Silas blinks again refocussing his eyes, one word escapes his mouth clearly before he fully regains his senses "Apogee...." And then the situation settles before him, "oh my.. oh no, shit, no, Malachi! What happened? What did I do!?" He immediately throws himself to the floor his knees thudding loudly against the wooden slats as he moves to help Marion check on Malachi, "should we move him? Can you heal him? Should I get help? Tell me what to do!" He pleads with Marion in a panic, looking aback and forth between them.
Distracted as Ashley is by the noise upstairs, she does not notice the glint of the thin blade slowly sliding through the frame of a window behind the bar, angling with practiced and measured patience to trip the latch.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Her gaze remaining focused on Malachi, Marion reaches up and places one hand upon Silas' arm to calm him."Do not panic, I believe the worst of it has passed, the bleeding has stopped and his breathing has settled once more."
Leaning forward over Malachi she peers into his now open eyes, trying to get a sense of if they are focused or not, and if there is anything else she can do to ease his return from whatever ordeal he suffered through."Malachi, are you alright my friend? Are you with us once more?"
"Hey guys, everything ok up there? I heard a loud thump. Do you need anything?"Ashley shouts from the main floor. She is hesitant to leave the area, unsure of the possible foe or foes outside their doors.
Taking Marion at her word, Silas breathes and tries to calm himself, focusing on Malachi he stands up, "I'll bring food, and blankets, yeah? Some water?" As he heads for the door, he once again dons his Firbolg mask.
Malachi appears fine to Marion, if a little pale and chill. But he is breathing and seems to be conscious, which is what matters imminently.
Ashley hears Silas speaking and then footsteps towards the stairs. She looks on, feeling a little anxious to hear what had transpired upstairs to create such a racket. The figure she sees is a Firbolg descending the stairs, but she quickly reminds herself that such was the disguise Silas had donned when heading up in the first place. But as Silas comes fully into view, Ashley sees him hesitate for a moment in surprise, eyes locked on something behind her. A moment later, she feels a soft hand on her shoulder, and a sharp dagger at her throat.
Two looks up at the Firbolg from behind his hostage and whispers, "And here I thought I'd finally gotten someone alone. Call for help or make any noise and I will cut her throat, then yours, and burn this place to the ground. I am just here to have a chat with someone."
"Burn? Did you say burn? Oh... I like fire." and Ashley's hair fully erupts in flame right in her assailants face. She quickly flicks her wrist, casting produce flame and tries to press that ball of fire against the hand holding the rapier.
(not sure what you'd want me to roll for this to see if it works? hoping the hair will distract him from my spell)
"Ashley wait!" Silas calls out trying to mask his voice, putting on the deep thrumming tones of someone older and wiser than himself. He lifts his arms up plans down in a calming gesture, showing two that he is not armed.
"Why don't you take a seat sir, who is it you want to talk to? There's no need for violence now, I'm sure we can work something out... Would you like something to eat?"
Silas knows that the average person will try to de-escalate a situation before turning to violence or giving in to threats, and do he tries this course of action first, he nods to Ashley in an attempt to reassure her.

"Mmmmph," Two grunts in pain, trying to keep his outcry quiet and restrained as he quickly pulls his dagger back from Ashley and nurses his scorched wrist. He clearly hadn't been expecting magic, and his eyes dart around the room as he assesses the situation. Having lost his leverage and knowing that there are others in the building who could probably be summoned with a quick call, Two straightens up and sheathes his dagger, walking over to a nearby chair. He stands by it though, rather than immediately sitting down.
Shaking his smoking wrist, he says in his soft voice, "No food for me, thank you. I am sorry it is under these circumstances, but glad we finally have an opportunity to talk. As I said, I am here looking for someone. A goliath. You may not have been able to tell, but it is something rather important."
"I can see now that it is obviously important... can you describe the Goliath, maybe fill us in on why they are so important? Now that you've decided to pursue a radical course of action, I think you at least owe us that much..."As Ashley is freed, Silas beckons her over and tries to keep her close.
With two by the chair Silas observes the man's body language, although Two has always been a highly trained and difficult to read person, Silas has still known the man for as long as he can remember.
Insight 5 to see if two is going to spring a surprise on the pair
Ashley doesn't stop Two as he heads over to the chair and she moves closer to Silas. She glares at the man, highly pissed at how he snuck in and got the jump on her. She flicks her wrist again and holds the flame in her hand, staring at the man. She doesn't trust herself to talk, being able to tell that Silas is trying to gleam information from the man. But it's a struggle.
Two regards Silas and Ashley for a moment and then sits down in his chair, crossing his legs. He drums his fingers as he scrutinizes the pair. "He's a young man. Tall. Perhaps with bloodshot eyes. He went missing, and his father sent me to look for him and bring him home. There was a situation, but it's been resolved. He's very worried, you see, that someone may have kidnapped him. So perhaps you can understand and forgive my more direct approach, when I began to feel something was off about this place."
He leans forward and steeples his fingers. "No use denying it. You don't see many genasi this side of the Shield, especially ones with magic, and I've never heard of a firbolg running an inn. I also happen to know that the council doesn't issue building permits for land this far east. Of course for every question I have, I'm sure the higher-ups in Talmouth would have ten more."
He leans back with the small self-satisfied smirk of someone who is sure they have a winning hand and doesn't care to hide it. "Now, the council has their business and I have mine. If I am able to talk to the man I am looking for, your business," he gestures to the building around them, "never has to enter the picture."
Despite the situation, Two seems confident and calm. Silas isn't sure what his plan is.
Silas does not react to the threat toward the inn, he instead stands his ground, crossing his arms decisively "not myinn, just doing some work here, but I'll be sure to tell the owner your concerns when they get back... Why would anyone want to kidnap your Goliath? Those big brutes are normally muscleheads right? Hired help, ten a penny in the big city, with your 'higher ups' and your councils.. which means that this particular one must be worth something, right? My guess, and you tell me if I'm wrong here, is that his father would pay a little sum for information on the whereabouts of his precious offspring? Much more readily that he would take the effort to wipe out some lowly merchant folk." Silas rubs his Firbolg fingers together greedily. Cleverly trying to mask his own intentions with another's vice.
Two stops smiling and lowers his hands. One of the reaches slowly to his belt and he pulls out a coin purse. He reaches in and pulls out a gold piece which he sets on the table, and then a second and a third. He then cinches the purse closed and tosses it on the table. It jingles with the sound of much more coin when it lands, and Two sweeps up the three coins he had removed and places them in a tight pocket, leaving the purse sitting between him and Silas. He smirks again. "What'll this get me?"
Still very much angry, Ashley hurls the flame she's been holding at the coin purse, and lets the fabric go up in smoke. Leaving hot gold pieces in its wake.
"that'll buy you some information, there was one Goliath, travelling alone, came to stock up on supplies before heading out, had red eyes and looked like he hadn't slept in days, paranoid like, we were kinda glad he didn't stay, wouldn't say where he was going but he headed toward the mountain pass, watched him go myself..." as Silas regards the coin it bursts into flame and his attention, likely along with two's is brought to Ashley as she fumes silently, "considerthe information paid for... but for threatening the people residing in this inn, I think you owe her an apology and whatever else she wants..." Silas takes an empty drinking mug and places it upside down over the gold, snuffing out any lingering flames, he then looks back to two for his reaction.
