Koric tries to follow the one he set on fire last time, perhaps a trail of smoke or a shimmer in the air. If and when he catches sight of any, he launches another bolt. If someone else has already attacked on, he tries to target the same one.
Readied(?) Attack: 18 Damage: 18 (second attack for (dis)advantage 19)
You again scorch the spirit stuck between Soloth and Lux, and despite resisting the heat of your flames, it instantly disappears in the blaze of your firebolt, fading from this plane once and for all
Elandra looks around at the group, trying to work out how to get the spirits visible for any length of time. "Jade, tell me where they are, I'll light them up! soloth, swing true with those blades" She backs herself up to the pillar again, worried about the shunts of invisible force.
Action: Ready Faerie Fire - Targeted at wherever Jade points on her next turn Bonus Action: Bardic Inspiration on Soloth
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
@Elandra
You prepare your Faerie Fire, ready to unleash it wherever Jade directs you to on her next turn, hoping to get as many of the spirits as possible
Jade, on your turn, let me know where you'd tell Elandra to cast the spell!
Dazlyn takes the dash action, rushing over to the farther north spirit Jade had pointed out to you all, and takes an action surge to attack it with his war pick Attack: 13 Damage: 6 Attack: 15 Damage: 8 (All halved due to resistance)
The spirit in front of Soloth is already dead, so I'm just doing to say you fired at the one north of that (and moved to reach it) to keep things moving. Fire flickers out of your hands, but the spirit is able to evade your attacks, the firebolt flying harmlessly over its shoulder
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
(since we can't get both spirits in the veil of the fairie fire grrrr... I'm going to have her try and cover the one that is barely hit.)
Jade shouts out to Elandra... "Aim your spell right between Soloth and Norbus!"
She then runs to the spirit that is straight North of Lux (I think I can make it, for sure with my 10' reach, but maybe not my bonus action. If not, ignore that) and yanks out her Blood Spear. Using the magical weapon, she attempts to pierce the creature straight through, calling on Tempus to assist her with radiant energy.
Attack: 18 Damage: 5
Attack: 24 Damage: 11
Add divine smite if one hits...9 radiant damage
And spins it around for a good crack with her bonus action
As Jade points between Norbus and Soloth, your fey flames flicker out of your hand, and it begins to catch on something barely visible between the two of them Dex Save: 6
The spirit is illuminated, instantly visible to the entire group (it's in the location noted in Jade's most recent divine sense update, and it is no longer invisible)
@Jade You rush over to the spirit north of lux (you can make it within 5ft), and slice at with your blood spear. It has little effect on the spirit at first, but your final blow is illuminated with the divine might of Tempus himself, and the spirit glows blood red before dissipating entirely
@All Norbus grabs his climbing gear out of his pack and begins to try and scale the surface: Athletics Check: 26
He clambers back over the edge with ease, packs his gear back up, and steadies himself in case a spirit attempts to push him off again
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Dex Save: 4
Soloth slices at the spirit, and it staggers back, wounded and confused, only to be blasted with the radiant flames of Lathander himself, evaporating in the holy light
As the glow dims, you all feel the wind begin to blow again and the ridge seems calm once again. All that remains is the cloak of one of the wights and the massive circle of thorns and vines. It's grown late, so it will most likely be time to camp soon, although you have a bit of time before the gods summon your tents for the night
And that brings us to the end of that endless combat! We are out of initiative. What do you all do from here?
"Soloth, it is never silly to question a strange creature's motives. You never know, and you'd hate to be too late and regret it." she checks herself over and looks around, "I'm doing fine, how's everyone else? And let's try and get off this cliff before we make camp. Hopefully, that isn't too far."
Elandra breathes a sigh of relief as the last of the invisible menace is vanquished. "Worry not Soloth, I don't think any of us saw that one coming. A nasty little trick indeed, and well placed for it. I'm not familiar with these creatures, though what we've seen certainly suggests they are not the mindless undead that so many tales recount in an almost comedic manner." Agreeing with the suggestion to move on before they make camp, Elandra straightens the broad-brimmed hat atop her locks and gets herself ready to move on.
Norbus groans a bit as he stands up and collects his belongings, putting his pack on his back. He says faints "I'm as alright as I can be after that fall. Nothing a peaceful night's rest can't take care of. Let's just get off this blasted ridge before some undead beast tries to kill me for the third time today"
With that, he prepares his pack to get a move on and reach camp for the night
@All
Going to give it a few more hours before I move on, but I will assume everyone is good with traveling for a bit more and then camping for the night. If there's anything else you want to do first, feel free to do it now before I move on or just include it in a future post!
Once he gets over the fear that something else if going to appear, Koric examines the battlefield, idly listening to the conversation. He picks up the cloak for later examination, and stuffs it into his pack before shaking his head. "Like I said earlier, ''Negotiating with the undead is a perilous affair'...now you know just how perilous." He casts his gaze over his wounded companion, "They are an affront to nature, a malignant and evil presence, and only seek our death or servitude. Why anyone felt otherwise escapes me."
With that, he tightens the straps of his pack. "This might make a good camp, but I don't have the stomach for it, so lets move on."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Going to have us all move on at this point!
You all walk along the ridge for about another hour, and it begins to pan out onto a larger plateau, the sharp cliff edges of the trap you have all escaped slowly becoming less and less steep as you walk. By now, the sides of the ridge lie close to the horizon on each side, and the landscape is dotted with trees. They aren't growing very high at this elevation, but it's nice to see some real vegetation. As the sun sets and the plateau is filled with orange light, you all can make out the outline of the southwest ridge of the Sword Mountains, where you will all be traveling tomorrow.
As you settle down for the night, Dazlyn begins to pull some camping gear out of his bag, but is immediately pushed backwards by your camp appearing out of thin air yet again. In addition to the extravagant tents for the six of you, there's an two more equally lavish tents, connected by an ornate metal beam with the anvil of Moradin carved on it. Dazlyn laughs, turning to Norbus and commenting "Seems we got real lucky with our new companions, eh Norbus?" Norbus chuckles lightly back, as much as he can in his injured state, and says "Says the one who hasn't been nearly flattened by a massive flesh heap or thrown of a cliff". He then turns to the group and says "I'll see you all in the morning. For now though"... he doubles over for a moment from a pain in his side, but then shakes it off and keeps talking "...I'm in desperate need of some rest". He then walks carefully into one of the two twin tents for him and Dazlyn, preparing to get some rest
Dazlyn turns to the group and says "I'll stay up tonight to help keep watch. Been quite fortunate to avoid much harm in our battles today" With that, he makes a quick motion with his hands in prayer to Moradin, and sits down on a nearby rock in order to keep watch for the night. Perception: 6
What do you all do as you make camp for the night? Does anyone else join Dazlyn on watch (those who were on watch last night could risk exhaustion by being on watch again)? As usual, anyone on watch gets a short rest and anyone off of it a long one. Anyone on watch should make a perception roll, but they will only matter if they are a Nat 1 or Nat 20
Koric, do you do anything with the cloak or the scroll with the Clairvoyance spell you got earlier today? (I think you are the one currently holding that)
As they settle in for the night, Koric pulls out the scroll and begins the process of transcribing it into his spell book. When he is done, he then pulls the cloak from his pack, looking at it closely. Curious how it survived, he takes out his spell book and begins a ritual, hoping to learn more.
