Tests and Trials Game Thread

Thir half looks over her shoulder towards the note and says,

"Dragon watch. Move fast."

She adds,

"Now dragon hide from bird cats, go fast."

She then takes her own advice and starts off nearly directly east over the open stretch of mountain side providing little in the way of cover beyond a scattering of snow and ice covered boulders at a run.

((Presuming Jaq runs along with her))

Nearly to the far side of the washout Jaq notices a boulder about 40' north of them definitely shifts slightly which draws his eyes to meet the familiar red, nearly glowing, eyes of a yeti.

 "I'll deal with this one then.  You go."  Ernos starts after the fleeing figure and launches a pair of Eldritch Blasts at it.

(+3 fire damage on the first hit from Genie's Wrath)

Ernos first blast sends the mobile drift flying off its feet to land in a smoking, unmoving heap in the snow.

Cladmir heard the blasts and felt the hair at the back of his neck raised... then it past as he heard impacts a ways off.  He kept on running but noted that perhaps this tiefling is on their side after all.

“Yeti!    There is a yeti there.”  When Thir is looking at him he points to it.   “ Run or fight?”  As he asks he gets bow in hand. 

Thir slows and turns to look where Jaq indicates and then stops. The yeti, seeing that it has been spotted, shifts and stands.

Thir pulls her own shortbow out slowly and says to Jaq,

"Problem. Eat old and little people."

She casts an eye around their exposed spot,

"Fight here bad. All see."

For its part the yeti leans down poised and ready to react, red eyes not leaving the pair.

Snorting it unleashes a howl that echoes in the mountains. It pauses after the howl, and apparently no liking what it hears it snarls before wheeling around bounding up the mountain.

((Going to try and take it down?))

Cladmir runs off down the trail leaving Ernos alone and effectively splitting the party in four.

((Ernos going to check the body?))

((Kroshav and Ealu are just returning at pace to the others.))

((Yup, but they are still a few minutes away. The snow drift hadn't gotten nearly as far away as Kroshav went.))

((Was figuring you were just timing it out, but I think he'd only suggested that they turn back to Ealu, so making sure I gave a clear action.))

((Kroshav would be on his way back at this point, just still trudging back up the mountain.))

“Can you find this area again later?” He asks Thir. He also looks at the mountains and tries to memorize where he is.     “Let’s get this group to their new home fast.  Then we can come back and bring a few of my group too.  We’ll take care of the yetis.  (I know someone who might like some revenge)

Thir looks confused and points to the faint trail in the snow the pair have left.

"Follow trail, no remember."

She stomps a bit to the side, extra hard to there is a deep print in the icy snow.

"Jaq see? Trail. No remember."

She seems a bit disappointed in Jaq.

((Just waiting to see if Ernos does something with the 'drift'))

Ernos will start approaching the drift, ready to blast it again if it moves.  Otherwise, he's just gonna grab it and drag it along in pursuit of Kroshav.

Ernos cruches over to the drift and quickly determines the prone, unmoving form is a goblin. A very dead goblin.

A quick glance shows she had a white and gray cloak, a pair of rough snowshoes, a shortbow and a dagger.

Hearing Cladmir's crunching steps fading into the distance Ernos grabs a leg and drags the goblin corpse behind him, her head bouncing up and down and arms dragging.

((Pretty dang cold!))

A couple minutes later Cladmir and Kroshav reunite and perhaps a minute after that Ernos arrives with his grisly catch. She looks even more dead now, having lost a snowshoe and most of the skin on one side of her face from the dragging.

Kroshav would have swung Clad up behind him and urged Ealu to a faster pace when the fellow briefed him on what happened.

Kroshav and Cladmir see Ernos dragging a very dead goblin behind him.

Ernos drops the goblin and gestures to it as the two approach on horseback, "Dealt with.  Shame it died so quickly, can't question it.  Run into any problems?"

Kroshav shakes his head. "Lost the trail, doubled back when we realized we were on an old one."
