(( DM: I'm assuming Koric is still getting about his business, but keeping a close eye on what's going on. Is that reasonable? ))
Koric in busy with his ritual and does not notice the movement through the door until it is happening, "Watch ou'..." he says, then halts mid-sentence, instead watching with interest as they go through. When no danger appears he sighs in relief, "Whoever set those runes likely knows someone crossed them," he says before his attention returns to his book.
The runes are on the door on the far side of the room, but do not appear to be over the stairs leading down, so Elandra and Liri did not cross them. And yep! I'm assuming you've been busy examining teh books and scrolls. Are you now re-focusing on the room they just entered?

(( It depends on timing: he did two rituals and then searched through the books and scrolls, so I'm thinking that's 30 minutes or more while everyone else does stuff ))
Koric will take the book on eels and the three scrolls. When he has an hour free he plans to add the spell to his books.
When he is done, Koric lights a torch and walks down the stairs to join the others. He moves slowly and cautiously, asking Balthar to watch and listen as well, examining the walls as he goes then nods to the others a little nervously before he investigates the room.
Perception as he moves along and enters room: 19, Balthar: 19
Investigation for more detailed examination of what is there: 23
You and Balthar give the room a quick scan, and immediately pinpoint a small indent on the left wall. Taking a closer look at it, you see a small panel in the wall, with two levers, one on each side, and small button in the center. Upon closer investigation, each lever has a small arrow in the panel next to it, each of them pointing in opposite directions. Both levers are in their downward position
"Hmph!" Koric does a double-take then scurries between the two levers and back again, making certain of what he has seen. He points to the levers and the small panel as he turns to the others in the room. "What do you think this is, eh?"
Backing away from the panel, he slowly leaves the room. "Do you think it's worth...you know...moving them, or something?"
A spectral hand appears in the air between Koric and the levers.
Elandra moves her musical hand over to Koric's freshly summoned appendage as the two hands shake. "Perhaps we can do some remote control of them if we have to? First though, let's try to work out what they might be for, or more pertinently, how they might be trapped. We know that there is the floor indentation on the way in. I'm going out on a limb and I'd suggest that moving the levers will change the position of the arrows on this panel. Then if we press the button with the arrows in the right position, something good happens." She takes a more detailed look around the room, trying to look for clues that would relate to the arrows. She keeps her mage hand close, and uses it to help if needed.
Liri moves back out of the room towards Koric. "Maybe just pull the lever that's pointing to the other side of the room first? Perhaps it opens a passage on the other side or something like that?"
Koric nods and, once the room is empty, does as Liri suggests. His hands shake slightly and a glimmer of sweat can be seen on his brow, despite the cold.
Koric uses his mage hand to press the lever poiting to the other side of the room, careful to stay out of the room as he does so. Immediately, the wall on the other side of the room begins to lower and water rushes rapidly out of it with incredible force, filling the passage to about half level. The panel with the levers begins to flash with all sorts of red lights, and you all suddenly feel very thankful none of you were standing in there.
Immedately afterwards, the door with the runes over it swings open and two blue dragonborns emerge, clad in ornate-looking studded leather and carrying large shields. One turns to the other and says "What in the Stormlord's name was..." before turning to all of you and immeiately raising his weapon, shouting "Master, they are here! We will crush them in your name, Stormlord!"
So, order is as follows: Elandra/Liri, Dragonborn Guards, Soloth, Effigy, Koric
For this combat, I want to try using Owlbear Rodeo, as this will allow everyone to move their own pins and have a constantly updated (although very simple) map! I'll send the link plus password in the OOC chat. Elandra or Liri are up! Up to you who goes first
Elandra's hand dips quickly into her Gray bag of tricks as she tosses one of the fuzzy balls towards the oncoming dragonborn. A Giant Rat appears and immediately attacks the closest foe.
You toss a furry ball at the dragonborn, which morphs into a giant rat, piercing its fangs into the first dragonborn's flesh before landing next to it. The dragonborn flinches a bit, but then simply looks at the rat and scoffs before refocuing on all of you
@Liri
You hurl your flame at the second dragonborn, but the burning bolt is unable to connect with him, glancing harmlessly off of his armor
@All
The first dragonborn ignores the rat, rushing right at Koric. Elandra, you may have the rat make an attack of opportunity. He whips out a large spear, swiping twice at Koric before attempting to hit him in the head with his sheild Spear Attack 1: 22 Damage: 13 Spear Attack 2: 23 Damage: 12 Sheild Bash: Attack: 14 Damage: 9
In addition, if the shield hits you @Koric, you must make a DC 15 Strength save or be knocked prone
The second dragonborn rushes down to about 10 feet above Liri, before screaming "Feel the wrath of Talos's storm!". He then opens his mouth, unleasing a bolt of lightning that crashes through both Liri and Soloth. Both of you must make a DC 14 Dex save or take 19 lightning damage, taking half on a sucessful save
(( Koric save: 5 (in log), but then I realized he could use a reaction to avoid the shield altogether ))
Koric lets out a cry of fear as the dragonborn rushes toward him; the first two blows land but he manages to throw up a magical shield, blocking the final blow, and avoiding being thrown to the ground. Severely battered, he glances around the room looking for a safe place, if there are any.

@All
Correction, the lever with the arrow facing towards the far end of the room is actually in the upwards position
Koric nods, now stading outsidse the room, "Perhaps they should point the same way?"
(( Koric will, once everyone is out of the room, use Mage Hand to adjust the levers to match the symbols ))
(OOC: Sorry, wasn't clear, the arrows are pointing sideways, not up and down. One is pointing towards the entrance and one is pointing away)
Liri moves back out of the room towards Koric. "Maybe just pull the lever that's pointing to the other side of the room first? Perhaps it opens a passage on the other side or something like that?"
