“Yea Ah know but …Ah guess Ah just still a wee sour tha she sent waves o hostility fer tryin’ ta identifyin’ her. Ah ainnae say Ah blame her but it just…Ah dunno. Ahh! Ah just had n idea! Ah think Ah know how ta identify ‘er withou’ identifyin’ her. She get her privacy still n we get knowledge!“
Joe pulls on Lurn to whisper to him.
“If she can see through walls she may hear us talkin’ when we rest Ah need ta talk ta ya. Away from Kroshav n tha sword.”
((Ya, no worries. I had to as well. She also didn't threaten Joe, just sent waves of hostility when Joe started probing her. Only Kroshav has ever heard Sword.))
(Ooooh I thought it originated there. Joe will calm down a bit when she hears it's from the vampire but I want to do an arcana check, I have not done that in a loooong time on the sword.)
Joe breathes a bit slower, not realizing she was tensed up. "Ah..." Joe frowns and tries to think. "Ah'm sorry...this damn'd place gettin' me paranoid.
((You've been rolling crap for insight Spider! Oh and Eula would be pinging you from time to time give you even more spaced out time. She'd let you know it's REALLY snowing.))
Joe knows there are any number of cursed items out there, of all shapes, sizes and threats. Most are inconveniences that don't case serious harm, for instance a whip with a head of the snake that bites and doesn't release the person that lifted it. Others can prove deadly, a brooch that slowly drains your life while granting nothing in return except the ability to speak with a certain type of lizard. Perhaps the worst of the cursed items can influence and otherwise control the actions of those carrying them. Cursed items are so varied that one can generally only say that they, as a rule, provide more detriment than benefit and cannot be easily disposed of.
Applying this to Sword, Joe comes up with a maybe? She hasn't noticed any detriments beyond a distracted Kroshav but maybe it is controlling him? He does defend it a lot, but he defends everyone. The Drow also managed to remove it from his possession without issue, but then Sword and Kroshav did reconnect very quickly.
She also isn't sure if she has heard of many cursed sentient items, but it wouldn't be that odd either.
((Let me know if you were looking for something specific Dead.))
(I am glad he rolled crap for insight this time! But no nothing in particular. Would it be possible for Joe to know someone personally that died of a cursed item?)
EDIT: there is one thing, if I cast identify on the person being cursed, would Joe be able to see if they are cursed?
((Given that Joe is a tomb robber I wouldn't say it would be unlikely she knew people that had run ins with cursed items. Being directly killed? Roll me a d20.
No, identify doesn't identity if an item, or a person, is cursed (per the DMG).))

HAHAHAHA!
"No traps, right Jaq? Lurn, care to assist?"
Kroshav will go with a more straightforward approach, heaving on the door if Jaq isn't able to spring the lock.

Cladmir looked at the group interaction with interest, and his ears perked up with the mention of the "she" and "sword".

Regardless, the tension in the group was palpable, not unlike when people are feeling each other out in a newly form mercenary outfit. While he is still grateful at his rescue and knowing that his continued survival rests in their hands, he wonder how much he can trust his new companions.

Noticing that the door may open at any moment Cladmir carefully pulled out the poison bolts and readied his crossbow.
“…We really need ta find out wha she can do.”

((Kroshav, Lurn and Joe knew about Sword's vision since the tests around fire one night before Lurn's friends came to say hello.))
Joe dampens the lock mechanisms and nothing appears to happen. It's seems the fine motions required to open a lock are beyond the cantrip.
Sword hangs impassively at Kroshav's side, doing a flawless impression of an inanimate object but Kroshav's face gets a distant look again.
joe makes a lockpick for Jaq.

"It's not nice to whisper and plot, Joe. She had said she didn't want you to, and you tried anyway. Leave it at that, please?"

The dragonborn grins. "It's okay Cap'n, it's been a stressful couple of days. Sword wants to get out of here as much as you do!"

(Ah that sucks. Well then plan b.)
After the failed water in the lock attempt, Jaq will try the lockpick. (Roll far above, which I'm assuming very much fails.)
