Malachi shared a glance with Joren as they recognized the cave-in was more than it seemed. Quickly summoning his mage hand he moves it forward and attempts to flip the “rock” that appeared to have a leg showing. Just to see what they were facing. Perception: 12.
Malachi needed no extra encouragement from Joren to move back behind the others, moving back toward the main tunnel but staying just behind the others as attacks started to fly.

Joren is not quite sure what they are dealing with. All he knows is that they are very hard. But then Malachi flips the one between them that was leaking hemolymph. Its dead body rolls over, and both of them can see that on the underside of the hard stone-like shell is a vulnerable looking underbelly with 6 spidery legs and two sharp pincers. Like a crab disguised as a rock.
(Thanks to that flip, Malachi's perception of 10 is enough to tell that these stone-crabs have a very high ac if struck normally, but if struck from below, or flipped somehow (prone), attacks would likely face a far lower ac)
As Samir's disc slides toward the nearest stone-crab, it knocks into one of the things legs, and the creature quickly recoils in time to avoid the ensuing gout of flame now standing between it and Vilus.
Marion falls in to position next to Joren and raises her shield. She flicks splayed fingers out toward the nearest stone-crab, and a bolt of flame springs forth.

The stone-crabs scuttle forward slowly but inexorably, trying to close in on and surround the party. The first one that Vilus had managed to hurt closes the distance to Joren at the front of the group. It clicks its claws twice, and then snaps them suddenly at Joren's leg, but they meet naught but metal. The one that shrugged off the attack from Joren's echo, along with another nearby stone-crab, snaps it claws back in retaliation.

Neither manages to find purchase, however, and one of them overbalances, still standing amidst the real rocks, and rolls down an uneven slope to land on its back. It legs wriggle helplessly in the air.
(The others all take the dash action to move a total of 20 feet. There are now three adjacent to Joren and Marion.)
Jorenreacts and attacks one of the crab-rocks dashing away from his echo's position. But instead of trying to damage it, the echo uses his greatsword as a lever, attempting to use the opening under the scurrying legs to flip it over.
While Joren has his attention on one that is running, Ashley tries to seize the opportunity of the one that has rolled onto it's back, raising her hands high in the air, she murmurs, "A holy spark, a righteous fire; I summon forth a flame most dire" casting sacred flame she brings her arms down, pointing her fingers towards the upended creature, bringing forth radiant light on it.
Vilus leans down grabbing at either side of the rockcrab's shell and attempts to lift the creature, turning it's softer yet leggy undercarriage towards Ashley, Samir and Marion are grouped, he wears an aggressive grin as he lifts.
Joren times his strike through his echo for a moment where the passing stone-crab's legs are extended, and swings for the gap between its shell and the ground. Two of the creature's legs get in the way and give a juicy crunch as steel splits them in twain (4 damage). Joren's echo then thrusts up on the handle of his greatsword, levering the crab onto its back. Beside him, a flaming light descends upon the other flipped crab and it squeals as steam escapes from its insides (5 damage).
(You have learned that they auto-fail Dex saves when flipped.)
Vilus needs to reach pretty far around to get his fingers under either side, dancing his feet back out of reach of the stone-crab's angry claws, but he manages to find firm purchase. It attempts to dig its legs into the ground to resist, but Vilus strains his back muscles to their limit and hoists the creature aloft, turning it towards his companions, victorious.

(There should be 2 overturned stone-crabs next to Joren's echo now - the one that overturned itself when critically failing its attack and the other that Joren overturned and wounded as it was attempting to dash away.)
Having had his echo turn over a stone-crab as a reaction, Joren follows up and, from his echo's position quickly brings his greatsword down on the same, slightly damaged, overturned stone-crab in an attack. He then has the echo rapidly pivot into a second attack (Action Surge) and attacks again, either on the same overturned stone-crab, or if it is dead, then the other one which had overturned itself near the echo.
(The echo is staying in melee with the other stone-crabs that are near the echo... Joren himself tries to form a blockade with Marion in front of the other party members).
Jorens sword plunges straight through the softer plates of armour on the crab's exposed belly, and more hemolymph spurts forth as its legs twitch and then go still. The momentum of his spin into the next attack however, is slowed by the corpse's grip on his blade. The dead crab stays skewered on his blade until the moment before impact, but it is too late for Joren to get the speed required to break through the second crab's carapace.

Watching Vilus turn toward the party, hoisting one of the rock crabs with a strained smile, Malachi pulls out one of the cultist’s curved daggers and steps forward, driving it into the creatures fleshy underside. "Hold still!" he calls,
The sharp blade slides in with ease, and the stone-crab tries futilely to claw at Malachi's arm, but he has already pulled away. After a few seconds, the creature's heavy claws droop, though its 3 of its legs continue to wriggle and spasm as its life leaves its body.

Seeing the first crab dodge aside from his spurting flame disc, Samir narrows his eyes in concentration as he flicks another of the small devices at one of the overturned crabs.
Conjure Bonfire again, this time on the overturned crab near Joren (I believe there is one left there) DC 14 Dex or 3 fire damage.
The device skitters across the stone floor, wedging itself under the stone-crab's shell. As the flame kicks up, its legs begin wriggling furiously, and a high pitched squeal escapes like a boiling kettle.
Marion lets forth a blast of frigid air, catching four of the 7 remaining crabs (7 )
As the crabs begin to close in around the group, Marion's frost fingers catch them, and their movements slow as they brace against the blast. One of them lifts up a claw, only to have it snap off, brittle from the cold.

Everyone does their best to step out of the way of the onslaught of clacking claws, but with so many limbs to track, both Joren and Marion feel the bite of chitin through gaps in their armour, followed by the unmistakable sting of some hostile venom. Beyond the mob, Joren sees his echo dashed to pieces by the last crab.
