"Let me give it a try," Luna says as he maps the best path up to the window. A moment later, the half-elf takes a running start and carries the momentum upwards as he attempts to climb up to the second story.
Luna finds it easy going. The wall is cracked and pitted, with many easy handholds, and the coiling mess of vines that crawls up its side also helps, since at night time, vines this old rarely move. Still, he tries to mostly use the options the wall provides him. But when a brick crumbles beneath his grip, he suddenly finds that the wall no longer provides the best surface. He falls back and down, towards the ground... and then stops. For a moment, he is relieved, until he realizes why he's stopped. A green vine, fresher than the ones around it, wraps around his wrist, suspending him. It's saved him from a fall, but it may have another fate planned for him.

Luna curses to himself as he loses his holding and begins to fall towards the ground. When the vine catches him, he quickly grabs for his hat which was beginning to come off. Assuming it was an ally that had caught him, Luna thanks the group. It is only after seeing Soren shoot a bolt of lightning that he realizes the full extent of the situation he has found himself in.
"Out the frying pan and into the fire it seems," Luna says while firmly securing the hat on his head. The half-elf reaches his hand into his empty, hip holster. The moment he grabs into the holster, a revolver instantly appears. Luna pulls out the revolver, takes aim, and fires twice at the vines.
Meriele cries out when Luna slips and falls, and her hands fly to her head in relief when he is caught, her heart thudding in her chest. She doesn't immediately see the green vine that has snagged him---but when Soren reacts quickly and fires a bolt of lightning, she understands what's going on. Her stomach lurches in terror.
Luna blasts away the vine holding him and falls to the ground, pain shooting up his legs from the impact. He deftly rolls away, out of the reaching grasp of the vines. (6 bludgeoning) Soren's blast misses, shattering the glass in the window.
The vines twist and flail about for a short while, but eventually calm down, conserving their energy.

Feeling foolish for missing, Soren says, "What a reckless bit of noise that was! Are you alright Luna? Do you require healing or can you make it further?"

"Ah, I'm alright. A bit scuffed up, but I'll live," Luna says with a smile. "I've definitely had better days, so it's a bit embarrassing to fumble like that in front of y'all. But hey, that's one way to open a window."
Luna looks up to see where the vines came from, trying to see if there are any further threats lurking in the house.

"Perhaps we are being overly cautious?" Soren takes his grappling hook and rope, then throws it up to the window, careless of the noise it makes. "We know there are still active weeds inside now, and time is slipping away. Let us make our way in and do what we came to do. No sense worrying who will hear us now." He then begins ascending the rope.
Valek looks over as Soren secures his grappling hook and ascends the side of the building. “That’ll work”, a quick smirk punctuating his statement. Seeing no obvious threats in the immediate area, he quickly heads over to the rope and pins it taught to the ground with his foot. Cupping his hands hands together, he bends over slightly to offer a boost up the rope to those who need it. “Okay, who’s next?”
"Good idea." Xilbella nods as the grappling hook is secured. She accepts aid as she starts up the rope. Athletics is a 14, rolled with advantage in the game log.

Meriele breathes a sigh of relief as Luna remains intact. She nods in agreement with Soren's statement. It seems very wise, and although she herself doesn't know the right thing to do to survive on her first Gutrun, she knows that being too fearful is never helpful in a survival situation. When it's her turn to climb the rope, she takes a deep breath and heaves herself up with her arms, accepting help if it's still being offered.
Athletics: 10 (Second roll for advantage if needed): 9
(Very sorry for my inactivity, my play has finished but now I have a lot of things I need to catch up on, I'll update on thursday at the latest, though I'll try to do so before then.)

One by one, the party all begins moving up into the window, using Soren's grappling hook. Everyone manages to get up relatively safely, avoiding making the same mistake Luna did in touching the vines, since they clearly aren't quite as immobile as they seem. It's very fortunate that they do, since as... Valek? Dranon? As the half-dwarf looks about, he spots a few weed-walkers shambling closer to the house, what remains of their ears evidently attracted by the sounds. He quickly ascends, and everyone is inside. It's hard to see at first, but when a light is brought up it is revealed that this place contains exactly what you would expect it to contain: books. Shelves and shelves of books, throughout this entire upper floor. The entire place is caked with dust, roof to floor, and the smell of mildew and must fills the air.

"Well done all." Xilbella says as everyone gathers inside the broken window. She smiles with a slight curl of her lips as she glances to the shelves of books. "Seems we have found what we came to find." She remarks with a nod of her head to the books. "First things first though... We need to find a way to block this window, so the vines don't get in through it. Then we need to scout the place for any vines that may have gotten in already, and make sure all other exits are secure." She looks to the artificers. "While you help with these things, I would like to ask for you to have your ability to detect magic up, so you can look for such things as you move around."

Thankful Luna is alright, Valek remains vigilant in keeping an eye out for any threat potentially attracted by ruckus caused by the unexpected Weed.
