Jade takes her blood spear and knocks the butt of it on the ground a couple of times and lowers her head to Tempus. "Thank you, great one. This will definitely help in my mission."
She looks to the rest of the group, "I'm ready when all of you are."
Koric takes the pearl and stares at it a moment, "It is a generous gift," he says with a low bow to his goddess, . Hanging it around his neck he steps backwards a little self-consciously, then watches as the others take their gifts in turn. Despite the wonderous gift his expression is melancholy. What I really need is a library, so much knowledge and so many spells lost and I always thought that I would have the time to study them, and never did.
"By your grace, my Lord, I need never again abide winter's foul intrusions. May I be a bastion against those who wield frost as their weapon. May they crumble like charcoal beneath your sacred wrath." He tucks the gem away as delicately as he is able with his broad, armoured fingers, then holds his hand skyward, staring at the ring as though it were diamond-studded and glittering. "I shall cherish these gifts. None shall take this ring from me without also taking the finger on which it rests."
Elandra bends low in an extravagant curtsey before the Lady Tymora, "My Lady, luck will ever be on your side and but a sliver of that virtue would be a boon and more. I would choose my course and accept your augmentation of my own luck." As she rises she deftly swirls her hand around and seemingly pulls a coin from out of the air. "For were the choice left to a flip of the coin, we both know that there is no chance involved in the outcome." She flips the coin, catches it in her cupped left hand before flipping her hand and slapping it on the rear of her right hand. She withdraws her left hand revealing the result, two coins adorn the rear of Elandra's right hand one showing heads, the other tails. She winks at Lady Tymora.
Tymora turns to you and says "Very well then! This should ensure that the odds always fall in your favor!"The coins you just reveal fly out in front of you for a moment, become instantly molten, and are shaped into a small talisman, which as it floats back towards your hand looks like the face of a cat has been carved into it. This is a Stone of Good Luck (Luckstone).
@All
With that, Mystra turns to you all and says "With that, champions, I will return you to your quest. I wish you the best of luck in your journey into the Plane of Water". Almost instantly after she finished her sentence, your vision begins to flicker once again before going black.
You all find yourself back on the rock face above what was once a raging river, but is now simply a still body of water, whatever had been causing the current to flow so violently having left. The statue and the myrmidon you know resided within it are nowhere to be found, but the fountain it stood on remains where it was originally. Strangely enough, it is still flowing in multiple massive spouts, forming an ornate pattern as the water crashes into the basin of the fountain or the body of water as a whole, but there doesn't appear to be any change in the water level or water flowing over where there was once a waterfall. The glowing light where Lux dissapeared has faded completely, and only mundade stone remains
Effigy, this place is entirely foreign to you, though you'd guess by the geography you've arrived somewhere near the Sword Mountains. Clearly, this must be were the gods have sent you to enter the Plane of Water
With the exeption of Effigy, who's ring of warmth merely glows, clearly providing more than enough warmth on its own, everyone arrives in heavy winter gear, a gift from the gods for the journey ahead (feel free to describe what your cold weather gear looks like!). What do you all do as you arrive back at where you were before this second meeting with your dieties?
Elandra looks around at the scene, familiar and yet changed, the calm water sending a shudder up her spine as she takes a moment gazing into the depths. She bends down, picking up a small flat pebble and tosses it out over the surface with a flick of her wrist, causing it to skip across the surface thrice before finally hitting the water and submerging into the depths below. As she watches and the ripples settle across the surface, she seems to relax a little, "Well, it's hardly conclusive but hopefully we aren't going to be accosted by invisible creatures should we take another swim. Though these new clothes..." She gestures to the new apparel that the gods have seen fit to garb her in. Her figure-hugging leathers have been replaced with slightly padded and waxed versions, the fur trims around them coloured brightly in pinks and oranges. Her corset and blouse remain unchanged, though are now covered by a similarly fur-trimmed and rain-proofed cloak which rests across her shoulders under the straps of her pack, the dull brown colouring a low contrast to her vibrant tangerine coloured hair that brushes over it. Though the other features of her outfit have changed, her broad-brimmed hat and it's colourful plume retain their normal place.
"So, what's the plan? I'm assuming we need to travel through that." She points towards the fountain and the spouts of water.
Koric look around and as he does so he wraps his new clothes tightly around him, relishing in the multiple layers of furs and wool. Finally he turns back to the others, "Perhaps someone who can swim well should check what is to be found?"
"Thank you, my lady. I shall be sure to use them well", Liri says to her goddess, before they are transported back to the portal again.
She studies the water carefully, looking for any odd ripples or other signs that there might be more creatures in the water. "Perhaps it might be worth trying to check for any more of those watery creatures first. Otherwise, whoever goes in might be in for a rough time again."
Effigy rumbles a curse in Primordial, a click at the back of the throat like cracking wood. "If the children of water would oppose us, let them come forth and be unmade. Our charge will never be but half-finished until examples are set."
He crouches down over the bank, his fingers gripping into the earth, clenching so firmly that his fists tremble. "Do you hear, you formless driblets?" he hisses. "The fury of the Firelord shall boil you dry, and naught but a passing mist to mark your end. Tempt him not."
As Effigy hurls insults at the water below, the fountain begins to spout water more violently, as if it had heard the threats. Still, the water itself is visibly empty of any more elementals
Koric watches the water surge and splash, "So...someone with skills at swimming?" He looks at his companions, notably those who previously showed so much skill in the water.
(( Or do we all just want to jump in with the spell active again? ))
"Well if you all stop threatening the water, I'm willing to head in to see what's going on. Best to tie a rope to me, just in case and you can pull me back hopefully."Jade offers.
Elandra nods to Jade, "Rather you than me this time. I don't think I'll ever tell tale of a placid and serene looking pool in quite the same way ever again." She grabs the rope that had been her lifeline only a short time earlier and offers to tie it around Jade so she can venture forth. "I hope all this water doesn't make you too uncomfortable. You're a brave warrior m'lady, I thank thee."
Jade smiles at Elandra, "After what I watched you endure, I do not blame you one bit." She ties the rope around herself, then nods at Elandra, "That should do it, we'll see what's down there!" and she dives into the water.
You jump in the water, and find that it is now rather shallow when it isn't rushing like it was when you were here last. As you stand up, you feel the watter ripple around you, the fountain again sputtering, but don't feel as if there is anything moving in the water around you. Whatever threats were here were either already vanquished or have since left
Elandra watches as Jade wades easily through the water towards the fountain and relaxes visibly as the risk of further conflict appears to have now passed. "Well, let's get to investigating this portal. The sooner that we are through it, the sooner we can deal with whatever is on the other side, and get back here. Any last minute preparations that people want to do? I'd rather assume that we are going to encounter something hostile the moment we step through and be ready for it, rather then get ambushed again."
She adjusts her pack, and the first gift from her goddess, so that the bag is easily accessible, it's fuzzy balls safely stowed away.
Jade didn't realize how tense she was until she can finally relax and wade through the water towards the fountain. She unties the rope from around her waist, not wanting that to possibly get caught on something and hold her back. When Elandra gets near, she hands it back to her with thanks.
"Yes, let's get through the portal and complete this part of the mission. I'm ready when you all are."
Jade takes her blood spear and knocks the butt of it on the ground a couple of times and lowers her head to Tempus. "Thank you, great one. This will definitely help in my mission."
