Looking out across the field before the western gate, Dire sees four platoons of four ranks of five goblins each with a hobgoblin to the left of each rank. A goblin boss is also in the first rank of each platoon. In front of the platoons is a lone hobgoblin captain. Nine elven archers line the wall where Dire walks, and behind the wall are sixteen dwarven defenders ready for battle.
Dire, you notice several goblins among the dwarves, including the one who hollered for the others to surrender. Despite being goblins, these creatures appear to actually be helping the dwarves with their weapons and armor, like squires or servants.
As the goblins form up to begin their assault on the Western Gate of Daruinjak, Rhi's dart hits the leader in the chest. A flurry of arrows flies over the heads of the archers, fatally wounding six dwarven fighters.
Dire hits the lead hobgoblin hard, but somehow he is still standing. The dwarves form up at the gate awaiting the expected attack. The archers fire into the goblins, taking several out of action. Rhi hits the leader with another dart.
While the front two platoons charge the dwarves at the gate, the back two platoons fire their arrows into the defenders. An archer goes down, hit by several goblin arrows as he tries to restring his bow. Three dwarven defenders go down.
