OldMan smiles at the group. "Let us not forget our good friend who is captured and hopefully still alive awaiting rescue. Maybe killing orcs would help us toward that goal?"
"I believe your friend should be freed sooner than later. The ability to rely on your friends is paramount in this world. However, I agree those orcs should see their end if it could also aid in your friends rescue. 'Two birds..' as they say."
As the party begins to break apart for the night and head to their separate quarters, those that remain at the table absentmindedly engage is small talk as the night wears on and fatigue starts to set in. Around the 11th hour, a young lad no more than fifteen, finely appointed but clearly a servant, bursts through the door, spilling the cool air beyond into the warm fire-lit room of the tavern and inn. Frantically looking around, he spots your table and rushes quickly toward the group. Bowing slightly, he addresses Regula.
"My lord, Regula," the boy sputters. "I'm so glad I found you. I heard tell of your return to Neverwinter earlier this evening and I was dispatched immediately to retrieve you and your brother. Your father requires your immediate assistance with a matter of grave importance to the family. The banner-men have been called and are assembling as we speak."
With a tired look of resignation, Regula stands. "Well, my friends. What seemed an auspicious day has taken an unexpected turn, and I must take leave of you to discern the machinations behind this beckoning."
Looking around at the group, Regula's eyes pause on Bearkiller. Giving a slight nod, "Brother, shall we?"
The remaining group member's eyes dart toward Bearkiller, who slowly stands. OldMan chuckles and while intending to it to be muttered under his breath, rather loudly blurts, "Aha! I knew it."
"But you cannot be brothers of blood, a goliath and aasimar?" Jake inquires
Bearkiller moves around the table toward his brother, addressing the group as he walks. "Quite right, Master Jake. My friends, I am truly sorry for the deception and for the circumstances under which this revelation has come to light. While my brother proudly bears the coat of arms of our adoptive father, I chose to find my own way in the world and cast my own identity. But, as the fourth son of an earl, even an adopted one, fourth sons can turn nothing down, so I must accompany my brother to our father's side."
Regula speaks again, "Come brother; let us take our leave." Turning back to the group, "We will return or send word in the morning. It has been a genuine honor fighting alongside you these past several days."
The two brothers, bearing one another in bond rather than blood, turn and head into the waning moonlight beyond the tavern, pulling their cloaks up over their heads as the brisk evening air catches their cheeks.
After some further discussion on the turn of events, the party makes their way to their respective rooms.
The following morning, as the party reassembles in the common room of the tavern after a long rest, the barkeep brings some slightly stale bread and a few wedges of cheese to the table for breakfast.
"Oh! And, this was sent to you around daybreak this morning." He tosses a small scroll, bearing an ornate wax seal.
OldMan snatches the scroll, breaks the seal, and reads aloud:
"My friends and companions, we are indeed grateful for the kindness and care you have shown these past several days. In learning more of our father's plight, we must take up arms under his banner once again. Our campaign looks to lead us north but it is difficult to say whether that will be our final destination. We look forward to a day when we might be able to join you again and forge a brighter future for in Phandalin. With our compliments, Regula and Bearkiller of House Argent. P.S. The barkeep has been trusted with the +1 longsword we found, which I have been carrying and return to you all now. He has already been handsomely paid for his services, so don't let him swindle more coin out of you."
With that, the party has the whole day ahead. I believe several had errands to make in Neverwinter before setting out toward the Orc Camp. Please post your intentions and what you are looking to buy and I can provide a cost. We will not RP this part out, so just make a post so I know what you need and then we can be on our way.
For the dragon tooth arrows, they can be crafted by a local specialist from the dragon teeth you supplied for 3 gp per arrow.
(Galben comes down the stairs the next morning and walks up to the bar and orders breakfast and finds a seat at a table. Once he is served breakfast he gives the barkeep 1 sp and eats his meal while he waits for Tubard to come down to start the day about town.)
(He asks the barkeep)
"Where do I go to get arrows made? Also, is there any place in down that might have magical or enchanted items?"
Dynamite - you are told you need to speak with the local experts about that, the Rockseeker brothers. Otherwise, Phandalin may have old stores available.
Smoke bombs - only 2 left in stock - 35 gp each
Amulet of the Drunkard - no leads at all on where to find this
Dagger - standard - 2 gp
Ball bearings - bag of 1000 - 1 gp
Galben - your arrows are made. You can just subtract the cost for their production. Any other shopping items before we press on?
I will purchase one smoke bomb, dagger and the ball bearings. Tubard stumbles up to the bar "Galben, I would like to meet with the Rockseeker brothers to procure some materials. Do you think we have time to fit this in?"
(I'm pretty sure the Rockseekers are the dwarves we're supposed to rescue.) Jake accompanies Galben and Tubard to the Rockseeker abode, hoping to learn more about their whereabouts.
"Thank you OldMan. Ilmater's favor will be upon you."
(Galben eats his meal)
"Then after we have finished our business in the city we shall head on an Orc hunt."
(Galben to the group)
"I would like to see tomorrow if I could get a dragon tooth arrow or 2 made, as well as sell off our extra weaponary.
(Galben finished his meal and drink)
"See you all in the morning"
(He heads of the bar to get a room key and heads up the stairs.)
Tubard follows Galben upstairs and passes out on the hardwood floor
After eating his fill, Moonraker heads to his room to rest as well.
(Galben sadden by the departure of the group members looks to the group)
"I am going to get some dragon teeth arrows made and sell the weapons we collected. Maybe pick up a another thing or two as well"
(Looking at the dragonborn and taking the +1 sword from the barkeep and handing it to him)
"I think this will be helpful to you, if there are no objections"
"Would anyone like to join me on the venture around town?"
(Galben will go the the local specialist and have 5 dragon tooth arrows made and sell
. He will also ask if he has any other special arrows available. He will also inquire about any shops of magical items in the area)
Tubard will also go on a shopping spree with Galben.
He is looking for the following items:
Dynamite
Smoke bomb
Amulet of the Drunkard
Dagger
Ball Bearings
"Time to spend some hard-earned gold"
(Galben comes down the stairs the next morning and walks up to the bar and orders breakfast and finds a seat at a table. Once he is served breakfast he gives the barkeep 1 sp and eats his meal while he waits for Tubard to come down to start the day about town.)
(He asks the barkeep)
"Where do I go to get arrows made? Also, is there any place in down that might have magical or enchanted items?"
I'm good with what I have for now.
I will purchase one smoke bomb, dagger and the ball bearings. Tubard stumbles up to the bar "Galben, I would like to meet with the Rockseeker brothers to procure some materials. Do you think we have time to fit this in?"
(Galben looks at Tubard)
"Yep, let's go see them."
(Galben and Tubard get directions to find the Rockseeker brothers and go to find them. When they find the building Galben knocks on the door)
(I'm pretty sure the Rockseekers are the dwarves we're supposed to rescue.) Jake accompanies Galben and Tubard to the Rockseeker abode, hoping to learn more about their whereabouts.
(Thanks for getting me headed in the right direction)
(Thallan grabs the dragonborn and OldMan and follows Jake and the rest of the group.)
As they approach the dwelling, Moonraker puts his hand on his newly adorned longsword, ready to test its quality.
