With your final combined attacks (and not the least bit of annoyance) you manage to smash, slap, and smack the crabs back to the frigid depths! You can now focus your attention on the other things in the room, name the locked chest waiting underwater on the far side.
Bones puts out a hand to caution Petros but is too late. "Out of the water now! We need to retreat to the inner room, out of the wind and to a fire right away. The cold of that water can turn your blood to ice, so hurry, we'll get the chest another way!" Bones would leave the chest opening business to the others while fussing over their health.

“Good point, I’ll take the chest out of the water.” Petros attempts to haul the chest over to the bonfire.
Unfortunately it seems the chest is actually connected to the floor and not something you can lift out and carry somewhere, it is literally built into the floor.
Bones, looking thoughtfully at the chest, says to the others, "Let's leave it here and come back to it. If we cannot find what we seek elsewhere then we will come back and try to open it without damaging the contents. However, as I see it, we don't know the condition of the vials - if there are any - or how they would respond to a sudden rush of freezing water. We wouldn't know if any such vials were a cure or a virus either. We could risk contaminating this area of water and spreading the disease to the obvious wildlife that live here. Possibly accelerating any effects on ourselves as well. If there is a cure and it becomes damaged or lost from opening it recklessly, all of this would be for naught. That's my vote, thoughts?"
“I think that makes sense. We might be able to find this chest’s key somewhere else here anyways.” Petros trudges out of the water, and is ready to leave.
”I’m guessing this chest doesn’t contain the cure. For how dangerous this disease is, I suspect the cure wouldn’t be dumped into a crab-infested puddle.”
Petros stabs at the weakest crab. “They sure are!” He shouts in agreement with Bones.
hit: 4
damage: 7

hit: 23
damage: 8
Not sure what that was about
“Little Buggers!” Cade attemps to slice the crab Gellwin just hit.
Attack: 20 Damage: 11
(sorry about my attempted edit here. attack was actually a 12 and damage was a 4)
" Stop Nipping Me!!"
Gellwin threw flame once more.
Attack: 13 Damage: 3
(( Assuming another round of initiative - if anyone is below 50% health Bones will heal them. If not, he will attack instead. ))
"Well, on the bright side, at least we know what we're eating for dinner tonight!"
Healing = 13
Attack = 7
Damage = 8

(combat over)
Petros wads over to the chest and turns to the group.
“I guess the options are either lockpicking or brute force. I’m not the best at either of those, so I’ll just watch.”
Petros inspires anyone who tries to open the chest.

Gellwin lights a bonfire to warm them.
“Good point, I’ll take the chest out of the water.” Petros attempts to haul the chest over to the bonfire.
Cade attemps to help Gellwin to pull the chest over to the bonfire. Then he warms himself up as much as he can.

" I'm no good with locks and not the strongest but I'm happy to help."
" Be careful...we don't want to break whats inside if its cure."
(( Question for the DM - is there an exposed hanging padlock or is it an embedded lock within the structure of the chest? ))
(The lock is part of the chest)
(( Bananas! ))
