"Thank you for the information, would anyone else in the bar right now be someone good to talk to about those Red Ruffians? And could you recomend anyone else to speak to about this bunch?
"Of course," Toblen replies. "It's my pleasure. I certainly love this village and would like to see it freed from the tyranny of the Redbrands. As for the others in here this evening," Toblen looks around the bar briefly, "I think you'd find interesting information from most of these folks. You already met Elsa, our barmaid; she's a bit of a gossip but has a good pulse on news around town. Narth, over there, is an old farmer; Lanar (motions in a different direction), is a miner and often gets out of town into the hills; and Freda, who's over there working on her needlepoint sipping a cider, is a local weaver." As he finishes, a young boy comes running into the common room, trundling down the stairs in a rambunctious fashion as he jogs over to his parents. "And this is our boy, Pip. Say hello these fine folk, Pip."
"Good - good - good evening," Pip says with a slight stutter. Tugging at his mother's robes, "Mo-mo-mother, I heard the craziest of stories! Quelline Alderleaf's son, Carp, well, he - he -he said he found a secret tunnel in the woods, but the Redbrands almost caught him!"
"Now, Pip," Trilena admonishes, "what have I told you about lying!"
"It's true! Or, at least that's what Carp said," Pip says sheepishly.
"Well, if it be true, then I best not catch you anywhere near that tunnel, Pip!" Toblen warns. "Why don't you run back on upstairs and get ready for bed."
"Yes, father." Pip scurries back across the common room, bounding up the stairs, trying to take two at a time and failing miserably.
Turning back to the group, Toblen says, "You'll have to excuse Pip. He's a boundless source of energy and doesn't mean to be impolite. We're working on his manners. He's a great kid, though." Toblen beams slightly with pride.
"Well, we should leave you to your meals and drink. Please don't hesitate to let us know if there is anything we can do to make your stay more enjoyable and comfortable." Toblen stands, pushes in the chair to the table, and he and Trilena return to their duties and the other patrons.
"I believe we need to talk to everyone in here to get some more information about the town, tunnel and that castle. Once we finish our meal I'll make the round and briefly speak to these folks. Would anyone like to accompany me?
OldMan turns to Sildar, "Apologies on the mispronunciation of your name. To be honest my name is often misspoken also. Most think it is pronounced old man but actually it is pronounce oldmun without a pause and without the aaa sound of a sheep. But I digress. I would be very interested in helping you investigate Iarno Albrek's disappearance. As a fellow wizard I feel drawn to help another scholar. Could I accompany you tomorrow in your search for answers?"
Turning to Regula and Thallen. "Men I think you should visit the lady Linene Graywind, at the Lionshield Coaster. Return her gear we took from the Goblins and perhaps get more info on the happenings here."
To all. "Men there are many things going on here in Phandalin. Although I think much of the bad things occurring are connected somehow, I do not believe we can take all of it on in two days. We need to decide our course of action. Do we want to help the towns people get rid of these Redbrand Ruffians? Do we go looking for Albrek or Gundren's brothers out in the woods? Pip's insight in a tunnel tells me that might be an interesting venture. But also do we need to find out who the Black Spider is and where Grundren is? We may be his only hope of saving."
"I agree with Galben that there is probably more information to be gleaned from the crowd her tonight."
(Galben take his attention away from Elsa for a moment turning to Oldman)
"Maybe it would be best for all of us to return the supplies to Lionshield Coaster, then we could sell our excess weapons and people could use their coin to purchase anything that they would like. Then we can decide what direction we shall follow with the rest of the information we get tonight."
Oldman leans over to whisper to Galben. "I thought maybe Bearkiller, Jake and you could check out the tunnel Pip was talking about while I go with Sildar and the muscle go deal with the arms dealer. They have much more experience buying and selling arms. If we split up we can cover more of this town and find out who our real enemies are."
Responding to OldMan, Regula says, "I think that sounds like a good plan. Perhaps we split up tomorrow and scope out the town to gather more information and get a better sense of the machinations at play. We can plan to meet back here tomorrow evening and reformulate our plan if need be. I am certain Thallan and I can fetch a good bargain for our captured weapons."
@Jake, you do not detect any magic afoot at the inn.
Sildar turns to OldMan, "It'd be a pleasure to have you accompany me tomorrow. I plan to ask around on the whereabout of Iarno and see if I can pick up any leads."
Elsa finishes pouring a drink, and seeing Galben flag her down, she hurries over to the table, "Can I get you anything? Another mug of ale perhaps?"
"No more for me thanks but Elsa, I'm told that you know many of the happenings around town. Tell me, what has been happening here recently, please spare no detail"
Elsa looks a bit perplexed by the fact that otherwise able-bodied adventurers such as yourselves wouldn't want more ale, but she appears to consider your question a bit, sizing Galben up before she launches into her response, speaking very quickly and pseudo-conspiratorially. "Well, this town has certainly seemed to go to hell in a hand basket recently. No one seems to know up from down or left from right. Disappearances, street brawls, the Redbrands terrorizing poor folk. Just absolute tosh, if you ask me! Of course, you heard young Pip's story I imagine. Cute kid but boy does he have energy to spare. A mile a minute, that one! Anyway, where was I? Oh, right. Well, you know, just the other day, I run into Daran Edermath, the orchard keeper? Wouldn't you know it but he's an old adventurer like you's all. Mighty fine specimen of man back in the day, if I do say so myself. O' course, not too bad on the eyes nowadays either. (she winks at OldMan) Anyway, he was telling me about someone digging around up in the hills at some old ruins. I'm sure there's more to the story but I only caught him in passing. You know, come to think of it, I think Daran was part of some Order back in the day; might still be, though I honestly wouldn't know. I know he tries to keep an eye out on the goings on around town; you might go over and ask him. I'm sure he'd share a story or two. (let's out a long sigh) There's only so much us folk can do about our current predicament. Oh well, I guess time gets the better of us all. (She adjusts her bodice slightly as she straightens her back from the slouching position she ended up in while spinning her gossip.) Yous sure I can't get you anything else?"
"Good evening sir, we were wondering if we could sit and chat with you for a few minutes about the happenings of the town and the areas around it, my friend Sildar over there will be happy to buy you a drink for your troubles (Galben looks at Regula with a smile)."
Regula raises an eyebrow at Galben's comment and then proceeds, "It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance, kind stranger. My name is Regula, of the House of Argent, this is Gablen and OldMan (pronouncing it correctly)"
(Looking at both of them)
"Thank you for the information, would anyone else in the bar right now be someone good to talk to about those Red Ruffians? And could you recomend anyone else to speak to about this bunch?
(Galben continues to eat his meal)
(Galben pulling his mug down from taking a drink)
"I believe we need to talk to everyone in here to get some more information about the town, tunnel and that castle. Once we finish our meal I'll make the round and briefly speak to these folks. Would anyone like to accompany me?
Jake has sat, just soaking in the ambiance. I'd like to cast detect magic, on the sly. What do I see?
(Galben finishes his meal and drink and motions to Elsa to come over)
"Elsa, I'm told that you know many of the happenings around town. Tell me, what has been happening here recently, please spare no detail"

"That sounds like a plan."
(Galben looking at Jake and Bearkiller)
"We'll have time to go to lion shield coaster before we leave. We'll make our way around town tomorrow. What say you Jake?)
(Galben looks back at Elsa)
"I would be happy to explore tomorrow. It can't hurt to go take a look. I'm looking forward to stopping at Lionshield to browse their wares."
Responding to OldMan, Regula says, "I think that sounds like a good plan. "Thank you for the information. You know I will have another ale, thank you."
Regula finishes his meal and ale and stands. "Well, Galben, should we inquire after the others in here this evening? See what we can glean?"
OldMan pushes out his chair to get up. "Sildar, I will meet you here in the common room in the morn to go in search of answers."
"I think I am going to start with the Miner over there, Lanar I think his name was."
OldMan takes his mug and saunters over to Lanar. "Can I join you for a drink and some tales?"
"Let's go talk to Lanar, Regula"
(They both walk over to Lanar's table)
"Good evening sir, we were wondering if we could sit and chat with you for a few minutes about the happenings of the town and the areas around it, my friend Sildar over there will be happy to buy you a drink for your troubles (Galben looks at Regula with a smile)."
