword, and stash it underneath her cloak. She quickly shuts the chest, turns on her heel, and sprints back to the group. “Right, then, shall we depart before all nine hells break loose?”
"Well I don't know if he's here or at the Fist or the Dark Tower even. We're never privy to that information." The smith says, shaking his head and taking on a more scolding tone. "How do you not know this already? You know how this works!"
He pauses, leaning conspiratorially close to Rum.
"But the rumor was that he was here, yes."
A cart trundles up the path the Ardent Remnants had taken to gain access to the Titan Forge...
The cavern continues to rumble as the monsters fight turns toward the west and the Centaur scrambles up the shore...
Rum listens to the rumours intently, "As I mentioned, I have been hunting dissidents in the wilderness for some time", he replies. Noticing Lady Kaede check the chest and conceal the sword, he looks to the other chests around.
"We should ensure the other items of value are not lost", he says and moves to one of the other chests that look like it might hold something important.
He turns back to Lady Kaede when she says they should depart, "I need to check if the centaur is who I think it is. I can meet you later".
