At the music shop, the little man with Eskee points to a bright and shiny tin drum. "This little toy is only one gold, if you are looking for a deal, and its small enough to fit in your pocket. If you want a real snare, we have this one over here," he says pointing to a drum on a tripod stand, "for only twelve gold. If you want something more portable," he continues, "we have this large bongo with a removeable harness strap. Just listen to that tone," he says, giving the bongo a bang. "Beautiful, isn't it?"
The stableman greedily snatches Asshrak's ten gold pieces and stuffs them into a pocket in his trousers. "Here, you can take this one," the man says, patting a tan beast on the rump then turns to leave.
“Mrs. Mirna, if our travels brings us back to your shop with breath in our lungs I will for sure stop. Just out of curiosity, is there anything that you and Mr. Leroi collects or fancy’s?
Stun Calms down the horse he previously startled. As Asshak and Basal pays for the mule, Stun asks the stableman, "What more can you tell us about those hynea-folk?"
"Well," Mirna replies to Maverick, "I do have a fine collection of jeweled brooches. Leroi doesn't collect anything, but he is always looking for new metals and things to use in his weapon making."
The stableman has quickly run off and is out of sight and earshot of Stun, Basal, and Asshrak.
"Ten gold," the little man tells Eskee. "but if you want one like this that guarantees to get your audience moving to the rhythm and bouncing to the beat, I have a beautiful one similar to this in the back for one hundred gold."
Maverick looks at Mirna and says “ok I will keeps my eyes open and tell your husband it was great meeting him. Have a wonderful rest of you your day”
Maverick walks away from the worksmith shop and walks into the the music shop and looks at Eskee and boisterously says
“Ahhhh Sir Maynord I see you found the bongos, I told you and your father King Salem of Chesapeake that this is by far the most fare and honest shop in the land with their prices. I’m sure this humble and honest man (as Maverick points to the little man at the shop) would hate to upset your father by overcharging you for the Bongos. After all, the ones we saw in Freeport we’re 7 gold, I’m sure this man can beat that price, especially if it put him in good graces with your Father and the connection your Father has in the trade industry.”
Maverick looks at the little man and says
“isn’t that right, your an honest man and would never take advantage of this your man in fear of the repercussions that could fall upon your business. So I have to ask how much are you charging this young man for those Bongos?”
Eskee sees Maverick walk in and listens to his speech then quickly replies, “You must have me confused my friend. My name is Eskee and I have never met a King Salem.”
He then turns to the shop keeper, “ I must have one of those faces.”
Maverick may notice Eskee talking slower than usual in an attempt to make sure he doesn’t draw out his s’es.
“My apologies, Eskee was it? You resemble the son of king…..well never mind it’s not important. Once again I humbly apologize. (Maverick looks back at the small man) kind sir charge him as much as you want I have mistaken him for someone else that I wanted you to give a far price to for your own safety. Never-mind the fare 7gold price, overcharge, it’s your reputation not mine. “
Maverick then walks out of the shop and slowly makes his way to the stables.
In continuing to talk to the shop keeper Eskee says, “that strange man just said that bongos go for seven gold elsewhere. I will pay you seven gold for this basic one.”
As the stableman runs away, Stun tell Basal and Asshrak, "I think we should take the donkey and leave town as soon as we can. I'm pretty sure i just scared him." He then pats Asshark on the shoulder and states, "I'll leave the talking to you next time...".
