I would envision that the explanation of the Fist of the Five happened during the dig, so as the day went on and Kroshav's story came to a close, Cladmir responded.
"I myself never thought much of gods or demons, always thinking that their eyes are elsewhere and what I accomplished was through my own hands. But I have to say that the incidents with the drows and your help and perhaps me being a test shows that maybe the gods to take interests in us."
As for the hole,
"If we some ropes to make a ladder we might be able to send someone down with a torch and see if there's more to it down there without having to get in the water. It's getting later in the day, though, so perhaps we can retire to the library and come prepared in the morning?"
At this point the Librarian has returned to her library but has left a golem to watch the proceedings. If it is watching, which is hard to tell since it doesn't have eyes.
((You would have rope and torches on you, though Lurn's light spell has been the go to in the past for illumination))
Clamir is glad that after all the ordeals with the fights in the dark caves and hallways that at least when we go into another dark hole there would be plenty of sunlight above ground to retreat to.
Back at the library basement the party note as the descend that several beds and crates have been placed at the bottom of the stairs.
The next day dawns clear and cold, nothing looks to have changed around the entrance of library or to have disturbed the hole Kroshav dug the day before.
((How are you lighting up the water filled room? Or are you even going to mess with it at all?))
Cladmir has spent the last night making a rope ladder to make sure that whoever goes down to explore can do so relatively safely and if the party choose to explore we can get in and out easily. Additionally he has also procured and/or made more torches just in case.
"I've made this rope ladder last night. Ideally we should find a way to anchor it, but lacking that we can also have two of our strongest members hold one end while someone goes down. I would suggest bring a lamp, but seeing that we have access to magic that may be more convenient?"
(Jaq has a belt he acquired a while back, during the 'war thread' that gives some flight capability....and I very much forgot about it. I'm assuming we found that along with other spoils the Drow took from us?)
"Lurn or me to haul folks up, then. Joe's the lightest, but there could be spiders down there, don't want her to burn through the rope by accident, so you or Jaq on the rope ladder?"

"Hey Lurn, we're gonna go look at that hole we told you about last night, you want to come, or you busy?"
Lurn stretches as Kroshav calls out, "I certainly shouldn't sit around too much. No good to let myself get lazy."

Jaq will spend the night re-attuning to the belt, and mention that he can use it to fly for short periods, so he'd be willing to go down and check out the excavation.
Beginning by using the ladder, but having the belt if needed if he slips or a problem occurs.
(I have had been very bad ignoring items so far, it seems.)
"Cladmir, I have this other item we found. It can help you see better, magically. And it only has a really good chance of making you go blind in one eye each time you use it." He waves the eye patch at the dwarf. He waits to see his reaction then just chuckles and puts it away. "I need someone to help me remember to sell that horrible thing the next time we are in a big enough city."
He then does pull out a wand from his pack. "I also found this in a war chest a while back. It's a wand of magic missiles. Cladmir, is this something you would use in a fight? Or do any of you think you'd like to use it? I've had it, but I just always use my bow."
Cladmir was momentary fascinated about potentially seeing better in the dark until he heard about the side effect.
With regards to the wand, Cladmir simply put his hands up, "Friend, giving me something like a magic wand and I may just accidentally blow up the ceiling and bring it down on our heads."
"I think you'd be ok with it. Joe can probably show you how it works better than me. But it sends out magic missiles like the mage spell and they never miss your target. I think you only have to limit the times you use it in a day or you have the chance of having it go non-magical. Again, Joe or the librarian are probably the best teachers for this. Or if not you, how about any of you others? Need something different for a ranged attack?"
"I'm more useful up close than far away, but I suppose if no one else is wanting to use it, it would help if I can't reach something in time. Oh! Do you think Eula could use it? Maybe she can hold it in her mouth and blast fools!"

"Yep, good idea. Good nights sleep and then prepare to check it out tomorrow." He is ready to get back into the warmer library at this point.

(update for magic items on Jaq)
After getting all the confiscated items back, he will have suited back up with the following, now (Since the cloak MIA)
He will wear the Soaring belt, and Earring of Eavesdropping and the Necklace of Adaption. (All three need attunement.)
He will also redon the two rings that do not need attunement, Ring of Resist Lightning and the Ring of Temperate Lies.
Jaq comes out of the library archives dressed in some serious bling. His huge belt buckle really catching the light.
