"I don't know," Joe says. "They know about the tunnel now; so, spying on them will be difficult. We should probably let Dorgrim and Daruin know what's happened and start fortifying Daruinjak for an attack. Here," he continues, reaching into a pocket and pulling out a small vial of green liquid. "Give this to Dire. It's a healing potion. Someone needs to get to the top of that hill and see what is happening in the goblin camp. Other than collapsing the tunnel, I don't know else what to do."
Rhi gracefully snatches the potion with his taloned hands and pours it into Dire's open mouth in one smooth motion. He then asks to the others "Who it the most stealthily of our crew?"
Haldir volunteers for the mission, if no one else is more capable… “some guidance would be nice, but I think I can get in get out quickly enough…” Haldir squats down with one paw on the ground, the off hand still holding his crossbow…
With guidance from Joe giving him the lay of the land, Haldir makes it to the top of the hill unseen. Below him is spread out a massive camp full of goblins and hobgoblins, with a few bugbears thrown in for good measure. In the distance, he notices a large tent overshadowing all the rest with a blood red banner flying from its center pole. Thousands of goblins must be own there, more than enough to defeat Freeport. The horde could march over Daruinjak as if it was a mere stepping stone, destroying and looting anything in its path.
Meanwhile, Rhi and Dire are surprised to see Joe talking into the back of his wrist. A faint, somewhat familiar voice responds.
"Come on, guys," Joe says once he is finished talking to the voice on his wrist. "We need to get back into the tunnel. Rhi, tell Haldir to report back here. I'll help Dire. We need to move. They are going to blow the tunnel as soon as I give them the word."
Joe moves to help Dire into the tunnel. As he touches you, Dire, you notice he is muttering a small prayer under his breath and you feel a tingling, invigorating sensation. You are fully healed.
Rhi signals to Haldir, and as he draws near he says "We need to go before they see us. And we need to be out of here before the whole place blows." Then he ducks into the tunnel.
The party makes it back through the tunnel to the main mine shaft. Joe gives the word, and a loud boom rings throughout the mine. A few seconds later, a cloud of dust comes rolling out from the tunnel. "It's done," Joe says. "Those goblins won't be getting to us that way."
Joe leads you all back out to the mining village of Daruinjak. You are now second level. Go ahead and update your characters as they help prepare the town to defend against a goblin invasion.
“Well done all…. Get some rest… I’ll need some rest to start, but maybe we can find some paying work tomorrow before we head out, I need access to some shortswords if possible…. How are you each doing in terms of material needs? Or are well so focused on the fight we have forgotten our humanoidity? “. Haldir Chuckles, knowing nothing is as it seems… maybe this is the last calm moment before the entire city is run over… it is good to remember to enjoy life, however small the joys we find.
[Ok levelled] Rhi looks over at Haldir and remarks " If you trust yourself, any choice you make will be correct. If you do not trust yourself, anything you do will be wrong." Rhi then finds a quite spot on the ground, sits down, folds up his thin but powerful legs and begins to silently hum to himself.
Dire checks his equipment and says “when we can earn some gold I plan to buy some sturdier armor than this. In the mean time is there someone I can borrow some medium armor from?Other than that I’m ready for duty. “
Dorgrim and Daruin, the founders of Daruinjak, say they can get you a nice set of scale mail or half plate for you Dire, if you agree to help defend Daruinjak.
