Tests and Trials Game Thread

"Even if we get through the rest of the winter, get Lurn's remains safely laid to rest, and hide the entrance before we leave, Gethren and his kind know you're here, and now so does she. I don't know how much dragons and kobolds like books, but you've treated us well, and I don't like leaving you and your golems in danger. I wonder if we could rally the other tribes to wage war against the dragon's followers and weaken her first? I hoped by tipping her off to Gethren, that the two of them get in a fight and deal with both problems for us, but don't know how likely that is. I also don't like the thought of lots of dead bugbears and goblins and the like meaning that he's got lots of bodies to raise into an army."

"So we crush the undead first, then deal with the dragon?"

Kroshav grins, his opinion of Ernie going up a few notches.

See Kroshav grinning made Clamor's hearth race.  The hero has a plan!  Surely whatever that plan would be it would be glorious!

The Librarian's golem watches the interactions blankly as ever and poses her question again,

"Okay, but what do we do with the bugbear while all this plays out? She is clearly seeking shelter from the dragon for herself and her kin. Providing that shelter will almost certainly draw the dragon's attention."

"Well... I'm not putting Lurn to rest until Gethren is really dealt with if I can help it. We could make the tomb we started more easy to defend and let them use that?", Kroshav suggests. 

Jaq watches the talks and purses his lips.  After hearing Kroshav's last comment, he nods slightly.  "That might be the best plan, that'd at least keep the dragon from attacking here, hopefully, until we are ready for her."  Under his breath he continues barely audible, "Are we really planning on fighting a dang dragon?"

"That would be preferable to housing them here. How large a space have you prepared for the tomb? Would it be sufficient for a tribe?"

"I don't know how big the tribe is..."

((I the player also don't know how much space we've cleared out.))

"I wonder if the tribe can help us with clearing the space in exchange for refuge?"

((Unless the tribe is fewer than 10 individuals, and mostly toddlers, it's gonna be tight.))

"Would probably need to make it bigger inside.... but if they are able to help, work'll go faster if whoever is doing the digging has lots of hands to move the rubble. Can maybe cut the rock into blocks that can be used for building? Can dig tunnels with pockets that can ambush from, build barricades... Might be good to get Mik's input, he's more of an earth delver than I'll ever be, could help design a stronghold for holding off a dragon and her army.", Kroshav says enthusiastically. 

The golem responds with,

"That seems like a better plan."

((Anything else? Otherwise it's late and you could call it a night if you'd like and start something new tomorrow.))

Kroshav would make an attempt at conveying the 'plan' to our guest.

The bugbear seems to get the plan,

"Not this cave. Other cave."

But asks,

"Other cave have food? Water?"

She glances back to the pile of food with a look, that having actually tried the unappetizing food now, means that she must have been very hungry when she came in.

"We can get more of that food over there to feed you.  It's not too good tasting, but it is filling."

She nods,

"Bad food. No food, badder."

She says sagely.

((Busy with work for the last little while and for the next couple of days. One way or the other, I'll have time next week to get the game rolling again. Let me know if there is anything else you'd like to do, otherwise I will just roll into tomorrow.))
